There will never be another David Cassidy. He was one of a kind and Cassidymania was wild & unforgettable. We lost a true gem too soon: a gifted musician, singer, actor and producer cherished by millions of fans.
I agree. David was a gift. He was incredibly gifted, beautiful, & charismatic, yet completely relatable & wickedly witty. He was an ideal blend of his mom (a dark haired beauty) & his beautiful, multitalented dad.
He was a short puny guy and couldn’t handle money very well and couldn’t handle liquor either. He will never be confused for a tough guy. He couldn’t even get tv roles because he was so short and skinny with no muscles.
@@holdenmcgroin9774 from what I'd read he initially wanted to be an actor but once his music career started taking off he didn't have the time to perfect his acting skills.
I loved the Flying nun and partridge family. Thankyou Mr. Slade. These shows helped me exist, survive the orphanage I was raised in. Over 144 kids. I can never Thankyou enough
The music impresses me to this day, and it is too bad that David couldn't appreciate it...or his gorgeous voice singing those songs! Much more than bubblegum, for sure!
All things considered, their music does stand the test of time -- at least for those of us who lived it. Hey, Jack Black (Tenacious D) did an AWESOME remake of "I Think I Love You" for The Croods (a movie.) It kicks butt!
Yep, I'm a 63 year old hetero British bloke and I absolutely loved David's (and the Partridge Family's) music. Wish I could rewind to those days just for a few weeks to enjoy the excitement.
Growing up in the '70's David Cassidy was everywhere, the Partridge Family songs were all over the radio and David's face was stuck on every girls folder at my high school. Us regular guys had no chance, every girl loved David Cassidy and who could blame them! He was the man of the hour!
I had David’s picture all over my room as a kid. What’s really funny is that some of the lyrics to Partridge Family songs, taken out of their bubble-gum context, could be rather suggestive. “I’ll treat you like a woman, love you like a woman...” “One night stand is all I am...” And there I was at 8 and 9 years old singing them at the top of my lungs, LOL.
Very suggestive for example their song “I can feel your heart beat” when i really listen to the lyrics i was like is that about taking her virginity? Lmao
I had David’s pictures all over my room also. I got to see him in concert in Amarillo Texas I believe in 1973, something I will never forget. It is hard for me to realise he is now gone, RIP David.
David had talent ,charisma and obvious sex appeal. He was treated badly by alot of people including ones he thought he could trust so that would not help with his predisposition towards alcohol. He deserved so much more and though I never saw him in later years the shows he did cemented his talent ie blood brothers, efx..gone too soon and sad that he mayb never got peace and total happiness .hope he does now ..🌹🌹🌹❤
I couldn't have said it better. I think that's why I grieve so. I feel we had a part in it as we elevated him to such a beloved level that for years he COULDN'T have a life. His dad (an alcoholic) also created deep seated issues for him which David never reconciled because of his father's tragic death while David was in his 20's. And then there's the alcohol... But even that wasn't understood in terms of addiction and genetics until the last 20 years or so. He never got to enjoy David Cassidy the way we did.
@@allisonmarlow184 Hi Alison yes you are right and even though I never heard much about David since PF i was more aware of him as a singer rather than on PF.I have over the last few years watched many of his concerts and interviews ..He often mentions that alot of people couldn't understand that he was David playing the part of Keith (so was a totally different person to the public perception of him).which is really sad as we all want to be accepted for who we are ..You are right about the alcohol issue it is only over the last few years that it has been acknowledged as a addiction for some people and that often they need outside help and support to. His legacy will carry on and hee is missed ..❤❤❤
In addition to his beauty, David Cassidy was an excellent singer and humorous actor who gave his rather shallow role as Keith Soul. Too bad that he got no real chance with his exit from the hype and the role as a teen idol. Respect for the fact that he then went his musical way apart from the big labels, with his own songs and lyrics. But actually he deserves a lot more honor than he got - even if his fans always stood by him! RIP David Cassidy.
@@dannylee1987 Whatever was right or wrong, one thing is certain: he had an extraordinary voice with a wide range and was a real musician. I can appreciate him for that!
@@marias8458 Nothing exemplifies that more to me than the episode with Bobby Sherman. Sherman was singing the beginning of "Stephanie" when they faded into David Cassidy finishing the song. What a difference!! David's voice WAS different -- and it made all the difference in the music. Haven't heard another voice like his since.
Some of the filmd videos are totally awesome thank you whoever put the pics aye videos together i loved watching the partridge family who can forget such wonderfull music trials aye tribulations god bless cheers
I just recently heard of the Cowsills. The Partridge Family was watched as much as The Brady Bunch. We can't forget Family Affair too. I thought Shirley was fabulous in this show.
Shirley P was not the first working mom on TV. Doris Martin of The Doris Day Show and Dihanne Carroll’s character Julia come to mind right away. There must’ve been others
I remember watching it as a kid .my sisters had pics of him.on their wall .he certainly took the world by storm .their was mass riots at concerts .girls fainting .and sell outs in all the big stadiums .he was a talented singer song writter and actor .rip David .male fan .not GAY .
