Thank you for another thoughtful, beautiful and classy review, Lanier. Of the many fragrance reviewers out there, you are my absolute favorite. Hoping you keep reviewing for many years to come. Wishing you a great 2019. Happy New year! Stephen
LOL I have to confess about my outfit. I had just come home from the Gym. (I go at 5:30 am) and thought I would dash off this review but I hadn't changed out of my gym clothes. (sweat pants, tee shirt, gym shoes...so I threw on the scarf under my tee shirt and a sweater over my shoulders and voilà! Lanier chic!
Lanier, thanks for this review, which took me down memory lane. I also had the Forte version in the black bottle, which I believe is now discontinued. I currently have a bottle of Tuscanny Per Uomo and I immediately ran and sprayed some on my hand while you gave your review. Made the experience even more impactful. On a more personal note, that sweater just calls out to me and the attire you had on when making and pouring your java just reeks class and prestige. You are one of the few fragrance aficionados that give a background on the origin of the fragrance house and impart some of your encounters and fondest memories as sprinkled powdered sugar over a cookie or desert for an added touch. Great Review!
Always a treat to get to view your videos. I dream of having a coffee/cocktail/dinner with you and your friends at the Frederick and Nelson dining room, because of your great style. I was an assistant cosmetic buyer at the Bon Marche 1000 years ago, and remember Aramis as a really upscale men's cologne. I also knew Wayne Newton's gray stallion, Aramis, so I always think of that horse when I hear that name. (I used to show Arabian's and Wayne's trainer was one of the nicest men on the circuit.) See, you brought me down Memory Lane! Loved your video, Susan
Good evening Sir from North Carolina USA, just ran across this gem while rotating my collection and found your review from a few years ago, sprayed it on the back of my hand a sat back listening again to your thoughts on this beautiful fragrance, sniffing while listening was ideal. I ran across some replys from some of the heavy hitters in the frag com, Me Sillage RIP, Chris of Fragmental and Mr Smelly, have a BLESSED and HAPPY evening
Wonderful review, and beautiful new digs! I've been enjoying Aramis Havana for a year or so and have been wanting to try on some Tuscany. Love your style, music and wealth of perfumery wisdom! Cin-cin!
I just love listening to ur lovely stories . you paint the picture so well that makes feel like I am there . Classic fougere that I must refresh my senses & get a bottle . Thank Lanier for such a beautiful review . Cheers ☕️☕️
Indeed, Tuscany is a gorgeous powerhouse of a scent! I adore your association with Northern Italy, and I get a lot of the same vibe from it. I'm finally pushing the austere winter perfumes to the back and bringing out the green freshies for the spring. Since we are doing requests, how about 5 or so scents that you are liking for this glorious season or renewal?
Mr. Lanier, I just subscribed to your channel. You my dear friend are a true classic. Your wisdom of scents and years of experience draws me to both watch and listen to your vast knowledge of this intriguing community of fragrance lovers. I wish i could sit down and spend but one hour with you in my presence. However, through the miracle of the internet, i need only to touch a key, and i feel that i am present with a friend whom i have known forever and yet never met. You have that gift of persona in which captures the viewer to feel as fresh as the the fragrance you are given testimony to. God bless your work in which i so enjoy!!!
A very lovely review my friend. Loved hearing your memories of Italy. Funnily enough I mention Limoncello in an upcoming video I've just filmed. Gorgeous stuff, cheers!
Tall dark & handsome - I'm so glad you requested this fragrance review! I loved it! Lanier, I would so love to hear how your Anthem dinner party went AND a review from the books you purchased a couple videos ago! By the way, you look better than ever!
Oh the dinner party is next month...so that is yet to come.... What books did I get...I have been getting so many lately. the fashion books or the novels? Maybe I will just do a ...What I am reading right now video! Cheers Catherine.
Lanier Smith - fabulous! I look forward to the outcome of your party. As far as the books go, you are such a cultured person & have such exquisite taste, I'm always curious as to the types of books that capture your attention & the reasons they do!
Picked up a vintage bottle for $4 last year!!! It's fall now and I'm really appreciating what this classic has to offer. Spicy, sultry, fresh, manliness. Take care, thanks for the video.
Great review of an excellent fragrance. Can't wait to hear your review of Havana as well. I sometimes think these Aramis fragrances would be more popular if they weren't so inexpensive..
