Yes! I’ve learned the difference between the groups now. This group is beyond respectful to both Japan and Korea and I love how fans like you differentiate and respect them on both sides. There are no groups (that I can tell) that keep separate discographys anymore but you’re right it’s because there is no longer that gap between the idol artistry between the cultures now but TVXQ / DBSK definitely created the bridge for that. Them and BoA apparently from what I’ve read 😊 so their accomplishments are well deserved.
Really like your reaction 😊 enjoyed every minute of this video, can’t believe you reacted to heart mind and soul 😌 These are some of my recommendations if you’d like to check them out: crimson saga, duet, she, rise as one, human, epitaph, hot sauce, aitakute, maximum, hello, b.u.t, running on empty, ocean, sweat, heaven’s day, tarantallegra, utsuroi , chocolate, clap,, scream, with love live from 2015 with tour, timeless, six in the morning Also Yunho is a big fan of MJ and did a cover for smooth criminal
Hi Liv! Thanks for the video again. Like I said before, it's really so nice to revisit some of these songs so thanks for doing this. Re your comment about R&B vs Kpop during Heart, Mind and Soul, you have valid points in commenting about the musical choices of the different generations in Kpop but I think for TVXQ, it's crucial to separate their Korean and Japanese discographies because their musical styles are quite different in these two markets. Heart, Mind and Soul, and many of the songs you reacted to from the Tokyo Dome concert, they are very much JPop and the way they operated in Japan, it was almost as if they debuted all over again because the Japanese market in those days weren't as welcoming to non-Japanese acts. They were huge in Korea but when they started out in Japan, it's like they did the whole newbie thing all over again. If you separate their releases in Japanese and Korean, you will see quite a bit of difference in approaches. Personally I feel the Japanese music scene showcases a more diverse range of music while the Koreans often place attention on more dance/rap music and also the typical ballads, and I feel you see that quite clearly in the way they arrange TVXQ music and song choice. And probably they did well in both markets because they are just that good and versatile vocally.
K-pop and Jpop are definitely different and this group has been very distinctive about letting me (or any new fan) know that. It kept saying this group was different and something else but I’m truly discovering the hard work and effort they put in for not just K-pop but J-pop too. They showed respect for both cultures so shouts out to BigEast and Cassies.
There are so many fun things about 9095. Some other people said in the comments already that Jaejoong composed it (he's a genius, really!) He originaly made the demo in Korean, but he did not write the Japanese lyrics. I forget who wrote it without a quick wiki search, but I'm so thankful for the lyrics change in Japanese. It's 100x more mysterious and poetic, no offense to Jaejoong's break-up demo 😅. If you notice, the lyrics in the first verse goes, "Wait for me in the rocking elm chair. Dont open your eyes until I count to seven." They then proceed to counting in French in the chorus, but throughout the whole song, seven is never mentioned. They stope counting at six, & the final chorus line is something along the lines of "bones or time turning back to 9095." This leaves me with such a haunting feeling. Jaejoong also says at the end in Korean, "Someone like you, cannot understand me." He reverses this in the song, so fans had to play detectives to figure it out at the time. The album this song was released in is called The Secret Code. The hidden track in this album is 9096, which is a continuation of 9095. There were many fun codes related to this album promotion. Here's a snippet of the demo version Jaejoong originally made in Korean: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hgxibQi78Ww.htmlsi=Cea1KRJiFuO6Q-N9
Stand by U was the last song that they sang live together as OT5... so it's kinda heartbreaking to even hear the intro of this song.. and the harmonization at the end, makes JaeJoong cried in one of his solo concert after the split😢😢😢😢😢
Their voices complement each other perfectly. For part 4, it is mandatory to include Balloons! And as a recommendation - Unforgettable; Love Is All I Need; I'll Be There: Farewell; Drive /2nd Asia Tour/; Hi Ya Ya MV.
