In this final "pre-shipment" video concerning this 1961 Magnavox Imperial Micromatic, I go over some of the more "critical" aspects of adjustments. Additionally, this serves as an update video.

i've put a nylon washer in that place, they can be found at ace or tractor supply

Yup, as long as You're minimizing any friction between the tone base and the bottom of the nut, all is good :-)

some of the tonearms on the early micromatics have 2 screws holding the tonearm on

i used a stick like a tongue depressor to hold the clutch boss u while i tightened the black screws

there's a round nut that adjusts when the spindlepiece moves back and forth . it may need a slight adjustment
@larryshaver3568

on changers like that there is a little round nut near where the bottom of the spindle pokes though

Indeed, I still entertain myself with toys, next time I'll set the speed to 78 rpm and see if they can stay on the platter ;-) Have a nice weekend!

i wonder if some of the people at Collaro stayed on when Magnavox bought them to make sure the Magnavox people learned the ropes in turntable mfg

I would imagine so, it sounds logical to me.

I knew vinyl got thinner in the seventies due to the oil embargo. It seems I do remember multiple drops on occasion and especially 45s getting hung up or just half dropping on one side of the spindle.

Very true, and if in the end manufacturers would agree and truly adhere to "industry standards" in such situations, it would make life a bit more pleasant for the end user, as opposed to all of the incompatibilities that we often have to deal with in regard to a lot of things 🙂

i know all to well about the record dropping issue when the push-off roller falls off
@retroelectrotech
@retroelectrotech Год назад
Yes indeed, it can happen 🙂

i can see what you mean about the height of clutch assembly, there is a law of diminishing return
@retroelectrotech
@retroelectrotech Год назад
Yup, it's got to be adjusted in the right zone :-)

have you worked on any Magnavox changers that had the separate knobs like the conquest[F200-C]?

I know of them, however, I can't recall working on one, but I know the mechanisms are all pretty much the same on those Collaro / Magnavox units. Again, as I often say in my videos, if You have a good solid understanding of the mechanism function collectively, you'll be able to navigate your way through that whole generation of turntables, despite some differences in "the lay of the land / landscape". One of the crucial keys to successfully servicing any such mechanism (or any piece of equipment), is parts organization / categorization, documenting, diagraming and even snapping photos in this day and age of camera phones. As you yourself mentioned recently, you understand that a service manual with an exploded parts view, may not kindly walk you through the "interconnection" between the various levers, linkages, gears, cams etc. And, unless a person works on a particular type of gear day in and day out, it's always a good idea to work like a pro and cover your bases. It's like navigating through the wilderness, it's wise to have a map and compass, pay attention to landmarks moving forward, and look back over your shoulder and make note of how things look behind you, so that you don't get mixed up on the return trip 😉

@@retroelectrotech i bought anotherF200-C which came today but the seller wasn"t honest. the motor was frozen.and the push-off roller was missing and i can't find one with a large enough hole

@@larryshaver3568 That's probably going to be one of those situations where you'll need to make one or have someone make you one, if you don't have the tools / machinery. Of course the only other alternative is to pull one from another unit that is kind of "thrashed", if you could get your hands an an old beat up parts unit. If I had a roller around here I'd mail it to you, but unfortunately I don't, nonetheless, I hope you get it figured out.

@@retroelectrotech i will be able to get the motor running i think i can find a push-off roller later today or tomorrow, i have at least 5 of those changers so there has to be at least one somewhere
@retroelectrotech
@retroelectrotech Год назад
@@larryshaver3568 I'm sure the motor just needs to be "liberated" by disassembly, cleaning and re-lube (the usual stuff), and good to hear you can probably source a roller 🙂