Aaaah, the morning coffee ritual, as profound as the ancient, Sanskrit soma rituals of lore! Your vivid Venice memory is wonderful! I still long to make it to Italy. In the meantime, you sold me. I shall snag a decant of Tuscany Pour Uomo tonight. Mahalos!
Oh there is soooo much more to that story AND that trip. But will save them for later. GO to Italy...NOW. You have to see it..and more than once. Cheers Jon.
Really great fragrance, it’s was on my list for a long time and I happened to go into Marshall’s and just see what cheapies they had 19.90 , one sniff pure love , I said this is my kinda fragrance! , cheers
Great Stories of Venice! When I first smelled this fragrance I just flipped out! It really wraps you in a blanket of sensual Italian bliss! It even has Rome in it. Fantastic review Lanier.
Lovely review. You seems like such a lovely person. I used Tuscany for many years back in the 80's and thought it had stopped being made. I loved it from first smell when it was being worn be an interior designer called Nicky Haslam who now is quite famous now. I've been a bit of a Creed addict for many years now but will definitely get a bottle of this, it's an absolute classic & very reasonably priced. Thank you. gareth
Thanks Lanier your review and vivid recount of Italy. I've meaning to get this for a long time now as I love Azzaro pour homme and I heardI this is very close to it. I'm going to blind buy it .👍
I have this perfume. Have you reviewed it before? I am sure you have. Or perhaps you discussed it when you were still in San Francisco. I agree with you. It is a fabulous perfume! Thank you for the video!
love your reviews mr. Smith ! Tuscano has a strong resemblense with Azzaro pour homme, but lacking the anise I think.. From the latest series of the Aramis classics, I bought three : Tuscani, 900 and Havana...A pitty that they are all a bit watered down so they don't last so good as the old ones, especially 900 has a whole different scent than the original, who was much spicier ...May I have the honour to wish you a very good weekend and thanks for the review !! Dirk
Cheers Dirk, and thank you so much for your kind words. I have been hearing that the newer versions of the line are not as bold as they once were. I would not know since I never smelled them in their original state. A pity that is but there you have it. I have to go with what I have...and in this case it is still a beauty. Thanks so much again Dirk.
Thank you Brandon... well they are always evolving...because I get board with having them all be cookie cutter. LOL thank you again. I truly appreciate that you appreciate them. Cheers.
i hv a mini bottle of this wich is probably vintage - but it doesnt hv the red black label on it. i really like it so will the big bottle be the same u think ??? thinking of getting it off fragranceX
James C. Williams thank you. But Fragrancenet doesnt ship to Brasil. Any other store sugestion? And can you describe if your bottle of Tuscany per Uomo has a batch number printed directly on its material?
Mr. Smelly: Be certain to get a vintage, you will be far, far happier as I have watched most of your vids and you and Scent Land are PERFECT gents for it (he has it, I think.)
Agree 💯% with you, this is a phenomenal gentleman Fragrance, it reminds me of my beloved Azzaro Pour Homme, although they are at the end different they are in the same sophisticated realm. I absolutely enjoy it. Salud my friend.
Great style my friend, my wife and I enjoy the same kind of mood, music and Coffee making, etc. And she makes (wine), cosmetics as an amateur and I make my own after shave and perfumes as an amateur. We have fun! Our vacations this year will be in...Grasse. We want to enjoy Provence (=Tuscany?) and learn on fragrances :) Happy Ostara/Easter
I used to own Tuscany whilst studying in Oxford. Walking along the narrow streets between lectures in my tweed jacket and punting along the river by ChristChurch college. I’ve just ordered this again and hope this will take me back to the dreaming spires once again. Great review as always.
@@laniersmith1798 Hi Lanier. Tuscany has landed. What a beautiful scent it is. Citrus and herbs. It’s simply stunning. Thankyou for reminding me of this gem.
Thank you Lanier Smith. Aramis tuscuny per is my favourite Aramis fragrance. I just wonder why it's expensive in Zambia. It's about $150 or probably more
Just had this in my hand at T.J. Maxx the other day but put it back because I wasn't sure. I'll have to go back and get it. Thanks for the review Lanier! (By the way, the "reformulation tzars" say this is not what it used to be. Should I get the new formulation anyway?)
Mine is new and since I have never smelled the original formula I have no reason to be disappointed by comparisons. So give it a go. If you don't like it... instant room freshener or Christmas gift! Cheers Matt
cejII Yeah I picked it up for $20 at TJ Maxx and for that price I think it's definitely worth it. I couldn't describe it any better than Lanier does here. His description is spot on and exactly what I get when I wear it. The scent profile is definitely on the old school side and I like that. I can't compare it to the original because I've never smelled it, but I like this new one on its own terms. The only downside for me is that it doesn't seem to last long on my skin (maybe about 4-5 hours tops). Other than that I think it's worth the low price tag.
