Wish I was good at styling wigs. Got this for my cosplay and it turned into a giant knot as soon as I tried working with it. Pretty much impossible to recover

I have an idea that could help if you ant to try saving it. Was the wig in hot water and fabric softener, then let it dry out completely. Once dry get a spray bottle with water and the fabric softener and wet the wig as you brush from the bottom of the knot upwards, keep doing this and it should untangle the wig! Also if you want to try styling again i recommend getting a crimper if you don't have one as it not only gives the wig volume but stops it from getting badly tangled! Hope that helps!

How come I ordered the wig and it looks nothing like what you started with. How come the wig I have looks worse?

I’m considering buying this wig- did you contact customer service? Also, are you able to describe what the wig looked like? I don’t wanna spend $20 on the hair and hairpiece if it’s gonna look bad

@@SilverAg_i just bought it and it's pretty accurate to the video. You just have to style it, obviously because packaging removes the volume and curls of the wig. Neuvillette's hair is pretty complex and very long, so I discourage buying it for inexperienced wig owners. *I* literally have no idea how to style a wig (this is my first wig) so it became very messy 15 minutes after I handled it, just like OP. I currently have it stored until I could learn and get equipment to style & maintain wigs.

@@ASEM-1123 I placed my order not too long after this comment, the wig came in two days ago. I have experience with short/medium wigs but not long ones. So far all I’ve done is section off the long parts, brush them out and braid it all so it doesn’t tangle on me while I’m working with other sections such as his bangs or the weird wisps that go over his shoulders. So far so good, only a few very small tangles that I was able to work out with a larger brush. I’ve watched a lot of styling tutorials and stuff of the sort- it is a lot more hair than I expected tbh. You have to be incredibly gentle with long synthetic hair, if it tangles you absolutely cannot tug on it- you have to kinda grab where the knot is and carefully pull out each strand that’s caught without tightening the initial knot You can try to set angle your wig but if recommend watching some tutorials. I start from the very bottom and work my way up in small brush strokes. If your wig is super tangled though, I think you can (after brushing out what you can) set it in warm/moderately hot water with some sort of detergent?? I’m not sure, I’d recommend doing your own research first. Good luck! I’ve got till September to get my wig in order so we’ll see how this goes 😅

@@SilverAg_ do you have any tutorial/playlist recommendations for this type of wig specifically? I'm currently too scared to dip it in water or put any sort of soap/shampoo on it because I really dk what I'm doing TvT. Also I tried sectioning off parts of the hair but they usually tangle/grab other parts of another section as I'm trying to section them so it got messy. Also I don't think I have the proper brush at all (I was just using my regular hair brush). Tbf this is a mistake on my part, I should've started small but I didn't think about that 😅

If you have one, just a wide tooth comb will work great. If you don’t have one, you can probably find a decent one at like- a dollar store, in their hair product section (ponytails, clips, elastics, stuff like that.) ideally one with a pic at the end, it can help section things without snags For sectioning hair, when it grabs other strands, I’d recommend just taking a second to set aside the section you took, then focusing on that little bunch and separating the tangles there before reincorporating it into the segment you were initially trying to comb out All in all, if you can get your hands on one, a wide tooth comb- Also the last video is just sumn I threw in, it’s a styling thing for a fake hairline. I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole and got sidetracked with ideas for my own wig lmao
