An idea for cheap and plentiful shelf mushrooms are pine cone fronds jabbed in up to the curvy part! Loved watching this come together

That is one bangger of an idea. im pretty sure I have some decorative ones somewhere. If it works, you will see it in a video. Will it be alright if I tag you to give credit

@@Crackminis absolutely! Hope it pans out. I've used the decorative ones myself (much less sticky) and since you can find them in clearance bins aplenty after the holiday season now is the time to hoard them lol

That’s such a great idea, I have a couple trees out back that produce very small pinecones and I’ve always wanted to figure out some way to use them, I’ve never thought of using them as mushrooms! Definitely gonna add some to my supplies. Thanks for the awesome idea!!

Poor, poor Gajah. Someone ought to tread the mists and bring the poor beast the peace of death. End his suffering, and bring revenge on the monster that took his happiness from him. (Using the sprue goo for an wrinkled, elephantine skin looks really cool. Might need to make some Chaos Spawn using that trick some time.)
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
I was thinking of using the Sprue goo to make a great unclean one proxy. Eventually, I think it would lend itself really well to nurgle

a structure on the back of an elephant where people sit is called a "howdah"
@Weez-2_The-Beez
@Weez-2_The-Beez 7 месяцев назад
Great job making the skin look realistic like elephant skin 👍 I believe that the “archer nest” is called a howda? (Spelling is not my forte, but my phone does an ok job) I have found that watered down ‘white glue’ or ‘modpodge’ helps when working with the string to create a look for the model and not dry out so quickly and it also helps when painting because it gives the string a coating which doesn’t “gunk” up the strands so you can actually see that it’s ‘rope’ holding the structure together… Intriguing storyline and I wonder what will happen next 🤔
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
Thank you, and yea, I think I'll switch back to soaking the string in modpodge. I might have been the mixture in the wicker man ep that was the problem just going to be trial and error till I get it just right
@Weez-2_The-Beez
@Weez-2_The-Beez 7 месяцев назад
@@Crackminis I think that your water ratio to glue mix might be too much glue and not enough water… I have been working with literal strands of string with my 15mm miniature slingers (Dark Age/Viking games) so I’m watering the glue down very much to still be able to pick up an arms length away that the very tiny miniature has a rope with a rock attached to the end of said (string/rope) and make it believable
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
@Weez-2_The-Beez yea you might be right. I'll give less glue a try first for the next project. Thank you for the advice
@Weez-2_The-Beez
@Weez-2_The-Beez 7 месяцев назад
@@Crackminis It’s always a good idea to do a couple test runs before you commit to a project so you know what the water and glue ratio is, that way you won’t over/under do it and screw up your final project. I would suggest trying it out on some small scatter terrain “test” pieces, that way you can see how the final outcome looks before committing to a bigger project like this one
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
@Weez-2_The-Beez yoir right, and I will be doing that. I've got some free time for once and want to test it out, making bunting. I'll probably film it and make it into a short
@jhs5467
@jhs5467 7 месяцев назад
The surface structure is really hard to achieve in other ways, i´d suggest building a proper anatomy with a clay underneath and then use melted spruce sheets for a skin on top. It works well for this absurdity/undead/stitched look, but could be used more focused on any old skin subject!
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
Yes, I totally agree with you, and it's a method I will be utilising again in other projects down the line. It will be interesting to see how far I can push it. I think maybe it would work well for a bust.
@ogbang
@ogbang 7 месяцев назад
Fantastic build! Have you tried using hot glue to make mushrooms? You can simply lay down some wax paper and add a dab of hot glue to form a mushroom cap shape. Peel it and then use a toothpick shard as the stem, and cover that in a bit more hotglue. For more longer stems with a more properly bizzare turnip28 style, squirt hot glue above and into a bowl of cold water while slowly moving the gun around to created elongated twisting mushroom stalks. Looking forward to seeing more of your builds!
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
I have, but they come out very smooth. I put on a coat of liqid green stuff they came out ok, so I could try making them in bulk . I'm going to need a lot of them. And other types of mushrooms types
@ogbang
@ogbang 7 месяцев назад
@Crackminis you could try sculpting one mushroom in the detail you need and cast a ton of copies using Blue Stuff bars from Green Stuff World and filling with two part expoy like Aves etc. Dead simple to use for this job.
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
@ogbang I was actually thinking of, like you said, sculpting the shrooms and then making silicon moulds, but that would be a video within itself, but at the moment, I'm out of quick cure resin ive been makeing silicon fishing lures and used it to make a cast

Try used coffee filters for the cloth. Or used tea bag paper. And the basket might be referred to as a howdah. I've started using fine wire twisted together, then wrapped on, glued in place and then primed and painted for rope.

First thing would be to clean your lens. Second is use a circular polarising filter. It won't get rid of all the reflections, but you can spin it in place until you find the best amount of reflection reduction.

Great video when it comes to string contrast paint does it reall well coz it seeps into all the little recesses like a dream. Alternatively you can try mixing some paint with flow improver (or airbrush flow improver its the same thing), so it reduces the paints surfafe tension and seeps into it nicely. Also if you want "cloth" textures that last longer i've seen some good results of people using thin slices of tin that bent to look wavy (bit of work involved but it will last forever basically). The other option is using Kneaditite (also known as green stuff) - as green stuff dries with some flexibility in it, similar to how cosclay dries but i'd say green stuff is more flexible. Its also easier to add that wavy cloth pattern into green stuff but just rolling out sausages and blending them in to the "cloth" to give it some wavy textures. Hope this helps mate you've earned my sub!. Personally i didnt know sprue glue could work like that, i usually use sprue glue (bits of sprue chucked into a half empty bottle of tamiya extra thin model cement) to fill in holes and gaps on my minis and also i use it if im kitbashing and theres a connection thats a bit dodgy or has low surface contact, i just fill it with sprue glue, then once it dries a bit i fill the gaps with more sprue glue and THEN i use normal tamiya thin and brush it over the sprue glue to clean away the excess and it looks absolutely magic mate as if there was no gap inthe first place !
@Crackminis
@Crackminis 7 месяцев назад
thank you for the advice, I have some flow improver to hand so ill give that a crack with this and the advice of got so far and a little trial and error I should have it looking really good the next time I use it in a vid And as for the sprue goo I didn't expect it to work when I first started messing about with it
