The Citizen of the Year was awarded to Julie Lowe. She was chosen in recognition of her selfless contributions to our community as both a firefighter and disability support worker.
An on-call firefighter for the past 17 years and now Deputy Captain of the Kingscliff Fire Station, Julie is held with utmost regard by her colleagues, as a leader and problem solver who is exceptionally courageous, compassionate and driven in her duty.
When she is not fighting fires, she runs her own disability support service in Kingscliff, where she dedicates almost all of her spare time to providing meaningful and innovative support for people in their daily lives.
This support includes interstate creative excursions, professional and personal skills development, health and fitness assistance, work experience support, photography and arts classes, music and dance workshops and even horse riding sessions.
Julie's charity, compassion and conviction to protect and improve the lives of those around her affirm her irreplaceable value in both the local Kingscliff and broader Tweed community.
