Thanks so much for sharing this, Jonathan. We got the Beat Buddy a week ago and are planning to use it this week for church, but we couldn't work out how to save a set list. This showed it perfectly. Just checked, and our list for Sunday is safely over onto the Beat Buddy. Well done!

All that export/ import... just on the better side of dos. Hope they can bring this program into the modern world of click and drag or at least copy/paste.

Just got my BB , took a little asking in the BB forum to help me get past some stumbling block , but , it's working in my computer , very cool system , terrific sounding drums . Plus #1 on this company for there back up and forum . The pedal is a no brainer for getting it up and running , very intuitive .

I would like to say that the mac version works great, a few crashes but its work in progress, simple and intuitive, in one afternoon i learned it and created two sets (10 songs per set) even edited some stuff in the midi editor, so id like to say thanks once more, your videos and the forum mods make it quite simple and enjoyable, :-)

This software looks/works horrible. I like the idea behind the Beat Buddy pedal. But this software makes me reluctant to order one...

This was the first version, v1.33 is slightly better and does not have the 'slash' bug or some of the other issues. To be honest the software is not sophisticated and that is why some of the tasks seem a bit long-winded; I'm sure this will get better in the future. I also think some of the functionality that would make this more user friendly and intuitive may require a bit of a redesign of the back-end. For the way I use it, I can put up with the it's intricacies , others may have more of an issue, especially if you are going to be creating a whole lot of beats - as that requires an external midi editor.

Jonathan thanks so much l have a Mac and found the Beat Buddy almost impossible to get the material from the SD card to the Beat Manager.This info is helpful though.

Your tutorial is great. Can you tell me if I can creat a song with different time signatures? Imagine, 4/4 verse and 3/4 chorus? Thanks

Hi, I play fiddle joining in local sessions playing mainly Irish jigs and reels. Can you create your own rhythms to fit this style of music? Do you think a Beatbuddy would be useful for practicing fiddle? Thanks Darren.

Hi Jonathan thanks for the videos . I’m using a Mac and have added new content to the manager . I did struggle getting that done . Now I can’t seem to sync my project to address card. Followed what to do but sync won’t hi light to allow me . Help!

when creating a beat for a song can you use beats from different genres (latin, blues, country) for different parts of a song (chorus, verse, bridge)

Jonathan, Is there a way to make your own beats with the BB's kits via the software manager or does it only allow you rearrange patches and import/export midi files which is all I'm seeing on these tutorials?

No, the software allows you to manage the Beatbuddy and arrange it's content or add your own. You will need to use another program to edit the actual midi files. There is lots of talk at the moment of adding a basic midi editor to it but that would be some time in the future.

Thanks I appreciate it... I was thinking that must of been the case since I couldn't find anything in the manual or in tutorials. The samples and beats are good in the BB right out the box and I think there is a lot of potential in just rearranging parts. I hope they do come out with an editor because I really was under the impression the manager did that sort of thing. I'm just beginning with all of this but it would be nice to have that function for some of my own original songs...

I know someone asked about editing midi. My question is could I import a midi file? I wouldn't need an editor, just want to bring the file in.

D Fins Yes, but it can only have a a maximum of 500 midi events, you will also need to ensure that the correct drum mapping is used as even though the BB is GM compatible it does not have a mapping for many of the notes. See here for the BB mapping within various kits: mybeatbuddy.com/forum/index.php?threads/beatbuddy-drumsets-midi-notes-mapping.1873/#post-7939 You can use Beatbuilder (search for it on the forum) to quickly edit a midi file and assign midinotes to mach the BB drum mapping.

It is empty until you add files to it, I'm not even sure if it is needed.

Jonathan Aldridge i followed all your instructions on your part 1 video on how to install the BB manager but my user lib/songs folder is still empty. Nothing to click/ select to.

Not really, you can't have slashes in computer file names. However v1.33 is out now as is a Mac beta which gets round this and the slashes are removed when saving and is replaced by an underscore.

I think they are - that is the problem, they are not computer developers and outsourced the task. There is a brand new manager software on the way, redeveloped from the the ground up - but I have not seen it or used it as the beta is Mac only.
