I love this comment. I think that’s what makes Julian’s voice interesting in one way. I has this sense of not super trying to begin with, so it still lends itself well when he actually isn’t trying. Definitely one of my favorite singers for lots of reasons. Lots of control and yet it’s so passive you almost don’t think about it at times.
Poor Julian, he used to be so drunk and now he can't remember much of those good nights, being a Genius carries it's demons, he literally changed the world with it's music, just so fucking crazy.
@@discosecret6363 The Strokes were one of if not the kings of the indie rock revival in the early 2000s, and with how huge of a genre indie/alt rock is today i’d say the strokes changed the world plenty

Every time I hear a strokes song I just imagine a working class hipster couple chilling in their small quaint apartment while this plays in the background in early 2000's in the heart of a Brooklyn fall night when rent was affordable.
@@ajaxlewis7664 simple =/= bad when it comes to drumming. The effectiveness of the drums is how well they compliment the song, and id say making the drums any more complex for a lot of the strokes early songs would ruin them. Fab isnt drumming to show off his skill. Im sure he could do much more technical drumming, but chooses to do more simple beats like this to pair well with the song.
@@blossomingbeelzebub I understand what you're saying, it makes complete sense. It's just as a drummer I'm selfish and want to build with fills when opportunity arises. His drumming is perfect for the song. Just leaves me biting my nails and curling my toes for the potential fills. Needless to say, this does not make me popular with the frontman 🤣
this was towards the end of 2004 I think, which is when they were all just exhausted from crazy touring worldwide for Room on Fire. they were probably just tired and a little drunk
