This is the first pear tutorial I've seen where the shadows & light were fully explained and illustrated so that a 3 dimensional pear can be achieved. You're a treasure! Thank you so much.

Thanks very much for another great tutorial, and I love the way that you painted your shadows first, it looks so much more subtle and realistic. I'n going to have a go at this. Take care, David.xxx🥰♥️

I really enjoyed this tutorial and appreciate the step by step process. There was one layer where you mentioned needing to give the pear another layer - was that the yellow pear color or red, or both? I will be trying this today and tagging you on IG when I’m done. Looking forward to learning more from you. Thank you again.

You are most welcome :) It was probably both but it entirely depends on your subject. Some pears only need a couple of layers, some need 4 or 5... 🍐

Magnificent demo Sandrine ! One question: is Daniel Smith watercolor Essentials set (containing 2 reds 2 yellows 2 blues) good for botanical painting beginners? shall I purchase other colors, such as sap green, neutral tint and so on? Thanks

Hello, In principle yes, 2 of each primary is good, but it does depend on which yellow, blue and red they have selected for the set... I wouldn't buy Neutral Tint, as there is a black pigment in the mix, which I don't think is very good for botanical work.
