Tutorial: How to Connect VOIP phone to PC Directly | Share Desktop's Internet | Work From Home

I have been working with an iiNet VOIP Bizphone at the home office and I found it almost impossible to connect the VOIP phone to the modem as the distance is too much. Also, I don't want to have too much cable hanging everywhere. So I found a solution to connect the VOIP phone to my desktop's ethernet port and share the PC's internet connection.
Whenever the PC is on, the VOIP phone will go online.
Here are the simple steps:
1. Connect an Ethernet Cable from your VOIP phone to your PC
2. Make sure the PC is connected to the internet via WIFI
3. Go to network connections and set up Sharing
4. Set up DNS to 192.168.137.1
Now the VOIP phone should be connected to the internet.
If you experience issues, try to disable and enable sharing. For me, it always solves the issue.

The only video that helped me set up my IP phone within 5 minutes. No extra blah blah - short and effective. Went through 20 minutes of other videos on different channels, explaining all unnecessarily things. Thank you author. Every time i reset up my work station i go back to this video and it always works, saved tons of time to us

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I have been wanting to do this with my phone for months and I am glad I found your video. I have Windows 10 and all I had to do was to click on the sharing the WiFi and my phone started working right away. I did not have to enter an IP address or anything else. ALSO, I like how you get right to the point. Some people talk for 99% of their video about non-sense before getting to the point of why we are on the video, to begin with. Thank you for valuing our time.

what wires did you use? I have a desktop yealink that I want to connect to my laptop so that I can use it with our vonage business internet phone system - we had it connected to a modem at the office but I dont have that option at home. TIA

So for people using a wired internet connection for their pc, you would want a motherboard with 2 ethernet ports, right? Also can you connect a physical telephone to a PBX service such as VirtualPBX? They say that they provide a phone number when purchasing one of their plans.

im trying to connect my voip to my laptop using 3.0 gigabit ethernet adapter as i dont have an ethernet port on my laptop, it worked on the first day but now i cant seem to make it work

@adamthephoneguy1370 Is there any way to take the physical VOIP phone out of the loop completely and simply use a connected PC with microphone and speakers? Hence calls could be made from the PC, and equally any calls that come in would ring on the PC as well. Obviously when the PC is turned off, no incoming or outgoing calls could be made.

How about calling through your PC, in other words, say you have a spreadsheet with telephone numbers in the cells, how can you make it so that when you click on the telephone number in Excel, your computer dials that number?

it's the ehternet port on the PC, and the set up dose not require a phone line, instead it uses ethernet cable

I m using iinet, which is a Australian local provider, but I dont think there is an APP, I just directly dial from the IP phone. The IP phone only need interent connection to work, it will say online whenever there is internet connected to it and it start working, if I turn off the PC, internet is lost, and it will say no internet and stop functioning.

The ''PC'' port on the phone is for when you plug the ethernet cable from the router into the internet port, you can then also get internet on your PC by connecting via ethernet, not through the router, but through the phone. Similar to an ethernet switch.

You probably didn’t do it right or you had a landline phone not a voip
