Thank you! I've been interested in playing the saxophone all my life and now it's been in my list to do while still in lockdown. What a great Jumpstart!
If you really want to play saxophone you should definitely get a real one. Sounds way better, more notes, just better in general. But if you just want to have fun playing simple melodies, go for it.
How do we contact Alex to learn more about his Mini Saxophone to purchase, and also how to learn how to play the instrument. Has he written any books or lessons on learning to play the instrument ? Thank you for any information you can provide to me. Bill Arnett. bkarnett@aol.com
I've a mini sax in Bb, I've been trying to make it sound for like 3 days without luck until I get to this video, THANKS A LOT!!!! Greetings from México
Rock on! That is awesome! I am happy the video has helped you. Please, comment on our youtube channel or email us on our website www.minisax.com/contact for any other questions or help that is needed.
Friday the 13th 2020. Being one of the oldies who is in UK Corona Virus lockdown and very bored I spotted an advert for a Mini Sax. I instantly made my mind up I WANT ONE. . . I didn’t even know they existed. Being musical all my life but never having played reed instruments apart from a harmonica know nothing about them, so thank you for your excellent tutorial and I will shop for one now.😀✅ . . PS .. it is now Monday 20th 2020 and I have bought one and now awaiting delivery of one Mini Sax’ a C, 2 octave Xaphoon. 👍 🎷.
thank you for explaining it so easy, i just got mine today and i love it, well i don`t have perfect sax sound yet but that takes practise, in the daily i am a Harmonica Player and i play some normal flutes. but when i saw an ad for this instrument, i just had to have it. i am getting sound out of it and its a lot of fun.. i have the one that has 2 holes in the back of it
Thanks. You’ve opened my eyes. I play guitar but would love to also play a wind instrument. This is an easy way in, and not too loud for the neighbours. Hmmm ... a reed and some carbon fibre, and a permanently installed condenser mic insert ... maybe use the mini sax as input to my Boss SY-1000 synth.... all aboard for Funtime !
Was on google looking up alto reeds and somehow ended up here. Must've been fate because i never wanted something so bad like this in a while. About to order one after i finish this video lol
I play the alto sax and I'm curios as to wether or not playing this instrument might negatively impact my technique and embochoure. I know that playing several wind instruments can causes problems of that kind. Maybe some of you here in the comment section have experience worth sharing? Other than that, I want to say that this video was very concise and your playing sounds great, Alex :-) Other than
MiniSax ,that was more than 2. Months ago.we thought we got a stainless steel, when we opened the packet it was just a plastic one. It was from Kaloso site. For 29,97 dollar. We send it back. After a time we saw again a stainless steel, but it was an other site, and we ordered the real stainless.,but this was much expensive.. We ordered it on 23 th of march, and till now we did not received it. Our holidays and his anniversary did pass,he could not play his sax, like Alex showed, and he is very sad. We don’t know if it is from the corona, that we did not get it yet.hope we still get it. But than the sax will be in Indonesie and my host will send it to us in holland. Still hoping, than my husband can play on it,back home in holland. Fingers crossed. Yesterday he went for the third time to the USPS office,no sax at this tracking numer. It is still in Miami,he let us know.
Hi Alex, I just bought and received my mini sax. This will be my first wind instrument. I play piano and guitar so I’m going to give myself sometime to master this instrument. What I like about this, is that you’re not breaking the bank with investing in a sax, and then finding out, that it’s not your type of instrument. Alex I wanted to ask, the mouth piece, is that the one that came with the mini sax or is it a different mouth piece from another sax?
Thanks for the kind words. We do have our tune bundle which is a collection of songs specifically transposed for the mini sax. You can find it in our store: www.minisax.com/store
Hello sir.. Plz produce all possible notes( sounds) on this saxophone..like indian bamboo flute..loar octave, middle octave and higher octave.. It's my humble request to you.. Plz sir. Love from India..🇮🇳..💕.
@@MiniSax I play saxophone but I am interested in purchasing this mini sax, do they sell mini sax on different scales? Or they are all made to play in the Key of C with two octaves?
Hello Sir. Thanks for your videos, quite useful and funny at the same time. If you don´t mind I would like to ask you a question. I have been thinking about buying a mini sax in your web but my problem is I do not read music and I do not have a Windows computer either (to use the T3 app to learn music with it) but a Mac computer. So I am kind of stuck not knowing too well what to do. I would like to learn an progress with the instrument but I do not find any way to learn scores for minisax where fingering and explanations are included, at least for the very beginning playing the instrument. Any idea from you or whoever who know where to find or buy scores with fingering and explanations for chords included (for instance for 7th chords used many times in jazz music)?. Once again congratulations for your videos!! Kind regards
MrFriscos, you can take a look at our fingering chart. Here is the link to it: www.minisax.com/s/quick-start.pdf It is on the second-last page. It will show you which holes to keep closed/open in order to achieve certain tones. If you have music in tabbed format vs. scores that tells you which tone is which note, you can easily use our fingering chart in order to get going. We also have a tune bundle in our store which has a pdf sheet for each song. These songs have specifically been edited in order to make them easily playable on our mini sax. Please let me know if this makes sense to you. Thanks!
Nice 👌👌 In India it is not available in the market where can get it in india.i like this Alto mini sax .can i make it at home please provide me the measurement of this mini sax. 👍😊 Thanku sir ❤️
Alex, will playing your saxophone help with the embouchure development for full sized saxophone? I want to learn to play alto sax and would love a small instrument that I can take anywhere and work on the technique. Your instrument looks like a blast to play. Congratulations on a great invention.
Hi Alex. Not many tutorials out there, but I found lots of tutorials for the Xaphoon. Could you confirm the distribution of holes is the same between your instrument and that one? I find yours' sound cleaner, probably because it is metallic. If they are physically the same, I am inclined to buy yours, but if learning is different, then I need to find tutorials for yours.
Just seeing this... you can find our fingering guide which is different (easier than xaphoon) on minisax.com/details page, at the bottom. Download the quick start pdf which has it on the last page.
I played alto sax in school. I assumed this would be like that or maybe like a soprano because of its size. I was very surprised to find out that it's most like a tenor and that you use a tenor mouthpiece. What would happen if I put an alto mouthpiece on there?
Hi, Whats the difference with the two mini saxophones, is it just the material. It should do something to the sound right? Also, I really like this idea! Beautiful sound! You should do a video on both mini saxophones (comparison).
Hi Alex, the difference is obviously in the material, but also in sound. The sound of the stainless steel model is slightly bigger and deeper. Thanks for your input, comparison of the two will definitely be one of the future video topics.
Hi!, I have never played a wind instrument before, but I would like to get a Pocket sax to learn self-taught and have fun trying to play something close to jazz. Is this possible or do I necessarily have to learn to play saxophone with a master first?
