I have the RTF one with the transmitter, and its so hard to fly, the transmitter doesnt have dual rates or expo, and its so overly touchy to fly its not fun at all. Tempted to put a different rx in it and fly it with a radio that I can program
You can program the Stock Transmitter in the RTF version using the Bluetooth App on a Smart Phone or Computer. Using the App you can program Dual-Rates and EXPO. Here's the Playlist for the T8S RX: ru-vid.com/group/PL_YiEhY7O1WasEHsB2wZP26r5SD1pgKs-
Really enjoyed your flight in the snow and how the plane stands out against the blue sky. Excellent! I’m ready to buy this plane if it’s in stock, but was hoping it would come with a landing gear as I don’t have grass to land on
Awesome Plane and I hope you can get one. It would have been nice to have it stock with landing gear. It didn't take much to fabricate mine though and they've held up well so far.
I think the ESC supplies the full battery voltage to the board and I'm not sure how much voltage it can handle. I don't know if 3S voltage would damage the board. I've also read the ESC is rated for 10A but I also don't know if the ESC is rated for 3S. I think the motor should handle a 3S just fine.
My flying sessions are no longer complete without several flights on my fish. I agree that it is a great little plane. Unlimited vertical and very stable in the air. I have some nice short grass I can belly land on too, so no need to fabricate gear either.
Yes, they do look like 55mm props. You might be able to use 65mm props as with the amount of flight time it gets the motors don't seem to be pulling much in the way of Amps. That may provide a bit more power and speed while sacrificing a bit of flight time. I don't know what the rating is of the ESC as far as Amps.
Okay GC been following for a while. You persuaded me...want one of these. Influenced by you partly to buy a few others Flying Fish being favourite so far. I am in the UK more likely 2 use ali or bang i see you have a link to ali. Will any of them benefit you and valid in the uk do you think? Keen to support u where i can I've learn't lots though your channel/channels. Thank you
Thank you for the kind words and wanting to support our channel and what we do. The links I provided in the Show Notes to Amazon and AliExpress will help us as they are both affiliate links. I try to provide links to as many vendors as possible but I realize not everyone can get products from those vendors. That Flying Fish is awesome isn't it ;-)
Got a cheap HobbyKing radio and the manual says in the warning section.."You need to turn the throttle channel(ch3) and inching switch to the lowest before you use. " Now it makes sense. Thanks.
I just wanted to thank you for making this great video. I am going to buy this plane based on your vide review. I am 68 years old and have been flying old line control planes since I was 10 years old! Thank you again for all that you do! I am a new fan! ❤
I didn't see a video where you changed out the camera. Did you ever complete that project? I had the same idea, was hoping to find someone that opened one of these up so I could see what was inside before purchasing one. Cool looking little helicopters, just need better electronics.
@@GroundControlRC I know the feeling, I must have 50+ projects on my to-do list that I'd like to make videos on. Keep up the good work, you have some great content.
Great videos and tech tip info! Could you help a newbie and steer me toward a supply source for props for the A280 I'd like to try some experiments with other props as well as get some original prop replacements Somehow.....all my props have been destroyed 😅 Thanks!!
Thank You! Yes, I provide links to things in the Video Show Notes, when I remember to do so ;-) I've tested several props on this plane and the 7x5 thin electric 2-blade prop provides the best performance. You need the ones that include the spacers as I used (2) spacers to mount this prop on the XK A280 Here are some links to those props: APC 07050E Electric Propeller 7 X 5E amzn.to/45f9Gwn 5Pcs APC 7x5 E Thin Electric Composite Prop LP07050E amzn.to/436JHp2 I hope that helps and I'll see you in the Air!
Hey bud! So I bought this and I’ve been using it stock with a 3S 45C battery. But for some reason it drops out of the sky like a rock right from launch it feels like there is no power behind it and I doing something wrong? I’ve already snapped the nose off twice it’s never been in the air just won’t make it. Gyro is on. CG is perfect. Thanks!
