Yes they are! I just used it tonight to make a very cool project! It's so much fun. :-) You will not look at applique quilts or projects the same way every again.
You are going to do a fabulous job, I wish I lived closer to attend. You explain everything very clearly, I will be your guinnea anytime. Congratulations and have fun stitching. ♥️🌺
Thanks to you, Ive made Brother and Simply applique somewhat richer :) I purchased both, and now am watching everything possible so I may get busy and make Christmas items. Thank you for all you share with us.
Hi Becky, you are a great teacher, thanks so much, I wish I could see you in Houston. I was there 5 years ago and it was so awesome. I live on the Pacific Coast in Canada and our dollar is not as good as yours so makes traveling very expensive. I have the simply applique and scan n cut and so happy to have your video. So helpful. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy your videos and all that you share.
Becky this was fantastic!! that machine sews beautifully. and the Simply Applique is great!!! Thanks for your time!! Have fun at Festival!! wish I could be there!!
Hi Becky, Thank you again for a great demo.I will start using Simply Applique now watching your videos. It is great to know that someone knows how to use it. No one in Australia know what Simply Applique is when I talk about it. Thanks for sharing it with us all.
Oh my heart I absolutely LOVE this. Well I guess I better get the scan and cut and simply appliqué. I have the cricut maker and would import files in but this is SO much better, Thank you for you time in teaching.
Awesome...I really enjoy theses videos because I’m so pc useless and I’ve got a Bernina embroidery machine which I don’t use to it’s full potential mainly because I don’t know how...but I’ve picked up some knowledge from watching you that’s given me the confidence to try and give it ago ....and you never know I might even get myself a scan&cut. Please continue tutorials along these lines. 😘💐
Thanks Becky, just what I needed to see, I purchesed the Simply Applique package and then didn't know what to do next...... I also have the Quattro 6000D and the first Scan N Cut machine. There should be nothing stopping me now.
Awesome instructions Becky!! You are going to be terrific when you do your real demo!! I love all the different patterns, software and equipment you show and demonstrate for us!!
Be sure to do a run thru with the Scan n cut they have at the show as they likely will have one of the newer DX machines and some of the selections may be different. You don't want to be surprised by something named differently in the newer machine.
I am so glad you made this video!😎 I get "wrapped around the axle" by thinking, "Oh, that only works with her machine..." I need those reminders to tell me: that could work for me! THANK-YOU!!!😘 You will be great at the Quilt Show!💕
Super nice presentation. Clear and easy to understand. You’re going to wow them at the show. Your enthusiasm is contagious! I’m glad I already have the SNC and SA or I’d be shopping right now! Lol.
That looked so SUPER fast and easy. I always use the temporary spray glue. You are very good at demoing Becking. Hooray! I know you will do a great job. I see great things in your future. I would love to walk up and surprise the heck out of you at that show, but it won't be happening this year. Have a great time.
Thank you so much for all your embroidery information. You inspired me and I purchased my first embroidery machine. I am so loving learning on it....didn’t think it was something I could do until I watched your videos. Thank you so very much not just from me but from my family. They have all enjoyed learning and making things. I also purchased the Scan n Cut you recommended. Haven’t used it yet. Ideas for future videos might be how to turn an SVG file into a PES file. Thank you so much!
This was a great video, Becky❣️ It is the perfect project to use for a 30 minute video. I was really curious how Simply Appliqué worked. Thanks for the info.
Hi Becky, I love your videos. I hope that you can get some compensation for your affiliate links. Maybe AllBrands will give you a link for the ScanNCut too, I am so interested in these two products because of you. I need vp3 files so I am so glad to know that Simply Applique can export in all different formats.
Fabulous tutorial. I have Scan n Cut guess I have to get the Simply Appliqué now. Spent lots of $’s for Baby Lock w/embroidery and have never figured out how to use it. Guess I’m going to start now. Thanks.
I read all the info about this software and it only listed compatibility with Brotber machines! I own a Baby Lock and tvey both use PES formats! I have emailed AllBrands to ask if they will work with my Baby Lock before I pay $199 for the software
Hello first of all you are going to do GREAT because you are a good teacher and you explain things very well. I have bought a lot of things because of YOU, I got the Simply applique, I am going to put a name on a big towel and what would you suggest as the setting, I'm going with a satin stitch and what would be your settings, if you think I should do something different PLEASE let me know. Thank You
Hi there! Personalized towels are such a great gift whether they have a name or a monogram on them. Now, I make no secret of the fact that I'm not a professional embroiderer, so my advice is this: do some research online and follow the advice of professionals. Here's a great article - www.wilcom.com/Hatch/Blog/ArtMID/8936/ArticleID/16/Top-10-Tips-for-Embroidering-on-Towels.aspx You also might consider a monogram and DesignsByJuJu has some gorgeous ones: www.designsbyjuju.com/alphabets/monogram But the one piece of advice I can always give...Get a small washcloth of the same towel you want to embroider and test at least one letter on that first! You won't be sorry! Hope that helps!
