Though tracks, and wheels are a fundamental part of tanks, they sure are a pain!!! Once again you have made an awesome tutorial for both people who are new, and for community members wanting to improve. The whole video has a professional clean presentation, which makes for easy watching. Great work on these tracks, I find it difficult to decide on how to paint the tracks, I normally focus on rust, however after some experience, aided by videos like this I think a darker black/grey is a more suitable colour. As always Keep up the good work! Thanks
Though you not a fan of somewhat shiny metal showing on the track, but unless it just ran through mud the track cleat would still show. Just view some the photos of the Ardenne panzers or the Russian you will see that there is metal showing. But, all in all good work
Top quality and to the Point ! Most excellent video... Will give it a go on my IDF vehicles.... they are entering that phase of the build... so... Thanks for posting this !
you need to be careful with enamel products on those kind of tracks because the thinners the paint is made from will eat away at weak joints, but i think you use just about the right amount., one thing i do is i do not put pigment where the road wheel is in contact with the track i tend to keep that a bit cleaner
Cool video. It's weird cos a month or two ago, I discovered the very same thing, only I use NATO black and flat earth, but basically the same colours. I have literally just finished the mud effects on my Bergepanther and it is quite muddy! I have a few things to finish off and I will post some pics on Google+.
The weathering on the whole model looks excellent but i think the tracks could be improved if you used a product on the high points of the tracks to replicate steel. Even tracks that are caked in mud and dirt still have high point areas that reveal worn steel.
Thank you. As I mentioned in the video, I'm not too much of a fan or metallic highlights like that, so I just left the grey colour colour show through there. I may go back eventually with a 4B pencil and make them look a little more metallic.
@@Panzermeister36 with "wau" he means wow not "woof" like in the google translator. But he can understand english and just writes german. (at least I think he can understand english)
@@Panzermeister36 Thanks mate. Keep up the good work. I've learned quite a bit from your channel. Maybe one day if the world opens up I will attend one of your tutorials.
They are basically impossible to get now, as Adam Wilder sold the company off a few years ago and the factory that makes the products is located in Russia.
Hi. For plastic tracks, do you paint them before or after you put them on the tank ? If you paint them beforehand, wouldn't they stiffen and be very difficult to fit around the wheels? Thanks for your reply
Great looking effect! I like it! I use pastel chalks for mud/dust and i'm pretty pleased with the result in general, however i do love to watch videos showing other products and techniques, like yours. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Evan, once again great technique and presentation! I too, like Rolling Thunder, use pastel chalks. My budget doesn't really allow me to buy many of the pre-packaged pigments so I bought several artists chalks with various colors (one box of 10-15 chalks costs the same as one bottle of pigment) and ground them in a old coffee bean grinder. You can create quite a variety of colors by mixing the chalks. Keep the videos coming.
I don't spray a varnish on them usually. It has the effect of toning down the pigments or bowl them away. Most the of the enamel effects will hold the pigments on from my experiences too.
No sir. Thank you. I like what you're trying to do. Streamline the process into steps. That's exactly what someone like me needs. A list of steps to follow.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. I've got another video just like this but on doing the rusty spare tracks on this build, and I hope to have that one up next weekend.
Panzermeister36 Love the Marder, as much as your other tank that you did, what was it again....Panzer III, it really makes me want to try to do a winter camouflage/white wash tank! Keep making these awesome tutorials! 👍👌👏
