When I was a young kid I loved to watch the weather channel but my most favorite thing was watching the local 8s but just hearing the songs I loved from so long gave me a bunch of nostalgia
Track 1 is my absolute FAVORITE. It’s the very first local on the 8s song I ever heard, back in 2014, and it’s basically what began me loving weather related stuff.
That first song will always hold special memories to me. I was 13 and moving cross country with my family. Dad would always put the weather channel on in the hotel before we left in the mornings. Still gives me that excitement of a new beginning.
I used to be OBSESSED with the weather when I was 8 or 9. Although I am not much into weather, it still feels good to check in on the old Local on the 8s videos.
I only had a few memories of twc i watched before 2013, but when i first started mass watching and first heard those songs, it hit me. With every listen of these local on the 8s songs, it rapidly grew on me. Now, 10 years later, those songs were my absulute favorites of the local on the 8s, and i miss them so much. I stopped mass watching twc in 2020, and those were my favorite parts of my childhood channel that will be in my forever heart. Thank you so much for these wonderful childhood tracks.
i have a VERY heavy nostalgia with these songs. i remember watching the weather channel (one of my favorite channels for some reason lol) as a kid watching the coverage of blizzards and waiting to see if school was cancelled while i played GBA😊 and when big hurricanes hit just watching the coverage
Hearing this makes me wonder if I could have been a weather man. Loved the weather channel as a kid and even now. When hurricanes would develop, I would always follow any developments I could lol. It was great. I even remember a buddy of mine and I were outside one time during the heavy wind and rain of a hurricane and decided to make a fake weather report video with our flip phones😂 good times
These bring back many memories I used to watch Would You Survive series and at the end/ middle this would play i stopped what i was doing and looked at this when this played i believe i watched the weather Channel from 2013 until 2015 if nothing was on cartoon network or nickelodeon I would be playing with my toys and stop to look at this when this came on
i remember when i used to stay over at my grandmas to do homeschooling i would always keep this channel on. twc has always been my favorite channel fr. this brings back so many memories
Welp, TWC got new production music recently. So most of these tracks, except the 2013 Alert Theme have finally been retired. After almost a decade of service, it's over. 🫡
Complete nostalgia. I remember hearing these tracks all the time as a kid, I’m 18 and I hadn’t heard these since I was 13 or something. Alert is such a banger…who knew the Weather Channel would have the best music 😂
I used to hide in the basement and watch local on the 8s to wait for the radar when storms came through. I always loved the music. I’d fall asleep to it. It brings me so much nostalgia. Thank you for this.
For some reason, about a few months ago, I started watching the weather channel while going to sleep. I guess something about the music is what made me interested in anything weather related.
I guess we both have in common. I went to camp grounds when I was little and was watching nothing in the camper, but The Weather Channel was nothing but it expect Cartoon Network but also The Weather Channel
CLOUDS MAY COME WAS THE GAS TRACK OF MY YOUTH im 20 now and remember watching the weather with my grandma on comcast on the weekends and shed laugh at my goofy ass boogying to this heat
My mom would take me to her workplace (a doctor's office) in the break room on certain days when there wasn't any school because I was too young to be by myself. I would sit in the break room, huddled underneath the layers of PPE coats the lab nurses wear because it was so cold in the building. Bored, I'd watch the Weather Channel on loop for hours and hours until I finally managed to sleep. I hated being in that cold room years ago because there was nothing to do other than shiver and watch old tv channels, yet I weirdly crave those moments nowadays now that I'm 19, turning 20 in a few months. Just listening to these tunes brings tears to my eyes.
When I was 12, I remember always watching TWC when I was on vacation in Nebraska. Always got that Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Tornado Watch alerts. Man I miss those times…
#4 And #2 Reminds me of when there were dense fog and freezing fog advisories in my area. I would watch the weather channel while it was pouring rain and drinking hot chocolate with my dogs. Best times.
That storm alert theme was the last thing we heard before losing power for hurricane Ivan in 2004 my senior year of college.. was a mess but a crazy time
Obsessed with finding the guitar band that played Song #7 (6:25). TWC's clip is from the tail end of that band's performance. Shazam and Siri can't name it. I recall a music video depicting coed guitar players in the desert. Great song! Would love to know the name & title, if anyone can help - thanks!
Brilliant reminds me of great vacation days in Orlando, getting ready in the hotel with the tv on in the background. Thank you. Great memories to a better life and world.
My favorite are the 1st 2, "Tomorrow's Sunrise" & "Clouds May Come." But I have to agree with you on #11. It is so upbeat to where it would make you wanna do a happy dance along with that chant in that tune. OOOO-AAAA-OOOO
What I remembered the most about TWC's Local Forecast updates was the voiceover in them: "Coming up: a look at your local radar. But first, the current local conditions."... which shows the current temperature at the moment and seeing if the skies were sunny, partly cloudy, mostly cloudy, snowing, raining, windy. Then shows the latest observations. Which shows all parts of the area we live in and not just one part. Temperatures there and how the weather looks in those areas. "Our regional conditions."... which shows what the current temperatures of all parts of the state we live in. "Your local 36-hour forecast from the National Weather Service."... which shows the weather outlook for today, tonight and tomorrow. "The extended forecast."... which shows the forecast over the next 3 days. "Special Regional Information."... which shows the Almanac. The exact times of the sunrise and sunsets for today and tomorrow on the top part of the screen and on the bottom part of the screen shows the moon on a weekly basis. One week is the Last Moon, next week is the New Moon, next week is the First Moon and then the next is the Full Moon. "The forecast for cities nationwide."... which is the Travel Forecast. All over the country. The day's high and low temperatures in the 50 states. "The Regional Forecast."... which goes back to the map that showed the regional conditions, here is showing what the whole forecast for today looks like. And it ends with your Radar look. "Your local radar, showing any precipitation and its movement during the past 90 minutes. In intention of these indicated by the color code at the top of the screen."
I like all of them but song 7 is my favorite it gives me hope especially with all the craziness in 2020 and the fact that it’s coming to an end makes it even better
The storm alert theme. I always remember hearing it and kid me was going WHAT IS THAT MELODY and it started my descent into symphonic edm that continues today
OMG TY! I MISS WHEN LOCAL ON THE EIGHTS HAPPENED EVERY 10 MINUTES. THIS VIDEO GIVES ME CHILDHOOD NOSTALGIA, I STARTED WATCHING THE TWC WHEN I WAS 8 (2012) AND I'M STILL WATCHING IT