Wow, love this, thank you for honoring my request for this demonstration, I am going to have to play catch up and get a little more techie. You are a very good teacher and I hope you can get on board with some of these companies to teach for them. Maybe the quilt show demo for all brands will be the ticket for you. Wishing you the best of everything for the future.
Hi Becky I have had the scan n cut and simply applique for over a year. You have helped me to start using. Maybe tomorrow lol. But really i do want to start using it . I have a too cute Christmas Nome towel topper from Embroidery Library I want to make for my daughter. Should i queak them a bit? Going to go look at your other videos.
I know this is almost 9 months later, but there is a function you could have used that would have saved some time and reduce bulk, meaning no stitches under where there was fabric overlap. Super important if you used a satin stitch, or if you are using thinner fabric. You are a great instructor, easy to understand. Thank you
Yes, there is a "remove underlying stitches" feature of Simply Applique. I've found that it only works well when using the satin stitch but I haven't been able to get it to work for the blanket or the bean (running) stitch. Simply Applique is a module of BES4 so I imagine it works better when using the full software as opposed to only a module of it.
Well darn. I've been drooling over this software ever since I watched your first video. I went to order it this morning and I guess it does not work with a Mac. I am so disappointed! Love your tutorial though. You'll be great at the show!! Have fun!
Love this...curious..can you use the software to convert in the opposite direction..take an embroidery applique file and convert it to a fcm file to cut your fabric for your applique? Love your channel!
Intriguing. Of course I had to test this out right away! I had partial success. Yes, there is an option to Export SVG from an .fcm file and I was able to do that. However, I wasn't successful when importing an existing applique file (.pes, .jef, etc.) to create an SVG.
Great job! You can demo for me any time. I do have a question. If I was using the satin stitch instead of the blanket stitch do I want it to satin stitch below where the other pieces overlap?
On the satin stitch, you click on the top piece to highlight it, right click, and choose "Remove Underlying Stitches". I haven't gotten that to work on the blanket or run stitch but it works on the satin. Thank for watching!
Thank you Becky! This was a great demo. I have the ScanNCut DX225. Maybe used it five times with very mixed results. You've made this look soooo easy. I also have a Solaris and I didn't realize I could send my design via WiFi. Maybe I should go back to my dealer and find out exactly what I've got and how to use it. I'm so looking forward to retirement so I can do this far more often than I have time for now. Love your videos! Cheers to you!
Yes Ann you can! Go ahead and install it and when you activate it, it will recognize that serial number on your old PC and it will ask if you want to deactivate that license and you should tell it Yes. Then it will install on your new PC. If you have any trouble, you can call their customer service. The number is in this link. www.brother-usa.com/virdata/product_downloads/consumer/simply%20applique%20instruction%20manual.pdf
Hi Becky, can you tell me if the software will work with a Bernina 790 sewing/embroidery machine? Bernina has its own conversion, ART and also reads EXT.
When you saved as @ 16:44, you saved to v.10 PES. What’s the difference between the other versions below? Great tut. You’re gonna do a fantastic seminar! Just have fun! I predict Allbrands will sell out of Simply Appliqué after your presentation.
To be honest, I'm not sure of what the different versions mean except that older machines may not read up to the latest version of v10. Thanks! I told them to bring plenty of copies. LOL
I just did my first Simply Applique test project. When you stitched the stocking part, the blanket stitch puts stitches where the heel and where the cuff attach. It looks like you placed the heel and the cuff fabric to overlap those stitches so only the final blanket stitch shows. That's where I had my problem. I didn't cover the first stitches with the overlapping fabric and ended up with 2 sets of stitches. I found a function in SA to remove overlapped stitches but can't seem to make it work the way I think it should. Have you used that function or is overlapping the fabric the easiest solution? Thanks for all your teaching help. I'm loving Simply Applique!!
I guess I should have read all the comments first. I see where you said "remove overlapped stitches" worked with satin but not with blanket stitch. That's what I found, as well, but thought I must have missed a step. So - I'll do what you did and overlap the fabric. 😊
Becky, I would've deleted all my lines that I did not want before I saved the FCM file. That way you wouldn't have to delete them a second time when you went to format for the appliqué program. You're doing the job (delete) twice. Frankly I would've saved the file twice. Once with the not reversed labeling it as appliqué, then the second time (reversed image) for the the cutting . That way in the futures all you have to do is cut then appliqué your design.
Hi Becci , love your videos and tutorials. Really love the Simply Applique software package, 😃but so disappointed I am unable to buy this in Australia😪. Looks like it's been available since 2016 in USA. Do you know of any way I can buy it her in Australia happy to pay shipping. LOVE LOVE LOVE Applique.