Summer dream. Other live version of this song, even in the MV, usually had Junsu silly dance for closing😂 It's hillarious. I love all their Japanese songs as Tohoshinki (THSK). They were JPop artists not coming as Kpop artist to Japan like nowadays. They were already big in Korea as DBSK/TVXQ but they came to start in Japan as nobody. They started from the bottom like a store stairs, mall basements with 50 people in audience until reach the top and had dome tour concerts all over Japan, ending at Tokyo Dome. They got used to sing live for 3 hrs concert in Japan, raised their quality as singers. Their success opened the possibility of next generations korean groups to enter japan market. Triangle. God. I almost forgot this. But SM usually uses senior artist to help their newbie. Boa helped TVXQ, TVXQ helped Suju, as such. Survivor We joked the dance as cockroach dance coz it was like they tried to kill coackroach with their steps wkwkwk Asuwakurukara Junsu's signature part here at closing. He cried when singing it at his ballad concert in Japan. He lost it in the middle, then japanese audience helped singing it till he could be able to finish it. I could hear crying from the audience. Heart Mind and Soul I think this is their first Japanese full album. They did Japan tour in small hall of like 100-500 audience. Their 2nd Japan tour ended at Budokan, they cried when singing the song Proud because of their achievement so far. Well they didnt know yet that in 2 yrs they would reach Tokyo dome. As they grew as Jpop artist I heard that some jap artist tried to avoid to release album at the same time with THSK. Colours, Melody and Harmony Written by Yoochun and Jaejoong. I think it was used as 50th aniv of Hello Kitty, if I was not mistaken. Those two are best friends, self-taught piano players, singer song writers. Micky yoochun grew up in US before debut with TVXQ so he wrote his own rap in English. Forever love I love this song esp Junsu-Yoochun duet part in 2nd verse, and Junsu-Jaejong part ending it. You should check Wasurenaide at Todome, written by Jaejong. So beautiful ballad. Fallen leaves Written by Junsu, sung at JYJ Todome concert right after their split. It actually pictures their situation that after all they can start again after all leafs are falling. You should check JYJ nameless song, yoochun rap express their rage at how they were treated. Kiss the baby sky I think yoochun wrote it. I remember the members complained that the song notes were too high but yc didnt care hehehe Try my love They were invited to be on the same stage with a legendary japanese group Dont say goodbye I'm heartbroken because the reality was that it was a goodbye. I think audience already knew it so they sang it too. 9095 I think jaejoong wrote this one Thanks for walking me down on the memory lane. They held 2 guinnes record, cant remember what they were. I think one of them was having fanbase in 75 countries. At that time when internet was not easy like now. Getting their videos was thru fanbases. Happy time gathering with fellow cassies in old days.
I wish I was around for this. Definitely missed a legendary era but getting caught up on it now and sharing the nostalgia from Cassies that decide to watch my reactions and making those connections is something special in its own right.
thank you for your reactions! i enjoy them. it’s interesting that you said that you have a background in music. did you sing professionally or take vocal lessons? i’d say that tvxq set the standard high even for 2nd gen groups at the time. to me they’re more like artists than idols. there are a lot of idols nowadays that can sing well, too, but they don’t have the expressiveness and ad-libs that tvxq can do. to me they really embody the lyrics of the music rather than just sounding pleasant. 9095 was actually a song composed by jaejoong, and 9095 was tvxq's artist ID on naver's music site at the time. you recognized the music in tri-angle bc they sampled mozart’s symphony #40, a piece of music that is used in a lot of media. and you’re right that they were inspired by final fantasy lol for some more songs there’s more emotional ones like hey! girl, always there, thanks to, i believe, whatever they say, i'll be there, don’t forget (wasurenaide), doushite (why did i fall in love?), taxi, and eternal. and then more upbeat ones like crazy love, no!, trick, last angel, ride on, rainbow, zion, and o jung ban hap
My background is more of a lyricist than a singer. I essentially was a female rapper and I performed a lot in my state as well as border states but it didn’t take off. As such being in that industry gave me the opportunity to surround myself with vocal coaches and singers and I would take notes from that but singing has never been my true strength in my opinion even after being told that all I had to do was work on it and take it seriously if I had focused on it maybe it could’ve went somewhere but it was so competitive with singers in my state, everyone chose to support their favorites, a lot of dragging each other down, I just couldn’t get with that. I don’t like negativity and there were so many singers already flourishing honestly felt I had no chance at the time so I focused on rapping which is why I get a bit excited with Yunho’s raps 😂. I believe with rap I could’ve went pretty far but I got so burnt out from it. Then not longer after “retiring” I had kids so I kind of let it go in all honesty I sometimes do cover raps to my favorite K-pop songs now but haven’t had the confidence yet to post them and not sure if my subs would appreciate that kind of content because this is an industry I’ve actually only really paid true attention to in the last year. I haven’t performed professionally myself since 2016. I miss it at times but my new passion is what you see now 😊. TVXQ! Has set an unprecedented standard. They always exceed my expectations. 2nd gen groups seem to be my favorites. I like to refer to them as artists as well but was very well corrected on the term and to state idols but I feel like that corners them and for this group in particular to only call them idols is a insult to everything they’ve accomplished. Just my opinion 😊
2hrs of DBSK 😍 thank you! Can't wait for the next part 😁 You really should watch the full Tokyo Dome concert, it was one of my favorites. They were the 1st korean group that held a concert there but it was also their last concert together 🥺
FINALLY! I've been waiting to part 3 😆 8:30 congrats dear, you are absolutely a cassie now 👏 one of cassie syndromes is we can recognize whose voice is singing without looking. lol i'm so proud of you!
