[ Tutorial - Volantex Ranger G2 - Fix that bad Thrust Angle ]
Well, this planes stock thrust angle is absolutely terrible.
It is so bad, in fact, that on my Maiden Launch the plane nosed in hard as though I had full down Elevator on the Plane.
I setup Flaperons and with Full Flaps and Full Up-Trim on the Elevator I was able to mitigate this bad Thrust angle but is that the best solution?
Now, I'm going to Modify the stock Thrust Angle to get it where it should have been from the start.
Watch this Tutorial and see how ;-)

The real take way here is aligning the motor thrust angle to the CG.
@GroundControlRC
@GroundControlRC Год назад
Yes, that's exactly correct. Then when applying throttle it's not pushing the nose up or down. I did receive feedback from others that had purchased this plane later and they stated Volantex had corrected the thrust angle.

Got mine on order then found the videos about people with the nose ploughing the fields due to motor alignment. Well, its 2020 and august so they may have changed something but i doubt it - so ive made a note of this video, the washer diameter and screw size so i'll be prepared - thanks!

Thank you! It 's a great flying plane when the Motor Thrust Angle is correct. You should have seen my face the 1st time I launched and watched it plow into the ground ;-) See you in the Air!

4s motor+ 60amp esc = more power and weight in the rear, nose stays up.... GREAT VIDEO! GREAT STOCK MOTOR MOD!

Thank you much Paul! Yeah, I'm much happier with the way it flies with the new thrust angle. I'm going to test it with an 8x4 prop the next time out and see what kind of acro it can perform ;-) It's a nice FPV Cruiser but it's a Big change from flying Parkjets ;-) I'll bet a 4S will make it more of a Sport Plane than a Cruiser ;-) See you in the Air!

Thank you for this! Very helpful! Just to confirm, please, do I only put two 3mm washers at bottom to lift the angle or do I have to put two 1.5 mm washers at top together with two 3mm washers at the bottom?Thank you in advance!
@GroundControlRC
@GroundControlRC 5 лет назад
Thank you for the kind words! I just used (2) nylon spacers under the bottom of the motor mount to lift the bottom of the motor mount to give me the angle I wanted. The spacers I used were 3mm in thickness. That provided a huge change and greatly improved the handling of this plane. I hope that helps and I'll see you in the Air!

Thank you for this very interested video! Please I am French and my English is very poor. May I ask you to send me the size of the plastic part that you put and the size of the screw please ? I want to be sure that I get it ? Thank you very much
@GroundControlRC

The thickness of the nylon spacers I used on the bottom motor mounts are 3mm thick with a hole approx. 3.5mm. The screws I used were course thread, 3mm diameter, 11mm in length. The screws were a bit larger diameter than the stock screws. The stock screws are 2.5mm diameter, 8mm in length. If I had 2.5mm screws that were 11mm in length I would have used those. I hope that helps.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting this plane soon since price is reasonable. I have two small gliders already the WlToys F959 and the OMPHobby T720 but they are kind of small. I would like to have larger glider like this Volantex G2 1200mm, but only of the fix of the thrust angle solves the issue of nosing down. I'm also thinking of not using the landing gear and use a center wheel since I most hand launch. Do you still recommend it in 2020?
@GroundControlRC
@GroundControlRC 4 года назад
Yes, I recommend it as long as the person realizes it needs a MOD on the thrust angle. I wouldn't recommend it stock. The Ranger G2 is a very nice flying Glider once the thrust angle is fixed. It was a bit of work but well worth it. I can not only launch it very easily by hand but no Flaps are required on launch. The MOD'd thrust angle worked great and I now have an 8" Prop in it where there wasn't room before the MOD. I have to put a 3S 2200mah 25C LIPO in it to get the CG just right otherwise it would be a bit tail heavy. It came with a nice canopy replacement for mounting a camera as well ;-) If I had grass to land on I would just be using the Center Wheel as well. I'm going to be taking it out for another flight soon. If you can fix the thrust angle you'll really like it ;-)

Yes, that mod should be easy. I've done worse. Lol. I think I'll order it tonight before the BG 9.9 special ends.It will be about $76 after discounts.. Thanks

I am very surprised that thrust angle on your g2 caused that much problem. Andrew Newton's g2 seems to do ok. Maybe it is because he is accustomed to this type of airplanes. Hope your plane also flies well after the mod. I will be waiting to see the test flight.
@GroundControlRC
@GroundControlRC 5 лет назад
Thank you. Yeah, Andrew has flown many of these type of pusher planes and knew what to expect when he launched it. I wasn't expecting a factory designed plane to have a thrust angle that would push the nose over like that and it was my first launch of this type of plane. It completely caught me off guard ;-) I'll be ready for it this time ;-) See you in the Air!.
