Love hearing your thoughts and interpretation of the lyrics and videos. In the video sometimes the car is being driven by a hooded figure, who is supposed to be Blurryface, a character that is introduced in the song Stressed Out. tyler said he puts black paint on his hands and neck to 'get into character' because "When I think about insecurities and my insecurities are getting the best of me, the things that I think of are kind of a feeling of suffocation and then also the things that I create with my hands." It is dangerous for Tyler to stay in the car, under Blurryface's control and seeing Josh prompts him to escape but at the end of the video he's back in the car, showing how mental health is a cycle that you have to keep battling.
Saying they like a metaphor is an understatement. They are extremely clever, imaginative and talented. The car is often used as a metaphor for life. Or the journey of mental health. This develops even more as you go through the albums. There is an entire lore. A world made up by Tyler to depict the cycle the human brain can get stuck in which ultimately leads to self destruction if you don’t break out of it. Aside from all that - very good music too. I’m in for your journey! A few years back they started an absolute mind blowing trail of clues across the internet that had the entire fan base working things out together over the space of a few years. Secret websites, codes to decipher, bits of storyline teased. Amazing.

This is the first look at Blurryface when he's driving in the front (he then develops into Nico in the next album) i think there's some debate about who he's talking to in this video, who he's asking to save his heavydirtysoul - some people think faith, but i personally think he's talking to the music - the car is falling apart as Josh is banging the drums until Tyler can eventually escape the video shows a cycle, which is a big theme in their music, at the very beginning if you pay attention it shows the car burning up, then at the end he's back in the car again when you do the next video, Jumpsuit, you'll see the car show up there as well i'm not sure if you've watched "I Am Clancy" yet, it's a review of their lore, you may want to watch that before you watch any more videos in the storyline for a brief overview of everything
