After doing more research, I found most engines unless specified by its manufacturer turn in the following manner . From drivers seat view which would be flywheel side the engine turns CCW from the front of the engine it is Clockwise rotation . Same directions but different perspective . Same as you facing another person , their right hand is on your left . Same thing , orientation and perspective . Hope this helps someone .
This was on a 2.0 tfsi. Engine cut out on track and this video was part of the process in finding out why. The tfsi has a timing belt from crank to exhaust cam. It also has a cam chain from exhaust cam to inlet cam. The chain had snapped. I think the plastic guide on the chain tensioner snapped, leading to the chain snapping somehow. As the tfsi is an interference engine youd have put money on valve/ piston damage. There may have been some damage, but a new chain and tensioner and the car ran fine and had full compression. I did miss a tooth the first time putting the new chain on, which was apparent with VCDS timing values. With the chain aligned it ran fine, and is still running fine a couple of years later.
i got a problem . I turned the crankshaft clockwise accidentally while having the camshafts locked in the guided positions is there a way i can turn it back counter clockwise without unlocking or do i have to do a whole turn all over again please advise me
I need to drill and tap for a blown spark plug on my ford Econoline! I need to hand turn the engine to send piston to the bottom so I don't drill it! So that's how you turn it ha??
I did some search some says it's the cam passing some phase when timing chain is slack. I am not concerned now. However the sound is loud and scary when you turn the engine by hand.@@tomrielly8808
I found a junkyard engine where every turn i hear an air release, is that just the Piston making negative/positive pressure and releasing when a valve opens or is it blow-by when the pressure gets too high?
My heart dropped when I put mine all back together too and turned it by hand to check if the rockers were working fine. Supposedly it’s just compression slipping past the rings. I’m gonna hope that’s what mine is doing and that I don’t have to rebuild the whole thing again😭
Crankshaft and timing belt are not supposed to rotate counter clockwise! Also you loosening the crankshaft bolt... A reversed turning direction can cause damage on a belt under stress that was rotating under operating condition clockwise since installation.
In u.s. we have quality control to check our work. Clockwise is usually the way ,but you never know these days,I'll try by grabbing belt by hand if I can't turn a 4 cylinder a 1/4 turn then I'll use a socket .
Can anybody help me I’m trying to turn the crankshaft by putting a socket on the crank pulley but doesn’t turn, is it seized or is that normal btw the motor is a Chevy 350 tbi
I managed to turn this engine by hand, but it did have a broken cam chain which I'm guessing made it easier. It was also a little 2.0 4 cyl so would be considerably easier then a big yank V engine.
Read the comments. At this point I didn't know whether the engine span at all. This engine is still running today, despite being turned over backwards once, by hand.
Exactly what I was hoping to see, because that's what I asked. This was GREAT❕ I have a lot undone and need to do some final trouble shooting. Hoping she still runs🤞🙂 ANYTHING is POSSIBLE with GOD on OUR Side‼In Jesus Name AMEN ❤Thank You for Sharing❗😁👍
@@mangupurr 🤣You Jackiss❗ I was praying for it, to not be Hydrolocked! God allowed it to suck up water for a reason though. It wasn't safe, and needed a NEW Engine anyway. I just wanted to drive it until I couldn't a little longer. I got it up for sale now, but I'm about to just keep it.
@@mangupurr and God's got everything to do with anything seen and unseen, because he's God the creator of ALL Things! In case you were wondering. BELIEVE IT❗😁👍 ❤Thank You for sharing❗
When you don't know if your engine will spin at all, it doesn't really matter. This engine is still running today, despite being spun backwards once, shock horror.
Your are not going the right way.. everyone says clockwise yet you are not doing that but it turning sooo did i was my time going the wrong fking way ?
