Wait....goner is the last song on blurryface and heavydirtysoul is the first song on blurryface. At the end of this,you can hear the beginning of heavydirtysoul. Does that mean blurryface is a endless circle?

God this version The accordion makes it sound so much more like a final goodbye rather than a cry for help. The little noises and scenes were Tyler is shouting and screaming make for such a sad aesthetic and then to have the final scene be the skeleton mask and the sound of Blurryface screaming from heavydirtysoul flip it all on its head Amazing

gen·u·ine yep, it's actually a sound effect from some audio program but if you type in blurry face scream, it'll come up in RU-vid as a two minute clip

I'm a new fan, so naturally I watched all the trench videos first and thought nico/blurryface was a bad dude but discovering their old stuff and tidbits like that just make me flat out scared of blurryface 😢 Another comment said that this version of goner is tyler getting trapped by blurryface (leading to heavydirtysoul) and the album version is him facing blurryface again and winning. When he says "you" at the end and it's quiet after the buildup which supposedly has a blurryface scream too. Is that in any way confirmed or just speculated?

gen·u·ine idk how you'd really confirm it but all across the blurry face album, the same low voice is used to represent him like in Stressed Out and Fairly Local. Goner is widely thought to be about Tyler over coming his blurry face

@@jackgoonzalez4740 it is from No Phun Intended and Tyler decided to loop it back round bc they had the same goner song in the album. So they referenced it I guess to show that he’s still alive. He wrote this song when he was 17 and by the rope swinging sounds, my guess is that he was planning to hang himself. However he chose to stay alive and help the clique overcome dema. And I thank him and Josh for that

To think that blurryface existed in 2007 is crazy. Tyler was only 17 when he wrote songs like goner or trees. In this he's 24, which now he's 30. And the heavydirtysoul sound plays at the end, which means they've most likely been planning the blurryface album music and story since 2012 or even earlier, which remind you, vessel still hasn't come out back then, and RAB and josh were only a year old. That means from the time im writing this, the day the nico and the niners music video came out, they probably have the whole Clancy and dema thing planned out and are working on the next album.

FriendlyNeighborhoodLoser Agree with you 100%. They probably have several albums in the can and I bet the dema tale is just a part of something larger. They could continue with it or take a break from it and release something from out of left field completely unrelated (which will take us all forever to realize as we try to decrypt every single word. That will be pretty funny) while leaving dema still simmering in the back. It is so exciting to be a part of this creativity and genius.

Okay I have a theory for this song and this may take a while to explain so prepare to read. The way I see it, there are two versions of this song. One where Blurryface loses, and one where he wins. The version in which Blurryface is defeated is the one released on the Blurryface album. Throughout the whole album, Tyler has been fighting his inner demon and the last song, "Goner", on the album is the final battle. If you listen closely with a pair of headphones, you can hear this low, distorted, and ominous noise almost throughout the entire song. This noise is heard most prominently at the quiet part when Tyler sings "Don't let me be gone", maybe as like a symbol for Blurry mocking him. When Tyler shouts that same sentence, you can hear a low underlying noise which could be when Tyler attacks Blurryface. After that, the song becomes really loud compared to the rest of it because Tyler and Blurryface are practically at war. On the final word when Tyler says "You", the song becomes quiet, and there's no low distorted sounds to be heard, symbolizing Blurry's defeat. Now this version here on RU-vid is quite the opposite. This is an alternate ending in which Blurryface potentially wins the fight. Now in this version, there is no loud battle between the two. Tyler just gives up without taking the chance to fight. Throughout the entire song you can hear that menacing Blurryface noise and an eerie creaking noise. Now some may argue that this is an accordion crackling, but there's no denying that it also could be the sound of a noose swinging back and forth with a body in it. This could resemble Blurry winning the battle by leaving Tyler to commit suicide. And probably the most chilling part of this is the very last part of the song. The disturbing and unsettling Blurryface shriek is louder than ever before, signifying his reign. I know that was a lot to read, but I hope at least a few people took time to read this. When I was creating this theory in my head, I was legit getting chills from the deepness of the lyrics. That has never happened before. Twenty one pilots are truly the masters in songwriting

1:20 his face here, it really impacts me, and I relate a lot to that feeling and that expression he makes. It’s that wince you make, when you’re overwhelmed by those soul crushing feelings and frightening emotions inside and your mind is screaming but you simply keep it inside and try to shove it down and ignore it. It’s that face you make when you’re writhing and falling apart inside and no one else around you can see what’s really happening in your head.

