You called it a tutorial...more of a masterclass imo. Bravo - you demonstrated a masterful understanding of the song and was able to pass it along to any pianists wanting to learn it
Thanks for the great tutorial, I think that Op. Schubert 's 90, D. 899: No. 3 is the best masterpiece of piano music ever, when I listen or play this masterpiece, I feel strong emotions of transcendence. when I'll be dying, I wish to leave this world with this masterpiece playing.
Dr. Tingting, thank you so much for this video. I studied piano as a child for 15 years before giving it up as an adult. Now in my 40's, I'm getting back to playing and working on this Schubert Impromptu and your tutorial has been so helpful in making me think about how I want to phrase and interpret this piece. It's a wonderful video and your playing is also incredible.
Dr. Tingting, I just recently found your channel. I enjoy listening to your tutorial and analysis, and learn so much. You are an excellent classical piano educator.
this is the one tutorial ive been looking for... thank you Dr. Tingting! It feels like im having a great piano teacher right by my side, and your inspirations are beyond this one tutorial
This is great stuff! Thank you! I had a doubt , where all you can use the volume pedal here? Is it up to the performer to decide ? I feel pianists like Kempff and Horowitz always use the volume pedal in this piece, do u think so?
Esta pieza de Schubert es preciosa y muy sentida. Tengo ya la partitura y voy ha empezar a estudiarla en este tutorial...me gusta como lo explican y además ver como ella mueve los dedos es una delicia....gracias!!!!!
Great tutorial! Thank you so much! Love and struggle with this piece. 😊 I think it is quite important to hold the melody line with pinky (as long as it doesn't disturb the eveness and softness of the accompaniment of course) in order to provide good melody legato. Agree? This is probably one of the hardest things to master in this piece. It will never be good enough. Can always be improved. A life long project! 😅
I always think the perfect legato is a combination of two things: one is to physically hold the finger, the other is to sing in your heart. Singing (even if silently) helps you carry the sound through.
@@tingtingzhang adoro esta música. A mão direita é completa .ela faz o papel de melodia e harmonia. E com a mão esquerda junto fica mais completa ainda.
Thanks for your tutorial! I have a question about the trills. 4 example in measure 19, do u trill from the written trill note to the note above it or bellow it?
Very good question! For this piece, the pedal pretty much goes with the harmonies. Whenever the harmony changes, you want to change the pedal. For example, at the very beginning you can generously use one pedal per measure. Then measures 3&4, you would have to change by the chords in left hand. This is a general rule. In the middle section where the harmony changes more often, your pedal will need to follow that. For instance, in measure 27, you will need to change the pedal on every half note. Another tip is to listen attentively, let your ears guide your foot.😊 You will notice if you had too much or too little pedal. Hope this gives you some idea.
