Never dawned on me you could stall with a nose low attitude. Very interesting.

It's one of those things that needs to be seen. Many people also think the wing stalls at the top of the hammerhead....which is why I used it in this video....it doesn't. On that vertical line up the wing is at ZERO AOA so it never stalls. Someone is going to ask why I didn't mention that.....just wait.

As always great information Spencer. It may surprise you but many Airline Pilots have never done any Aerobatics. There happy in the 30° bank world of IFR flying. After your Private get your IFR Rating to make flying safer. Learn about Aerobatics and become a complete aviator. Train with a highly qualified instructor like Spencer. Happy Flying

🛫🛬 My instructor said many years ago; "Final approach is the wrong time to learn what the world looks like upside down." I've had 10,000 hr guys that couldn't take 15 minutes. It's shameful that our PPL training syllabus became so weak. Just look at the GA accident rate per month AND YOU WILL SEE THE PROOF. You made a very excellent point. 📖🛐🛫🛬🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🐆

I'm just now getting into aviation (studying up, no flying yet) but it seems crazy to me that people dont know that the elevator turns the aircraft. I guess they arent really thinking of the frame of reference from the aircraft rather than from outside. but it would only take being at a 90deg bank to see what is happening, from the outside you are turning in a flat circle parallel to the ground but from the cockpit youre making a loop. same happens at any bank angle but the forces are split. basically at 90 deg bank your control surfaces change function, with the rudder acting as your elevator if you are using an outside frame of reference. any bank between 90 and 0 will have split forces requiring use of all controls to an extend.

Great, but I wish you would have explained stick input during the snap roll.

I think I finally got whose presentation style your presentation style reminds me of: Tom Scott. You're both very good at presenting something while actually doing something related to what you are talking about. By the way: How many takes does it on average take you to talk about these maneuvers while executing them?

Spencer, big fan here, I would love the idea if you could do some of these things you mention in those Cessna's and Pipers, to compare to those acrobatic planes and show what those differences are in real GA planes. So many people like you mention only have a Cessna or piper to compare to what you do for reference. I am sure you would be bored to death flying a slowhawk 172 but I would find it interesting all the things you describe about flying characteristics with you at the controls. Surely others would too, well just a suggestion!
@ssairshows
@ssairshows 2 года назад
Thanks for the suggestion; however, the reason I did these demos of what-if scenarios in an aerobatic plane is because they are prohibited maneuvers in nearly every other plane. If and when they happen it's usually the end of that plane and pilot/passengers. My goal here is to show people what can happen if they over estimate their understanding of how planes fly.
@jameshyatte7230
@jameshyatte7230 2 года назад
@@ssairshows Don't think I was suggesting these maneuvers in those planes please! , just wanted you to explain why those planes can't do those maneuvers and show why, like when turning a plane, the difference in a extra versus a 172 when using no back pressure on the elevator etc, that's all, those type things!