Yes! The manufacturer of the software allows users outside of the US to email contact Allbrands and then they can sell you a serial number and you can do an online download. No shipping! Yay! Email barbara.douthat@allbrands.com and she will take good care of you. Take care!
You’re going to help sell a ton of these...you’ve sold ME!! I’ve coveted a Scan n Cut for years & after watching your video, I’m ordering one for myself for Christmas! I’d heard they had issues with the stickiness of their mats so I’ve held off getting one but your demo convinced me I NEED both the machine & that appliqué software! Thanks SEW much for all you share...you’re a great teacher. 💕
The stickiness of the mat straight out of the box is for paper crafters. You'll need a Fabric Support Sheet to create enough stickiness for fabric. I forgot to link to those sheets in my video (doing that now) but here they are. amzn.to/2pmaOiu Don't use these for paper (they are so sticky they may tear paper) so you may want another standard mat if you're also a paper crafter. Enjoy and congrats on your new toy! You'll love it!
hey beautiful lady, you may want to explain when your positions the pieces on the screen, that you can have more than one fabric per cut. just to make it clear for those who may be new. everything else is awesome for someone who has never used a scan a cut before. i want one now!!!
Great advice! I really appreciate the feedback. Sometimes when you do something so many times, it becomes a "no brainer" for you but others are like "wait...what?" lol I also realized that I didn't scan the mat with the fabric on it for fabric placement. There's a button for that to preview where the designs will land on the fabric before cutting. That's a step I normally do but didn't this time because the fabric was large enough to cover the entire quadrant. The first time I practiced this off-camera, I did that but this time I didn't. So I will add that step back in. Hopefully that helps! Thank you again so much for the feedback. That's exactly what I was looking for!
@@PowerToolsWithThread No dramas, I teacher too I wish someone would have giveen me free advise before a big show. can't wait to see/ hear how it all goes!!
Can you pull in an applique file and turn to cut files? I have a brother machine and a PES applique file….rather than cut by hand I would like to cut them on the scan n cut.
Yes! The SNC reads pes files. However, not all files are the same and you may or may not get exactly what you need (broken lines, extra bits, etc.) If you have Embrilliance Essentials, you can change the placement stitch to an svg and then you know for sure that the SNC will cut exactly the size you want. Here's how to use a pes as cut file - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3oVzfJvDR70.html Here's how to create an svg in Embrilliance - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4w52l-Epo8A.html
Hey Becky, you nailed it & are ready for Houston! On the computer screen when you selected the blanket stitch there was a pink motif stitch. What is that?
In the drop down menu for Satin, Blanket, Run, there is also Motif. If you choose Motif (vs. blanket like I did) a ton of pretty stitches come up to choose from in that Motif menu. You know the ones...they are on our machines and we never use them. lol I didn't demo that due to my time constraints but I'm going to practice again off-camera and see if I can add that in without going over time. Thank you!
It was great. The only problem I had was you used buttons on the scan and cut without telling us what the buttons did. You said I like this button which is great but for first time users we need more info to remember which buttons. Thanks
Not necessarily. You can import svg files into Brother Canvas Cloud and the cloud will also generate the .fcm files needed to import to Simply Applique. So if you have, say, a Cricut or Silhouette, then there is a way to print a calibration page that you can use to take a picture of a paper applique pattern with your phone and send it to the Cricut cloud to create the .svg file. Then take that file and import into the Brother Canvas cloud which will create the .fcm from that. It's an extra step, and a pain, but it can be done. I used to have a Silhouette and it was such a pain,
Hmm, I don't know. I mean, I'm sure it could, but I'm not sure about stabilizing the wool so it won't bunch up under the knife. And then I'm not sure about the fuzzies that would be left behind all over the mat. I'm sorry, but I've never worked with wool. If anyone else has, please chime in! Thanks!
Eeee gad if do overs makes perfect ....I’ll be superstar 🙄😂 I’ve got a DX so the buttons are different and figuring out my hoop size from mm is awfull! I’m not sure if I’m going to get off the starting block, but I’ll keep pushing at it. Sigh....
Great video. You will knock them dead with your demoa Question. The software says it can import & save as PES, but it also says its compatible with Brothet machines. My Baby Lock uses PES formats, so can I use them on my machine? Not putting ouf $199 until I know if I can use it. Thank you!
Hi, me again this is where I'm getting mest up, ok I have the pe 11 where I can transfer from canvas to the software, now you have a lot of pieces altogether and I get this , when I m getting to transfer the applique to de machine with the USB how do I know. To transfer the pieces all in one design to be able to applique all in the embroidery hoop? So nice if I could see a video that do this start to finish ! Thanks