In the cuts where hes screaming, its like hes screaming at himself cause he keeps changing position and facing the other way each time like hes shouting at another person, but its really just him. I think this kinda shows what hes going through at the time, "i have two faces" - Goner, and also in a lot of songs from self titled especially he adresses himself as another person like in Trapdoor -"everyone gather around for a show, as we watch this man dissapear as we know". The whole concept of blurryface is revolved around this aswell. Blurryface is all his demons and insecurities but in the form of tyler. Like he has this other side inside his head telling him to give up. This represents the battle against blurryface going on in his own mind. "Waging my wars behind my face and above my throat". I just thought of something. Might be a bit of a stretch, but hear me out. This song was made three years ago, right? I think maybe Tyler and Josh intended it to be on Vessel, but for whatever reason didn't. It's hard to say what kind of place Tyler was in when he wrote it. But for whatever reason they decided to put this on blurryface, as the ending, which maybe means the meaning might've changed. I know it's been speculated that since this is the last song on the album that it means blurryface wins, but I'm starting to think it's the opposite. What if this time, Goner is in Blurryface's point of view meaning that he (or it, whatever you want to call it) has been defeated after all? "I wanna be known by you." Blurryface is supposed to represent the dark side of us and our inner demons, right? It would make sense that it would want to be acknowledged if we're actively ignoring it or trying to get rid of it. I know the context of this particular video is the opposite - it's supposed to be someone giving up completely, hence the noose rocking in the background. But I'm talking about the song that's going to be on the album, the full thing that we're going to hear. TØP have always had dark lyrics, but they also have very hopeful lyrics. These are the same guys that told us to stay alive. So why put a song with a completely hopeless tone as the ending? Unless it's a concept album and it ties in with a story, but even then, why end it like that? I just think there's going to be so much more to this on the surface. Or maybe I'm completely overthinking it and it's just meant to be taken literally, idk. I just need the new album before I lose my mind with too many theories haha.

stolenbaby2008 First, I really enjoy where you went with this, and second I noticed that in the description it mentions that it is a song that they were working on. They did it in one night, hence "we did this last night" so what I'm thinking is maybe Tyler was still working on it, maybe it was just a small side project but their mention of we did this last night is what gets to me and how it is on Blurryface and not Vessel considering Vessel came out a year and a month after this was put up. Maybe they edited/added things to it for the album is what I first thought and then I saw that it was the 2012 version, which seeing the date of this seems to be this version. Which would also mean that there are different versions of this song. Twenty One Pilots is just so amazing is all.

I agree. I don't think they would leave the song like this. This song (personally) doesn't uplift me. Which a lot of their songs do. Goner makes me feel heavy. It's such a beautiful song and I think that we cannot fully interpret it until we've heard all of blurryface.

omg YAS i agree two thousand percent!!! and i also agree that since the description reads "it's a new song we're working on" rather than "this is a new song we wrote", like it's not in past tense but instead present, then that probably hopefully means Tyler wrote some more lyrics to this song and maybe once we hear the other verses then we can have some more clarification as to what this song really means. but i agree 100% that it was not just an accident that they put this at the end of the album since it seems to be they enjoy telling a story throughout their albums. i definitely like to believe this is from the demon's point of view - bless your little soul for this hopeful comment

listening to this today, december 20th 2018 and i can tell you that this never not makes me cry. it’s an emotional video and will always have a really important place in my heart, especially the end- i can’t get over it. the cycle of blurryface is so eerie and almost frightening, i cant get enough of how amazing and thought out it was. this band is forever with me ||-//

For anyone wondering why the end of this song is the beginning of Heavydirtysoul, it's because that distorted scream you hear is actually Blurryface. In this song, Tyler is giving up and letting Blurryface win, which is why you hear a noose throughout the song. He's given up. And in the end, Blurryface wins. But then it actually continues to Heavydirtysoul, the first song on the BF album. In this song, it picks up with where it left off. Blurryface is very loud, Tyler is praying for help, for Someone to save his soul. His fear of death inspires him to keep fighting Blurryface. Then it continues throughout the entire album, like a story about him fighting against his Blurryface. And in the end, the last song in the album, it's the new version of this song. He's determined to fight Blurryface once again, and it's evident he's much stronger than he was. During the buildup part of the song, you can hear a faint BF scream, it gets louder and louder, until Tyler screams "DONT LET ME BE--!!!" and the battle begins. Very loud banging, Blurryface is screaming again, but now Tyler literally screams back. And in the end... Tyler screams "I WANNA BE KNOWN BY... You." And as soon as he says "You," Blurryface stops. The banging stops. It goes silent because Tyler won. He finally beat Blurryface, and that's the end of the entire album.

I find it interesting how people interpret the creaking of the accordion as a noose because I've always thought of it as breathing. To me it feels like a representation of the silent struggle to keep breathing. Also with the lyrics "somebody catch my breath" it's a nod to breath as well. It shows the struggle to be heard that's conveyed in the lyrics and the effort it takes to make a sound. It's a deeper thought than just a noose adding creepiness. It feels like it has a meaning to me.

