One strumming hand. Five fingers. So many possibilities for rasgueos, right? Here, in this tutorial, I will present to you 12 rasgueos that I think you should be familiar with. In fact, if these were the only rasgueos you ever learned, you would be more than well-equipped to tackle any palo, and any compás, like a pro!
Now a quick note: you might notice that the three-fingered rasgueo (a, m, i) is not included in this index, well…don’t worry, nor fret (pun intended); I cover that very common rasgueo briefly while reviewing rasgueado #1 😉.
You may also notice that I use the palo of Verdiales quite a bit to demonstrate the rasgueado patterns; this is because Verdiales tends to be a good for demonstrating the uniqueness of each rasgueado pattern. Enjoy!

or you can always do a-m-i regardless of context and completely butcher the compas, as I do.

Nice video! 😃 (-but why the upwards arrow for down strokes and vice versa?)

Great question; it does come up often. The arrows point the seemingly opposite ways because that’s the traditional way they are written in guitar music (not 100% sure why though). You’ll want to envision the “upward” arrows on the screen (or in sheet music) as going away from you, and the “downward” pointing ones as inward movements. Thanks again for the question. I hope that my answer makes sense. 🎸

@@martinransborg you pretend the arrows are where your fingers strike the strings , and it makes much more sense.
