China has one of the most diverse palates ever, thanks to the country’s many different regions and ethnicities.
If you want to learn about Cantonese food, Shunde’s a good place to start. This Pearl River Delta city is one of the oldest rice-growing areas in history, which resulted in plenty of traditional dishes made with the grain. In this episode, we travelled to see how this region uses rice creatively to make cakes and noodles.
This is the first episode of City Bites, where we dive into the food that’s unique to a Chinese city, and its roots.
0:00 Why is Shunde famous for rice dishes
1:18 How Lunjiao rice cakes are made
4:37 Making noodles out of rice
6:55 Why Shunde cares about food

Lmao that's not what the lady said at 0:45. She said '麥' not '馬'. She was saying that wheat comes only from the north; she said nothing about horses.

Why do Chinese overstuff their mouths with food. And talk with mouthful? We often hear doctors say, chew your food properly . Don't gulp it down. I wud like to get a reply to understand this non medical habit.