I drove on this street once, when I was in Columbus for a wedding. This video really does describe intrusive thoughts monsterly well. The end of this song is Blurryface screaming, meaning that he has won and Tyler lost (and yes, those are noose noises because he's 'given up'), but at the same time, the "scream" leads into the first track on the album, HeavyDirtySoul. In this track, the "screams" are a lot louder, and Tyler is praying for someone to help, or "save" him, but at the same time, the fear of death urges him to keep fighting. Finally, Goner comes around, the last track. In the "don't let me be gone"s, the Blurryface scream is heard getting louder and louder until the climax is reached. Yet this time, Tyler screams back, saying "Don't let me be". All the drums and the loud music represent the battle he and Tyler are having, and eventually, it all goes quiet with the final "you", meaning that he's defeated Blurryface. That's how the album closes.

This song was released in 2012. 3 years before Blurryface the end leads into the next release which is Blurryface Tyler makes his way through Blurryface and does not prevail on his mission to take back control of his mind. He then goes back to the drawing board and takes a different route. At the start of the jumpsuit music video; there is a burner out car. Which is obviously the care from heavy dirty soul. That’s how Blurryface connects to trench.

oh my god. The snow affects me so much, because during my childhood i was dealing with being gay and trying to figure out if it was wrong. I would struggle all day and all night and remember the most peace i experienced was in the silent winter nights with the beautiful snow coating the streets, even a place as suburban as where i was, could be beautiful. The "creepy" sound people keep talking about sound horrifically close to the sound of a person who just hung themself and their body is slowly swinging. no matter how much i change over the years and how many other bands i become invested in, i continually find myself coming back to twenty one pilots. they’ve had an enormous impact on my life over the years and i truly don’t know how i would have coped without them. i’m in a much better place now than i was when i first started listening to them and yet these songs still hit me like i’m hearing them for the first time.

You know what I really like about this? The fact that Tyler stood out in the freezing cold to make this video. He isn't even wearing a winter jacket or gloves. There's also the fact that he shot it in winter of all seasons. Usually winter is a concidered lifeless, dull and a lonely season. Do you see how the video had minimal colors? How Tyler's face is so bleak like the life is being sucked out of him- Oh my..I think I'm too obsessed. xD

Here's my theory on this song. The noose sounds aren't Tyler hanging himself, it's a reference to Holding On To You. "This isn't a noose this is a leash and I have news for you, you must obey me." Most of us know that lyric means to take control of your mind and not to let it take control of you. Who is Tyler trying to take over in this song? Blurryface.

I guess all of this is in fact an endless circle, just like blurryface. edit 3: I come back to this comment section every now and then, because listening to this song and reading all of the comments makes me feel less lonely. Ive been doing much better lately. I dont even know how it happened, but I dont think about dying anymore. I really want to live. I know that most of the people who read this are hopeless right now, but let me tell you something. A few months ago I was ready to commit suicide. It wasnt just thinking about death on daily basis for 3/4 years like before. I was really ready. But I decided to give myself some time. I felt like I had nothing to lose so I just waited for something to happen. I wanted to recieve some kind of message from the universe. I waited for it to tell me if I should keep going or just give up. And I dont know how it happened, but I started to have hope. I felt less and less pessimistic. I actually started enjoying simple things. I know there is a long way ahead of me, but Im proud of myself for not giving up on december last year. If anyone is reading this, give yourself some time, please. Dont risk giving up to lose a life that is so fragile and precious. We dont know what happens after death. If we have only one chance to live, let us use this time. Lets not give up. I really believe we will make it. edit 4: I didn't know if I should even write this in here. I wrote my last edit probably around October or November last year and at that time I really thought I finally was starting to feel truly happy. Well I feel that universe made fun of me. I´m doing really bad and I don't mean bad like for all these years before. The state I'm in right now is worse than ever. Before the thing that kept me away from giving up was hope. Now I don't have it anymore. My brain doesn't let me have hope. I'm all alone with myself this time. I'm extremely tired. I can't do this anymore. I don't post my edits in here that often so I think this one might be my last. I'm sorry for disappointing all of you who were happy for me and my good state at that time. Well now it's all over. I hope you're all doing okay. I wish the best to all of you. I'm just too weak for this world. Don't worry about me, okay? Whatever happens to me just had to happen. This life truly is a tragedy. The saddest movie to ever exist. A book with story that gave you hope for happy ending, but it ended up just breaking your heart.

At the end of this video, the sounds from the beginning of heavydirtysoul play. Since heavydirtysoul is the beginning of the blurryface album, the album is restarting. So the album is basically a never ending loop, just like what the album is trying to represent (depression, a loop of feeling better and then slipping into a depressive episode)

the time frame doesnt work for this. its more of a version where blurryface ends up winning in the end, whereas in the blurryface version, tyler fights him (screaming part) and the songs ends without the distorted blurryface laugh because he defeated him