Hum...mine flew fairly well on 3S but not great power on 3S. Some questions, as I always go over these with every plane I have issues with as sometimes I overlook some things. Is your LIPO able to provide the Amps necessary for the EDF Unit? These EDF units are terrible on efficiency and require a lot of Amps. I don't know the size of the 3S LIPO you're using. Did you program the top and bottom of the Throttle Stick with the ESC? I try to remember to do this every time but sometimes I have a senior moment ;-) Is the Gyro correcting all the Control Surfaces in the proper direction? I've been able to catch this one so far but I've seen some RC Pilots that are much more experienced forget to check this one. I always launch my EDF Jets at full throttle with a pretty good chuck as they typically need some speed to stay airborne on launch. If none of these are an issue let me know and I'll try to think of something else.
@@GroundControlRC it is a 1300 MAH 45C 3S LiPo Not sure what you mean by setting the throttle stick. Do you mean 0 to 100%? I threw the thing in the sky as hard as I could and it just became a lawn dart. It seems to be underpowered and I’m not sure why because the batteries I have are good ones they are brand-name “Tattu”. I’m going to try the forest but I’m afraid it will fry my ESC or motor. Also the vector Gyro was defective so I had to install an aftermarket which doesn’t seem to be working well for some reason But that’s a whole Nother deboggle. :( I appreciate the help! Any new info is welcome. I’m determined to get it flying.
@@TheFlyinTek Yeah, programming the ESC so it knows the full range of the throttle. I sounds like you're definitely not getting full power and that could be because the ESC is not timing well.
@@GroundControlRC that sounds logical but shouldn’t it fly even at 80%? I mean I’ve got to be close to that. And it just drops like a rock. I throw it up and it glides or come straight down. Very sad because I really want to get this bird going she seems to be extremely nice I’ve seen your videos and my God it flies so beautifully. I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong
@@TheFlyinTek I'm just trying to think of things that could be causing the issue. Sometimes if the ESC isn't timing well with the motor it can really limit the amount of power. I also wonder if it could be the after market gyro you spoke of, what gyro is it? The Gyros I always go to are the Radiolink Byme Gyros. I must have at least a dozen of those now. The airframe is good so it has to be something in the electronics.
Awesome little jet, unbelievably light even with the 650 3s. Defiantly thinking about getting one. Id love too see it on 4s😂. Hope your keeping well, all the best
Awesome little flier👍🏻 i just got my flybear and after putting it together everything works great however when sitting flat on the table my right aileron comes up and left goes down when i put it in 3d mode🤔 but they seem fine and level off in 6g mode i have the rtf version and even when i straighten them out with radio they slowly start moving again lol did this happen to you with yours?
Yes, hard to believe a 3CH flies that well. Yes, the gyro seems to do some weird things on the ground but worked great in the air. Mine would kick the rudder all the way to one side so I just knew it was going to boomerang on me when I launched it but worked just fine. I'd test it with a ground takeoff 1st just to be on the safe side.
@GroundControlRC lol my rudder also does the same well at least I now have more confidence 🤣 I wanted to got out today but a little too windy especially with the gyro acting like that looking forward to putting it in the air now 👍🏼🤞🏼😁 I now have 2 great fliers thanks to you man🙏🏼✌🏽
I'm not sure and I didn't see that in the specs. I've had it approx. 150m away from me and it was solid on the signal at that range. It gets really small at 150m ;-)
One of the best 3CH Planes I've flown so I'm glad you're getting one. I think the airframe is good enough on this one to warrant a conversion in the future. I''m having a blast with it ;-)
@@BarbaraNowak-wq8cq I have the PNF version and added an external receiver to mine as I didn't know the protocol at the time. If you have the RTF it should bind right up by powering up the plane, then powering up the transmitter. If you have the PNF and are trying to bind without an external receiver, here is the information I've found. Protocol = FX / 9630. That protocol requires the latest Multi Firmware V1.3.3.33. If the correct protocol has been programmed in the TX, first connect the aircraft to the battery, then switch on the TX. After 2 seconds the binding is complete. This must be done after every battery change.
