This road trip will take you high into the Tushar Mountains, which are the third highest mountain range in Utah and are located about 100 miles northeast of St. George and just east of the town of Beaver, along I-15.

Made this drive july 10th headed north and then east to Marysvale. Your video was great for planning. Made it just fine with the Forester.

You really do a fine job of catching the various views and annotating them on the map - very nice. Keep up the great work!

What a beautiful trip. I'm now looking to drive this route, plus the Skyline Drive through the Wasatch range. I love the stock music in this video. The jam @ 10:06 is so epic.

You put a lot of effort into producing these videos, and it shows. They are very well done! I just subscribed to your channel because my wife and I are planning to travel the west next summer. Your videos will be invaluable in planning those trips. I would like to make one suggestion, however. I’m a video producer myself. I have a background in shooting and editing professional video. I’ve been doing it for about 35 years. My suggestion? Cut back on all the effects. After a few minutes they become very annoying and difficult to watch. Simple cuts and dissolves will still tell the story in a very effective way, and be much easier to watch. Where you need to do a zoom on a map segment, for example, make the moves slower and ramp up the start and ramp down end of the moves. They will be much smoother done that way. Thanks again for the great work!

Thanks for taking the time to write detailed comments. One thing I have learned on many levels with creating these virtual video tours, is that there is "different strokes for different folks". In one sense, the transitions can be annoying to some people. But then I've been told that one should keep their videos flashy to keep the younger crowd engaged. I also use transitions for certain things, such as when the view changes 180 degrees, I use a transition that gives the illusion of the view turning 180. Seeing your comment and a few others over the previous months, I will probably begin tending to put in more simple transitions. Thanks again for your comments!

BackRoadsWest1, I think your scripts are interesting enough to hold a viewers interest without all the effects. You write very well, and if that’s you doing the voice-over, your voice is very easy to listen to. Keep up the good work.

Nice job. The fiance and I would like to do this drive coming back from Las Vegas this November, only in the opposite direction, heading north on 123 to 113, jumping back onto the I-70 East afterwards. Any suggestions for how we can look for the sights that you pointed out in your video? Will snow probably be an issue by that time? Amazing job. Absolutely amazing =)
@BackRoadsWest1
@BackRoadsWest1 5 лет назад
Thanks for the kudos Shawn. Yes, you can certainly do the tour in reverse. Some of the sights you see in the video are from the other direction. Simply exit I-15 at Beaver, find Hwy 153, then look for road 123 on the left. If you pass the ski resort, you've gone too far. Just remember, the route doesn't open until mid June or July. We've had a lot of snow up here in Utah, 150% more than normal, so I'm guessing it won't open until after July 1.

Great site! May I ask how many miles from Fremont Indian state park to the end of 123? We have a travel trailer, do you think that can go in the dirt and narrow path?

I don't. They are volcanics. You might try looking thru this site: geology.utah.gov/
