Animals are simply amazing! Love watching the turtle while s/he was being cleaned. There was a look of pure ecstasy on its face. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for sharing this. I find cleaning stations fascinating. The trust and honor that has to pass between species is amazing. I wish there were more videos like yours, where the camera is left to record for more than a few moments.
This turtle is intentionally laying in the sand and resting while fish eat algae and parasites off it. It is called a cleaning station. I can't imagine why 42 people dislike the video but gather it is because some one must be claiming the turtle is in some sort of trouble?!?! The turtle is exactly where it wants to be!! Tania Cedeno L. how was I supposed to help this turtle????
Don McLeish some people just dislike videos only for the fun of it. They don't even bother reading the description much less care for how the waterworld works. Just... ignore them. Better for your health.
I have only seen a few turtles here on Maui with barnacles and assumed they picked them up while transiting in open ocean. I don't think the fish can take a reasonable sized barnacle but perhaps they can get the little ones that have just recruited. In other areas, I don't know if cleaning stations have fish that will address barnacles or not.
There was nothing wrong with this turtle, It was resting on the seabed and letting fish clean algae and parasites off of it. I have rescued a number of turtles that have been entangled with fishing line and hooks and done so under a NOAA permit# 21260. I am not clear on why some people think there is something wrong with the turtle?!?
turtle: uh... i need you guys to clean me up fish: okay just take some nap while we clean your shell turtle: how I can pay you guys for this? fish: um... take it easy buddy just take the rest to us... turtle: thanks buddy I owe you one... (the turtle take a nap while hearing the whale speaking) maybe thats how the turtle speak or... agh dont mind that I dont understand what they said anyway if I can I wanna save that turtle from barnacles or hurt, but yeah my home just too far away from beach 😩 I like animal especialy the one who care each other like this one its called cleaning station for turtle right? i mean that is not a suffering turtle there? sorry for my bad english pls correct me if I made mistakes
The white line you can see under the neck might be scar tissue from fishing line but there no apparent entanglement issue or problem. I have seen turtles with flipper and neck marks like that months after the line had been removed. If there was any evidence of a hook of fishing line entanglement, rest assured I would not have ignored the problem.