Hello and thank you for an interessting review. Tuscany Per Uomo has been a part of me since 1985. My wife and I visited Estee Lauders office in New York, I was given Tuscany as a present and I´ve used it since then. And I´ve got «a million» compliments, both from women and men. I live in Norway, in Tromsø, beyond the Arctic circle. Tuscany is not for sale in Norway so I have to search for it travelling around. I wonder If anyone can tell me where to find it in western Europe.
Egil Jens Pettersen i live in Tromso as well, you can find it if you check it out on Prisjakt where it costs about 490 NOK for a 100 ml bottle (shipping not included)
It is from the film "A Life of Her Own" and is called "Invitation". Written by by Bronislau Kaper who also composed the score for Mutiny on the Bounty (1962), Butterfield-8 (1960) and the song San Francisco (1936) (the unofficial official song of San Francisco) This particular recording is by Beegie Adair. Lanier Smith You see, in the 80s I was gifted for Xmas with this amazing perfume and after shave set. But then I was a teenager and I wouldnt control my own perfumary prefferences, nor I would understand olfactive notes that much. Then this year, when I was walking in front of one Aramis Store here in SaoPaulo, I could feel the intensely uplifting aroma coming from the store's diffuser. I suddenly stopped amazed by the notes that I began to receive. Im 4 years vegan now and my olfactive perception has improved tremendously. So, a few mins later I realised I already had smelled it somewhere , sometime. Finally, I could remember the box where it came, then later came the image of the bottle but still no image of the brand. Thank you
Aramis, Brut, Jovan Musk, Barbasol shaving cream, and C. Howard Violet Mints were the male scents of my childhood. Naughty of me to deliberately omit Old Spice from this list. I dislike that scent even today. Nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and anise are great for hot chocolate, oatmeal and baking. Not so great together in one fragrance. However, Aramis belonged to the family of men that enjoyed dressing nicely. Their guayaberas were well-pressed. The creases on their pants were so sharp, you could almost cut your fingers on them. Nugget shoe polish was on their dressers or in the medicine cabinet next to the grooming kits. Ahhh, how I long for those days of yesteryear.
i have smelles the original Tuscany when it first came out, and i must say that it smelled a lot like Viking by Creed, back then. However, Viking is a bit more complex and with greater depth. In other words, Viking smells like Tuscany was meant to smell.
Holly OAKMOSS! I just bought one Aramis Tuscany from mercadolivre.com.br and I cannot feel any of the base notes that you describe on your amazing impression. I live in Brasil and have just received one Aramis Tuscany I had ordered on line on mercadolivre.com.br. I thought it would resemble the Terre d'Hermes parfum or at least the Omerta Mon Homme Paris. But its far from any of them. Can you please post new videos with the original Aramis perfumes’ bottles you have? I believe mine could be FAKE. And Im so mad now. Looking at the bottle’s bottom of the product I ordered, I see one transparent round adhesive with AB3 printed in black on it and on the right side of the glass’ bottom I see a hollow number 2 on the material. It came in a black box where you can see the TUCANY per UOMO LOGO in its front side. And on its back you can read EN SPRAY EM SPRAY and then a few warning notes (Cation flammable). On the bottom, its ingredients and its origin. This product came wrapped in plastic paper and with a paper label on the bottom and where theres printed the following ID on its top: TSCF025677GW TUSCANY;EDT 3.4 OZ SP M TUSCANY. Then a bar code with numbers on its bottom 0 22548 00521 7. When I received this product (Tuscany per Uomo by Aramis) I could also notice that, even with the sealed box I could feel it’s scent already, which instantly resembled me of the retail version of the Aramis by Aramis EDT 100 ml that I had also bought online, only this time on Ebay a few months ago, which I gave up because I found it to be too strong and nothing like Terre dHermes or Omerta Mon Homme Paris, for instance, where you can clearly notice notes like the sweetness of orange blossom, cinnamon and, oh, the oakmoss is so present as it dries on my clothes. But with this Aramis Tuscany per Uomo I got, all I can feel is a scent that resembles the retail Aramis by Aramis version I have bought on eBay a few months ago where I cannot distinguish any of the described basenotes.
