Congratulations to the highly skilled airmen. Justice 73 years. That is the sad element of the historical event. However, it is wonderful that one of the pilots is still alive to receive the honor.

David Martin NEVER once addressed this War Hero Pilot as "Colonel" . Aprox. 3 years ago while covering the story about the Black Major [ F-22 Pilot ] on 60 Minutes , david martin NEVER once called that Black Fighter Pilot "Major" . This seems to be a pattern for david. Is this reporter Anti-Black ??

He may be just what you claim, which would be a horrible shame indeed. However, to be fair, have you researched him to see if his address to all the people he interviews is similar, regardless of their race? Or perhaps it is not proper to refer to a person by their military rank and title after they retire? I don’t know, but I am curious now…

I think you're looking too deep into this. First of all, he's retired. And it's not typical for a civilian to refer to a military member by their rank anyhow.

Black pilots were forced to fly old outdated planes, while White pilots flew the most modern. Still the Tuskegee Airmen won. Someone stole the trophy, and hid it.

Probably related but the modern Top Gun was started in 1969. Also, how many categories were there as the page we see on the almanac shows "William Tell" and "Gunsmoke" (air to ground competition/not air-to air) with the unknown in 1949. I guess they won it in 1950 too as it says unknown as well (no)? It also says it is an unknown "Individual" and James Harvey says they didn't want to recognize "us". Actually they did recognize the unit just to the right. Seems strange to leave that info out.

It wasn't Top Gun. I don't mean to take anything away from the Tuskegee Airmen's accomplishments, they were great and deserve recognition, and I'm not saying there wasn't a competition, it just wasn't Top Gun. The Top Gun Academy (aka Navy Fighter Weapons School, Navy Strike Fighter Tactics) wasn't formed until 1969, and was in response to getting our butts kicked by Soviet made Migs in the Vietnam war. At first, we thought their technology was superior to ours, which resulted in the losses, but after capturing a Mig and flying it ourselves, we learned that it was our pilots who were lacking in skills, not the planes. So, an academy was formed to provide intense close encounter training.

It was not the Navy top gun, however it was the First ever of it's kind in US military aviation which is why it's special.
