It's not an instant influx of cash (that's a commissioner mode feature) but we go over the best way to reliably increase your budget each year by adjusting ticket prices throughout the season. We demo how this game mechanic works in OOTP 23 and OOTP 22, but it applies for older versions too.

Just want to point out that this is sort of exploiting a game mechanic because it is something you could never do in the real world (fans would revolt and PR would be terrible). So it sort of breaks immersion just like a lot of other exploitable things you can do in the trade (excessive trading, etc). It sort of just depends on if you are trying to constrain yourself to realistic behavior.

I definitely get that opinion. There's definitely a trade off to me because OOTP doesn't include other realistic factors. e.g. No team gets parking or concession revenue in the game, and it's unrealistic that the game doesn't give more weight to large market teams playing at your park. I guarantee that Cleveland gets more than an extra dollar or two per ticket when the Yankees come to town IRL, but that's not reflected to the same degree in the game. I'd agree that it's like trading where it's never going to be 100% realistic, so it is a choice of what constraints you place on yourself to keep the game fun, fair, and/or immersive. Given the other factors I mentioned, I'm content to use this one in my saves still.

@@lincarnategames this game is very challenging in this manner. It attempts to be a realistic sim (and is good at it!) but it lets you do unrealistic things to get ahead. The challenge for each player is figuring out what tings are across the line and what are not.

I think that once you accept the fact that no game is realistic it becomes more enjoyable and it is absolutely up to the player of the game to choose how they want to reason Amy decision they make.
