Thanks for the video. Just a small correction for auto exposure with a lens adapter. The correct mode for a lens adapter is Aperture priority and then the auto exposure works fine. The only thing you need to do is manual focus. I use a Metabones light booster with nikon lenses. Focus is easy with focus turned peaking on.

A couple of notes: 1, I highly recommend attaching the adapted lens to the adapter first, then remove the previous lens/body cap from your camera and attach the adapted lens. This will reduce the amount of time the sensor is exposed to possible dust or other particles. 2, Remember to go into the In Body Stabilization settings and set the focal length of the adapted lens you're using. Otherwise the IBIS will hinder your image quality if set to the wrong focal length. 3 The newer focus peaking setting is also your best friend when using manual focus, especially for adapted lenses. Little disapoint because i cant use exposure compensation when camera in on M mode and auto iso activated, like i do with my Nikon cameras. It is a big minus for me.

To prevent excess UV from causing purple flaring Olympus puts a UV filter in their lenses while Panasonic puts a UV filter on their sensor. If you put a Panasonic lens on an Olympus body you can have a problem with UV. The solution is to put a UV or Haze filter on Panasonic lenses you will be using on Olympus bodies.

Yes, you can record on an external recorder over HDMI using the “clean feed function” of the camera. Don't ask me how, I don't own the camera so I don't know the menus, but it can be done, high quality 1920x1080 ProRes HQ.

+Zorel1 Hi there! You have to set the ISO to 50 and close down your F stop so as not too blow out the exposure, plus experiment with the length of the exposure.

+Zorel1 At your lowest ISO and smallest aperture (biggest f-stop), if you're still getting overexposed shots you'll need an ND filter - basically sunglasses for your camera. Which kind depends on how long you want to expose for and how bright the light is.

Nice video! One correction: The OM-D E-M5II does support an infrared remote shutter release. I have used one that connects via the hot shoe (also used for a flash).

You can us Aperture (A) mode with adapted lenses, not just Manual (M) mode

+Ange Bayles Hi there! It depends on the lens, if it has a diaphragm ring you can set that on the lens and the shutter speed on the camera.

Hello Izzy Sorry to sound naive however if one were to run the HDMI cable from the camera to a laptop, could they use that as the external camera for live streaming? I'm just curious as currently I'm using the built-in camera on the laptop and since I have this camera I thought I'd put it to use instead of collecting dust :) ~ Karen

Hi Karen! You can use some DSLR for livestreaming (not all DSLR camera models compatible), unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to try a setup myself. As far as I know, you will need an extra cable (beside the HDMI cable) and a specialized software.

Hi Feritz! Its in the menu settings, you have to use a tripod of course and tell it how often you want it to capture for (highly recommended to use a grip for extra battery or even an AC adapter if its a VERY long sequence) Olympus also has a great tutorial section at: www.getolympus.com/us/en/learn_center

there is a mistake in video - em5ii has HDMI recording capability, it can record clean video with hdmi recorder but not all of them are compatible.

what is strange, em5ii doesn't record true 24fps and 30fps, only through hdmi recording you can get real 24/30fps

I love the camera, BUT I do not love the way the EVF works. Simply it does not mimic what I see with my eyes (like the DSLR am used to) OEVF is supposed to to do exactly that, but it does not. Its always trying to compensate when light is low, Or is it my camera? Any suggestions before I send it back?

I didn’t realize the Olympus could use both IBIS and Panasonic OIS at the same time. Good to know. I know you can’t do the opposite (Panasonic IBIS and Olympus OIS)

Hello, gsansoucie. The main thing to keep in mind is that If the Panasonic lens has an OIS switch on the lens you'll be able to activate it, but if it doesn't that's where compatibility will rely on the specific camera that you use. Thanks for watching.

Digital Goja thanks. I haven’t actually bought a micro 43 system yet. I am on the fence between the G9 and the EM-5 (Mk2 or mk3). Everything I have read, including what I have just re-read says that the only way to get dual IS (synch mode) between the OIS and IBIS is to use Olympus lenses on an Olympus body and Panasonic Lenses on a Panasonic Body. They will then work together to disable the conflicting axis stabilization’s. If I knew that the EM-5 IBIS could actually work with the Panasonic OIS, I would just jump on the EM-5 now and go with a few Panasonic lenses I really like/want. I’ve not found anything to say this is possible, save for your video which is why I was very hopeful.

You're welcome, gsansoucie. You're correct. It looks like you will have to use the Olympus lenses with the Olympus cameras and same with Panasonic to benefit from the features they provide.

I do a lot of hiking and heard that this is a weatherproof camera. How much water can this camera handle? I dont want to swim with it but i will take photos in the rain with this and need to know it can handle it

Hi there! This camera is weather sealed/splash resistant. You shouldn't have any issues getting it splashed or wet by the rain. Keep in mind that it's not waterproof and it shouldn't be submerged underwater (due pressure).

Thanks for the answer. I have just bought the camera and it came with a 12-50mm Olympus lens and I am wondering what other lenses you think I should start with? I am an amateur photographer that usually takes close-ups with blurred backgrounds or landscape shots. any help would be great

The 12-50mm kit lens is a great starter point, you can also check the Olympus 17mm f/2.8 which is great for portraits. You can also get a telephoto lens like the Olympus 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6. ;)
