Using Turner Parrish's great piano accompaniment on Ain't Gonna Be Your Low Down Dog No More, this video explores how to achieve that low down piano sound as it was in the 1920s and 30s.
It's a simple accompaniment style, but simple doesn't necessarily mean easy, and you'll have to spend a good amount of time getting the hands to work together. Especially hard is getting the timing of the little stutter hit on the left hand.
You'll also notice that I tend to talk in numbers. Hope that doesn't create too much confusion for you. Playing piano is about seeing patterns on the keyboard. Understanding music in terms of numbers is the key to unlocking those patterns. If you're struggling with numbers, don't stress it. I'll have a tutorial on the subject shortly.
