What ended up working for me is the following: using a version of Dolphin similar enough to the one used in the video (regarding the ability to add Gecko Codes the way shown in the video,) use the MemCard Manager default it to the USA folder (which is nestled w/in the GC folder.) Now boot up the game and TTYD will end up making its own folder for Memory Card A. The only deviation I made from this tutorial was I ended up using this new folder to place both the randomizer gci and the Memory Card found in the description, and deleting the save file that TTYD tried to create upon bootup. I hope this helps some people.
Can you tell me what version of Dolphin you used? I can't use version 5 since that makes the game run terribly (but the randomizer works) and versions 3.5 and 4.0 aren't working in the sense that the gecko codes aren't working at all despite checking numerous sources to see if I added the codes correctly, even the AR version of the randomizer code didn't work. So I'd really appreciate it since I've spent hours trying to get this to work.
@@LuigiDOTexe watch this video and it will tell you how to add gecko codes to any version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Abq72U7_AYc.html
Try and add [Gecko] (with the square brackets) on the line above the gecko code and make sure you keep the dollar sign and everything the same on the top line
I'm not sure what you mean about the menu, do you mean the screen after you press start on title screen? And were you playing with the loading zone randomized? (I'm not sure, but I think the info at the bottom left only appears when the loading zone randomization is activated 🤔)
How do you even get that banner to show up when you get on the dolphin emulator. I already have the folders in the description you have installed and have the texture packs installed on my laptop
sorry, what do you mean about the banner? are you talking about the text that shows up on the ttyd title screen, or you talk about something else before I launch the game? 😅
@@dalerben61 like either finding the correct iso file for the game to show up on the emulator menu once I open it. I tried downloading the game from several different rom websites but it doesn’t show up when I try opening it as an iso file
So I guess you mean like have it show like it is at 1:42? For that usually you can usually double click when you first use dolphin, and you can select a path. If not, do Options -> Configuration -> Paths, then click Add and find the folder where your iso file is
I assume this is in the intro cutscene? If so, I think it might be a problem with dolphin or something. Unfortunately I don't have enough knowledge to fix these, sorry about that. (someone in the randomizers discord might be able to help you though, so I'd try and ask there)
Dang that's a bummer. I'm sorry no one replied... Hopefully you find some solution somewhere or find some dolphin pros that could help you (idk if a discord or something for dolphin exists.?) Best of luck!
yo! sorry about the wait, have you found a solution to this problem yet? If not, I'd say try and run through the steps again to see if you're missing anything, and makes sure you got cheats enabled
hmh... I've actually never encountered that issue before, I'm not 100% but if its your first time playing ttyd on your pc, probably try and look if you have any other ttyd savefile for some reason, and delete them (don't delete them if you played the game on your pc before, I wouldn't want you to lose your progress). though idk why it would interfere with the rando. someone in the discord might know what's that issue, why it happens and give you better advice.
I have no idea. I have no idea if you can even download Dolphin or Gamecube games on Xbox 1. If you can, the only way I could think is probably getting it on a SD card and puting it in your Xbox 1.
I assume you talk about the G8ME_rel_Randomizers.gci file? If that's the case, it's in the randomizer discord in the randomizer-updates channel (link to the discord is in the description)
@@dalerben61 that is the file i was referring to yes, sadly when i go to the page i dont see the option to download my version. Im running the european version of ttyd and only see a file labled shufflizer_v2.01.gci
I assume something is wrong with the link you tried or something 🤔 but I tried this one here and it seems to give the right thing github.com/Zephiles/TTYD-Randomizers/releases/tag/v2.0.34
@@dalerben61 sorry i am completely new to this whole thing, i followed all the steps, downloaded and clicked everything like you did but its still loading the regular game. Did i do something wrong still?
hey idk why it wont let me add the code for the gecko it doesnt give me the option to add code is there something i mightve done wrong any help would be appreciated thanks in advance
@@dalerben61 well when i get to the gecko through the properties like you did in the vid it doesnt give me the to add new code maybe it's the verison of dolphin im using
@@derpjr5360 ah yes, if you use an older version, it's different, you have to copy and paste all the gecko code (including the name of the authors and the dollar sign, and whatever there is) into a notepad. Click on "edit config" or something in the gecko code tab, and the notepad will show up. What version do you use actually, in case that doesn't work
Hmh... Is everything from the rando working properly though? If it does, it might be a dolphin issue or some other issue, and I don't know how to help here unfortunately... You should join the discord server for the rando and ask in the help channel why it crashes, some people in the server might know
Oh maybe! 🤔 Though I can't help with that, I'm no dolphin expert for when it comes to emu not working. Like I said, people in the randomizer discord might be able to help you!
Hi there! That was a really great tutorial, although I am stuck on one bit. Where do you find the GCI file for the randomizer to put it into the memory card?
It is in the randomizer discord server, but the channel which the GCI is in moved, scroll down the text/voice channels, and it'll be under the archived channels, and then it is in # randomizer-updates 👍
I unfortunately don't have the knowledge on how to do this on wii. Other than the fact I know you need to use Nintendont, idk how that works. I'd say join the discord and ask away in the help channel, someone might know how to do it
Is the black bar saying the info about the randomizer showing up on the title screen? (just so I know if everything is working from there) and so if I got that right, it just "crashes" after you say yes on "start with file 1" or at another moment? 🤔
@@dalerben61 no i just started the game and the intro was laggy and dolphin l´closes and when I wanted to start Dolphin it said IOS_FS failed to rename temporary FST file.
hmh... I am not sure what might cause that, from what I had looking it up, it seems like a problem coming from dolphin itself (for any game), and you need to make sure any notepad or any other dolphin windows are closed. Updating dolphin also seems to maybe solve the issue. If it keeps doing it, I'd say look up for that particular error and you should be given some solutions and details about this error. (you would then be able to try the different solutions you find to help solve the issue)
From what I can see, seems that at the time I recorded this I was using 5.0-8663. But it should work with any version of Dolphin. Menus and options might've changed a little, but the process is pretty much the same thing (i.e. you don't need to do the gecko code into a notepad in more recent versions, I'll be directly in Dolphin)
It moved a bit, but it should be under Tools, and it's like the 7th or 8th option there to get the memory card Manager. I'm assuming that's what you talk about?
Sorry for the late reply, but yes its pretty safe. Getting the emulator, downloading the gci, getting the gecko code, its all safe. The only part that could be not as safe is finding and downloading a TTYD iso online. But that's just the case for literally any iso you'll try to download. Other than that, there shouldn't be any harm installing the randomizer!