Hey Tony, how does it handle the wind? It looked like it was flying pretty great to me !! I have one but haven't had a chance to fly it yet! Think it's a keeper?
Funny you should ask that as I just got back from flying it in some Wind (5mph gust to 8mph). I was hoping for 10mph as then I'd have no problem hovering this plane. Had a near vertical landing ;-) I think it can handle a 10mph Wind and I will test that out when I have the chance. Yes, I think it's a keeper. Video coming soon....glad you got one as it's a ton of fun ;-)
I've seen that one as well. I was never really interested in the 2CH version but this 3CH version is a lot of fun ;-) If the airframe proves very stable there might be a MOD in it's future.
got this for my kiddo, something for him to play with at his mom's house. it can fly nice and slow and make a tight turn, easy to control, even with a little wind. he's 8, he loves it, takes it over to the school and is the most popular kid in the neighborhood. When he's with me we fly our warbirds :) love your channel man keep this stuff coming!
Who's a Lucky Boy? I dig My Seven Fifties, Vert Power is outta control and They Glide in any wind, Off My Cliffs. I want one. Unreal review thanks GCRC.
Thanks Jono! I'm very lucky to have received some very nice flying planes indeed ;-) Is that 750 out of production? I looked around and didn't see any stock.
EEK... almost $30 shipping... Sorry... too Expensive IMO... $223.50 Cnd Shipped. I can get a Bix 3 PNP for that price... BTW the Coupon only works in the USA.
I got mine with your code recently and I've ran about 6 or 7 packs through it and love it! I'm literally just about to open my Radio Master TX16s 4 in 1 and I assume this will bind to it just like the 400mm warbirds?
Hum....it's been so long since I had this plane I can't remember all the MODs I performed on it but I know it was a lot of work. Here is the playlist as everything I did will have been mentioned in the videos. I hope that helps. ru-vid.com/group/PL_YiEhY7O1WZhJkrStCNlHmtImYBMckfX
Great content. Caused me to get one. I immediately found a tiny buck dc to dc converter on amazon to reduce 3 cell voltage to the 7.2 volts needed by the receiver, used an old quad copter 12 amp esc with all the appropriate connectors applied and made a 3S machine with unlimited vertical. APC thin electric 7X4 and GNB 380mAH (which weighs about the same as the stock battery). Flights are short, but wow.
@@GroundControlRC I'm not as young as I used to be as evidenced by today when flying this thing, I pointed it up and gave it full throttle, and In an instant, it was too high for me to orientate visually. I had to watch it move to get orientation!
@@markculp6126 Hehehe...I still lose orientation sometimes. One of those issues with small planes. Much fun though with these Micro planes. Sometimes it's like flying a Bat ;-)
Hum...with the 7x5 Prop on 2S, given I hand launch the plane at 60% Throttle. You should be able to just cruise around at 50% Throttle. I perform mixed mode flights cruising around part of the time and full throttle for short burst performing aerobatics...I would guess my average throttle for an entire flight to be between 70%-75% Throttle.
I switched the prop to a gemfan 7*5. Much more speed and equal in vertical, at the cost of some endurance... Be careful with the throttle too... Fast change of power can literally crack the front fuselage and/or unglue the motor mount. 😂
Looks like they changed the receiver on the newer F22's and you can't bind the TX16S to it. On old version the wing/board lights initially flash then, wing lights stop, and board light still flashes until bound. New version the wing/board lights flash until bound. Old/new controller will not bind to new/old version...June24
It's a shame they keep changing these protocols. I don't know when they will learn that being able to bind to a Hobby-Grade TX is a great selling point.
I fabricated the Landing Gear. Here's the Playlist as I think I posted a video regarding the Landing Gear: ru-vid.com/group/PL_YiEhY7O1WZJ8ddJIqqYreQaczXPGYUG