I'm glad for this journey to the past. I'm glad you were able to see and feel how great they were as a group in their prime time. As always, I will edit this a few times to comment on your comments too (: now let's begin! Edit: You saw that the lightsticks were a different color for Stand by U right? And did you catch Junsu's (sweet) smile at the beginning of the video? Well, back in the day the color for TVXQ was red (it still is), and fans had lightsticks which only had one single color, but all fans made a peoject for that particular song, so when it started they manually turned off their red lightsticks and manually turned on a blue one, just for that one song... everybody, at the same time, manually. That's why Junsu looks so thankful, and Jaejoong does say thank you once he started singing Edit2: Yes, they were very RnB in their ballads, Koreans and Japanese, but Jpop is also different so Tohoshinki was a completely different group from TVXQ Edit3: Please make a JYJ special and include the clip they recorded in Chile for Get Out (Remix), it was a party! You are going to enjoy it😊 Edit4: It's been YEARS since I last listened many of these songs, and I'm watching the KTBS part of the video now and all the memories from that time came back to my mind. The day the news of Tohoshinki closing their tour at Tokyo Dome, how worried we were because Junsu had a leg injury and was performing on a weelchair for some of the cities, and we didn't know if he was going to be able to perform like the others at Tokyo Dome, which was such a big dream because their were the first Korean bg to perform there... and then everything just went to hell lol the split was hard, but I guess it was meant to happen despite that promise the song held. Edit5: Yeah... Don't say goodbye, but they did🥲 Edit6: Lmao at the boys singing Try my love or Choosey lover WHEN THEY WERE BARELY LIKE 18 TO 20 😐😭😂
JPop is definitely different. DBSK worked their tails off they absolutely deserved this. “Don’t Say Goodbye but they did” that stung but so true. Try my love and Choosey lover I didn’t realize they were so young at that moment but it totally makes sense! 😊🤣
I don't think there's ever a live performance for "Break Out", it was released either after or around the same time when the three members filed the lawsuit to end the contract with SM, and even the music video was put together without a single shot of the two members in the same frame.
Gosh I'm enjoying your OT5 reactions so much ❤ thank you so much! Such a blast from the past. I have such fond memories because of their music and their discography is so insane sometimes I forget how good so many of their songs are. I can't wait for part 4! And more of their solo stuff!
Again, thank you so much for reacting to TVXQ! OT 5! I just love all the songs you’re picking, its so much fun seeing these again! If you need a break from the ballads, Are you a good girl? Is an upbeat song- i’m so looking forward to part four!
Their Japanese ballads are killer. You can listen to these songs with eyes closed. Most of the new songs are interesting more like MV. "Colors melody and harmony" was written by Jaejoong and Yoochun. The latter lived and studied in the USA, so he raps in English.
I really enjoy your reactions! Your commentary on some of the ballads are awesome. I gotta agree with you on Triangle. Them hair do be built different and the song just effortlessly blend. Look forward to your next one, thank you!
4:47 The video played in the background is a mini drama that filmed by the members. It's called Vacation. They are playing themself in the drama. Holding Back the Tears is one of the ost of the drama. Your tears during Fallen Leaves is quite understandible. My first reaction to that song was the same as well. It's a really pretty song written and composed by Junsu.
Thanks for the marathon. It was a fun time. The lyrics to "stand by u" always make me feel like this is how I feel about dbsk. 😢 It's ironic that this is the last song they sang as five. "Even now, I am right here And I still believe that we will see each other again This feeling won’t change You’re the only one I’m thinking of Even if I know that the days When you were by my side making my world shine Won’t come back again I never ever want to forget that my heart has chosen to love you" "Darkness eyes" has been like the melody of my alarm clock for many years. I like this song very much. Everything about her is wonderful. There were many “legends” about 9095, so to speak. Something like such a mysterious song and no one still knows what this song is about. There are some theories though. It seems (I could be wrong. It was a long time ago) that Jaejoong once said that this song was the key to his heart or something. In short, 9095 is the identifier/address of the DBSK page on Naver music (vibe). It's still 9095 for them. I fell in love with this track immediately when I first heard it. Btw, I could never call them a dance group. Although many fans, of course, say that this group was good at everything. But still, for me their dancing was not so good and sometimes strange. Ahah Although duet is a different matter. I hope that you will still listen to songs like: farewell ah and all in vain. The first incredibly beautiful song. And this is the song that fans were able to hear only many years after the split (Thanks to a miracle). She's truly beautiful. And thank you again for the pleasant time that I was able to spend here with my favorite group and a very cute reactionary. I've never listened to kpop and I still don't listen to any of it. DBSK were the only ones who won my heart and have remained there for almost 15 years. I hope you will continue to get acquainted with their other songs beyond the reactions. Love and peace to u~
Ooohh you coming through with the history! I love it. I see this group has a very special place in your heart. That’s awesome to know. Thanks for watching and providing so much. I hope this group still brings you joy even for the next 10 years. I’ll be here 🤣
"Holding back the tears" is "Vacation" OST. Its author is Yoochun. The drama itself consists of 4 episodes, each starring each of them, with Max and Junsu together in episode two.Yoochun composed and wrote "Kiss The Baby Sky". "9095" is composed by Jaejoong.
Just want to let you know Jaejoong's debut 20th anniversary album will be release in late June,Junsu will release a new single on June 12th as well, both of them will perform on weverse concert this year but on different day.
