Where do you even start to try and get better and enjoy your Surfing better?
If you're curious as to what to do then you'll need to find the high level information and this isn't very easy to do.
And it's even harder to get the high level people to analyse your own personal Surfing.
But that's changing with more and more top level surfers offering online video analysis.

Great video dude! Another observation is that you're trying to do a cutback no matter what the wave is giving you. Especially at the higher settings, the start of the wave at Bristol is pretty much ideal for snaps and rentrys or BIG fast carves, not slow cutbacks. It was interesting because there was one turn in the orange vest where it looked great - and you did it out on the shoulder, which gave you time to wrap around, dig on that rail and get speed. This advice isn't super important because funnily enough on the next ep preview, you're doing snappier turns and trying more explosive turns in the pocket - and it seems to be working well (love the turn to barrel combo). Thanks for the comment and advice, much appreciated. And, yes, 100% agree with you about not trying to impose a move if the wave doesn’t allow. But there is the catch of getting coaching / input / focus on one thing, you try to do it! You should have seen some of the other waves, was pumping alone just looking to do the turn….. Was thinking of mentioning this issue but one too many things to pack in :)

@@averagejoe6355 Just a thought, have you thought about giving surf skating a go? It'd be really really interesting to see how surf skating translates when you've got a wave that is very similar every time. I feel like you might get an even bigger boost than most - and it's already a good way to leapfrog.

Great video, I have the exact same problems. I got to say your doing some of the best tutorials out there for the intermidiate surfer..It's def not easy to implement even when you know what your doing wrong.. It all happens so fast.

Think you’ve nailed it, so much going on when you try to implement things. The better a person gets at something the more time and awareness a person has. Don’t know about you, but the curiosity and learning is part of the fun. Thanks for the kind words about the video. I’m just the same as everyone else, so if I can share the treasure I find then great, certainly never about vanity or claiming I came up with this stuff, so great to hear that’s it’s useful to others

It’s a mixture. Most of it is from the Advanced Plus wave settings which is M4 and T1 waves if I’m not mistaken. Some is Expert Turns (T4 and T3 if I’m not mistaken) And then there are one or 2 turns from an Expert Barrels (B1) session. The first turn section is arguably the best wave face and power for turns…, What’s the source of the question? Trying to compare to Alaia, Melbourne or another wave pool? Or just interested in what would work for you when you visit Bristol ?

@@averagejoe6355 Thank you for your answer. I surfed Bristol before but i found it too soft. These waves look better than what I caught (bigger and more powerfull). I am trying to book a session there in September (2 sessions in the same day) but they only had the expert day sessions in different days.

It’s and interesting discussion but the slower speed waves seem to help with positioning and fundamentals as they force you to be in the right spot, but totally get it if people are advanced surfers then they might want something a bit more substantial because they really aren’t comparable to spots in the ocean with proper waves. Still an amazing training place. Just got smashed on the backhand barrels so even though “small” they still show you who is boss ! 😂

I am amazed how low he gets, and the way he never loses speed Like you, i am a tall guy, always struggling to bend my knees, not the waist, in the beginning of my turns Keep coming those videos!

@@Tiaguini78 agreed, his technique and style are great. Many amazing surfers to get inspiration from, getting access to the information is hard, trying to implement it is even harder!
