Funny enough, people will point at the Yeti as a prime example of how gaming audio should be (even though it's not a gaming product specifically), even though it's not good either.
It doesn't reflect on you! Look at this way. Because of this video with your name on it, people will save a bunch of money not buying this mic...and on top of that...now turtle beach will never contact me asking me to review any headsets or mics. HA!
Bought one of these for almost $200 at a best buy fully new and packaged a year ago. Just opened it up and set it up - to find there is literally ZERO locking cap. Not a single locking cap in the whole thing. No biggie, i'll go buy one online right? Literally the only thing Turtle Beach has out of stock, is in fact, the locking cap. 10/10. So cool I love my now hand-held mic that gives me constant anxiety knowing with one knee-bump to the table the whole thing will come crashing down and shatter until it makes an awful background noise making me unable to ever use it again. Thanks turtle beach! The reason I bought the microphone is because the microphone on my turtle beach headset doesn't pick up sound. At all. Never has for years. 5 stars right here.
I'm glad I found this channel. It's hands down the best resource for informative and well presented content regarding recording. Also wow this mic is garbage. I joked around about how it would probably sound like one of their headset mics when I first saw this listed on Amazon, but I didn't expect that to be the truth.
I don't get why people give it so bad reviews.... i have gotten it to sound really good, no noise, perfect bass, etc. going from a shitty mic on a headset to this, is definetly a upgrade.. i give it 7 out of 10 stars... the mic feels cheap itself, the set up is hard to figure out to get perfect. but that's about it.. i am happy with this microphone, and it sound clear, with alot of bass.
Thanks for all the reviews. in all honesty, your videos are the best. I recently watched your review on the BM-800 and recently picked that up with phantom power. Hopefully, it sounds great. Keep up the work and hope to see more videos I the future!
The gaming Brands should produce a "real" large diaphragm dynamic stream mic like the Podcaster, but with good Sound. That would be the new NT1-A for the gaming RU-vidrs :D
Oh dude. I remember them too! Thanks for being here that long. I was so excited when I hit 100 subs after a few months that I got a pen to commemorate it! So thank you!
i have the mic i got it a few months ago, i know all the features like volume, xbox or pc mode, and how to change the color of the mute button, but i want to know how far away should i stay from the mic so my voice isnt all staticy, and if a pop filter would help when i start recording or do a rap song! ive tested it out on voice recorders and audacity by just talking! should i use a pop filter, and if so where can i get one for this sort of microphone?
YDKAnthony My advice? Sell this thing on EBay and buy a new microphone. It sounds really bad for the price. I suggest you get an MXL 550 and a Phantom Power supply if you want to record a rap song. It’s affordable and will sound much better.
Update on the status of this product. I found 5 of them in a clearance him at Target for $22! Finally priced appropriately, pick one up for my 2nd set up.
What mic would you recommend on an affordable level. I have this and having so much trickle getting all the damn settings you need to go thru just to get what you want, aside you sounded amazing compared to how mine is right now if that says anything lol I want a yeti but to expensive tight now, I see many mixed reviews, same with snow ball.. but I kind of want a snowball, mostly just for recording, and streaming but more recording than anything. I can't get a recommendation to saved my life right now. I'm ready to buy something else like yesterday lol .. great review!!! Well done hun I think I'll give ya a sub 😊
I'll be honest I don't see the problem with this? And I'm usually quite sensitive to audio issues. I've used expensive mics before and I do know the quality you can get from them is better but I don't get the hate for this? However I did get mine on sale fairly cheap so it wasn't too much of a hurt in my pocket.
Podcastage, could you possibly do an episode of the Versus Series with the Blue Snowball/Blue Snowball ICE VS BM-800. Or atleast comment which is better. Personally, I think im going to go with the BM-800 as I like being able to set my gain rather super low with phantom power but at the same time being able to be heard very easily.
Then you have your answer. It's all personal preference as to what you want and you seem to want the 800...which is what I would pick as well. I would mix it with a USB audio interface.
I just returned the snowball because it was not recognized by my computer with in one day of purchase and this was on sale for $80 looking at your review it seemed to sound ok but now I want to put my investment on a dependable mic. Is this ok for $80 or should I get the snowball again or maybe a yeti? I'm not an audiophile so I wouldn't really know what to listen for...
I love the review but I would disagree I like the stream mic regardless of build quality also anyone know what stand he is using I have been looking for one lately
Good Day Podcastage! Can I have a request from you? Can you have a review on Behringer PS400 Compact Audio Interface? They said it's a cheap and good equipment for starting voice overs. Thank you!
Companies need to create a small fair quality gaming microphone + table stand combination that is REALLY ABLE TO CANCEL A MECHANICAL KEYBOARD SOUND. Or at least this is all I want, really.
My problem is I can find a mic other than this one that is compatible with Xbox one I don’t wanna use a headset mic either so if I’m just starting streaming and RU-vid could I go for this for my first mic?
Jesus christ this sounds terrible even for a 25 dollar mic. For 85-100 dollars it is absolutely not worth it. My 16 dollar Creative Fatality headset (RIP - they don't make it anymore) had a better mic than this.
Typical Turtlebeach product; overpriced and overhyped junk with the turtlebeach brand to try and trick console players into buying it. Heck even the modmic is far superior to this and its what, $35/£35?
The one I have had for a while not just keeps turning itself off. The computer doesn't recognize it at all. The light will turn on and then it will dim and then turn off.
Saw only one sitting at Walmart for weeks and weeks for $100 and went to bestbuy one day for something I needed and found it for around $50 so I got it for streaming and I mean i haven’t had any problems with it yet but deff wouldn’t have paid $100 for it
I got this mic on sale for30 dollars. Not the best quality but it gets the job done well and people can hear my voice clearly so it’s fine for 30 dollars. Anything over 30 is a rip off
There is something I do not understand with this MiC , I installed the program on my Mac, it asked me to set it to Xbox mode after I set it into Xbox mode, I can not find in the sound prefrences of My Mac , so I have to switch it again to PC mode and in that case the ear force audio hub program is no longer functioning because I changed the mode to PC mode to be recognized by MY mac so i can use the mic. How can I solve this problem ? I need your suggestion, Thank you for your review.
