I developed what I describe as a self-aware chuunibyou in middle school due to bullying. For those that don’t know what that is, think of it like a story with yourself as a hero that runs parallel to your life (my powers, coincidentally, were fire-related). And sometimes you act it out in ways people around you can’t see. That was around 2007-2008. I broke out of it, but never forgot that time in my life. Looking back, perhaps I was just running away from my equivalent of Blurryface. I told myself if it were up to me I wouldn’t let anyone else get to the point they had to do that. A decade later, I was sitting in a hotel room listening to this song. And in that moment I heard “I created this world to feel some control, destroy it if I want,” I realized that not only was I not alone, not only were there far more people carrying that same feeling than I could’ve ever realized, that it wasn’t just a silly anime trope that sounded like my own experience, but that these stories we create to feel some control really do have meaning on a whole other level than I’d already known. I’d never really left it, just didn’t actively let it be a thing, but Trench was the moment I truly accepted that part of me all over again, and in learning how to work with it and how my head works best, I also defeated my equivalent of Blurryface. Now, I’ve never felt more complete. Seeing Clancy open his eyes at the end of Paladin Strait… I think maybe he’s come to the same conclusion.

There are some live videos of this from the Bandito tour that are so incredible! They did this from the B Stage with a large light canopy. And when the song reaches the crescendo, you get to see Tyler doing one of his goofy dances 😼 It’s a fantastic song!! And I love that Tyler incorporated the sample into Overcompensate. One of my biggest regrets is that i didnt know who tøp were when Trench came out. Its a masterpiece of an album.

This song just gives me all over chills. Idk what it is ….but it’s impossible for me not to stop everything and just vibe. When he performed this on the trench tour…he was on B stage with dripping lights all around him while he just danced with abandon.

This was the hardest song for Tristan to write on Trench... it turned out beautifully 😊 ||-// 💛💛💛

Bandito live was an experience OMG!!

People talk about Trees live being the best part of the concerts. Let me tell you that Bandito was the best part of the bandito tour. You should find some live videos of this song and you'll see why I call it a godly experience. Nothing compares. Same with message man live from the icy tour.