Angie Williams This show was my first Music, I went to lots of 70s concerts, some concerts were crazy because of very little Security. Im saying this I was afraid of fights I was only 5'6" Tall. I surprised myself how much I could drink being that small, also that I had Girlfriends being that small. Lucky me girlfriends liked to party like me. It was cool seeing those 70s girls having the hots for those Long Hair Rock Stars. Did get to see big bands Rolling Stones Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Greatfull Dead, Neil Young, The Who, The Clash, Country Singer Alan Jackson. I grew up in an IRISH Family 10 kids. Mom & Dad both had IRISH names O'GRADY - KELLY. Parents were crazy raising 10 kids. IRISH Familys are known for having lots of kids. Us IRISH are funny we belive in LEPRECGAUNS. Sorry IM AM A PROUD IRISH AMERICAN
I got a chance to see him as a warm up group. I don't even remember the headliner. I remember not liking the way he did "I think I love you." You're singing along the way you remember then he put this extra step. Other than that, he was good.
I know the way you're talking about. I didn't like it changed either. But, good news, Tenacious D (Jack Black of "School of Rock,") did an AWESOME remake of "I Think I Love You" for a movie called The Croods. Check out the song online. You'll love it!
I am not gay .but he was a good looking guy .and very talented .he took the world by storm .from playing on the tail gate of a bus 2 inter actions fame .boo ya
I really wish we had shows like this on today family oriented instead of all this reality stuff and crime shows. Today's society needs shows like this. It's a shame his childhood was so sad to bad his father was so jealous. David said in a interview all he wanted was praise from his dad and he didn't get it. David lived a lifestyle like his dad in some way but you know his dad was the only example he could go by. David had to live with the fact the fan was so distraught during one of his shows she passed away. What an awful memory he had to live with. One thing I always wondered was what kind of relationship did Shaun, Patrick and Ryan have with Jack I never found anything to let me know.Does anyone know? So anyway if David had a different childhood I believe he would have been with us longer. I think Shirley was the only adult image he had to look up to. David is sadly missed one thing I wish I could have seen him live.
Jack was a horrible father to the 4 of them. David’s mother was gone all the time, so David had no parents in his life. His grandparents took care of him.
I think it's very conceited the way they dismiss the younger children as nothing more than props. Certainly they were not the stars, but they were certainly much more than props too.
I remember an episode of The Partridge Family that focused on Chris and Tracy. They run away from home and stay with Reuben. I guess they wanted to give Brian Forster and Suzanne Crough more to do.
2020 will mark The Partridge Family's 50th anniversary. Will there be a Partridge Family reboot? Maybe,if they get a new Tracy,Keith and Reuben Kincaid.
It would never be as good as the original. This has been done before. Remember "In Search Of The Partridge Family?" It was a huge flop. Only one episode was shown, and that was it. The original Partridge Family was the best. It just wouldn't be the same without the original actors.
Once innocence is gone it can never be regained. It was a much more innocent time back then. Unfortunately, the world is a much darker place now. At least we still have the memories.
The truth isn't insensitive when it's the truth. What Susan Dey did was life threatening, plain stupid, and symptomatic of a mental illness. I'm glad that she was able to turn it around. So very many anorexics aren't able to.
@@danielfronc4304 I can’t believe my comment went completely over your head. Of course “the truth is not insensitive”. I meant the fact that he laughed about it was insensitive. Any fool would’ve understood what I meant - except one, evidently. You're a dummy.
I'm not sure how they could have done that. He wanted to do rock. He was into Led Zeppelin etc. That wouldn't have fitted the soft & slushy American family theme that they were trying to put across.
@Berry Harbour Camera angle my butt. Everyone ages at different rates due to genetics but drugs, either legal ones like alcohol and cigarettes (both of which poison the whole body), and illegal ones just age the hell out of your body. - Dr. Dan
See I was never really dumb, about being tortured worse than my separated people never arriving together at a successful place with its waves of justice automatic as love.
David Cassidy was a fool for trying to be a rock star. Who on earth would take him for a rock star. You have to know your strengths and limitations. His father was an alcoholic and David must have known he could be one too. Too many people don’t appreciate their successes and are blind to their limitations. You can’t be something just because you wish for it.
Seems like a lot of people all over the world took him for a rock star ! I was a teenager in the 1970s and David cassidy was bigger than the Beatles and Elvis combined And no one more popular since !!! ....✌
Well Gerald his dad had bi-polar disorder yes David drank but he had to take care of his mom by himself. His mom had a lot of problems with her memory the fact you don’t call him a rock stars is kinda stupid because he sold out so many stadiums in hours. I like Elvis but David was one a kind. Tell me something Gerald did you have a dad? David didn’t really because he was so jealous of his son which is very stupid. You think can what you want of him I think he brought a lot to the 70’s the best music was the 70’s best decade for music in my opinion it’s just sad that he drank himself into a early grave. He was lonely so very sad.
David Cassidy was neither a fool nor did he want to be something he was not. The opposite is true, he wasn't Keith Partrigde! And didn't want to be a teen idol and make money for the music industry. So he got out of this hype and had the right to do so! Then he moved away from the big labels that locked doors for him after he got out. He turned to small labels and created his own songs. He had a fascinating voice, played guitar, piano and drums - he was a real musician! These are the facts.
Danny Lee, According to the video he wanted more than the bubble gum music he was doing. I think he should have been satisfied with his enormous success at that time.
