Dry heat is a lot better than humidity. And I was born in Twentynine Palms 1960 my grandfather and my dad had Bailey's barber shop right next to The Virginian. And then we left when I was 10 and I've been back and forth from Orange County back to 29 Palms I mean I still love it but the other two times when I left at that time in the late 80s there really wasn't much to do even though I love it so much and it really bums me out that forever it was Joshua Tree National Monument and that's what it is I don't know why they changed it to park it's a monument. And we were lucky enough to be able to just go in there party campfire climbing boulders and it was great fun it was like ours.
I just went through Yucca, Twentynine Palms, etc, all along Route 62 for the first time since I was a young kid. Twentynine is kind of a cool little town, we had a great time. I love living in Chandler, AZ, but I could see 29 being a nice place to live if you work remotely from home
I’m renting here right now. I have a love hate relationship. I love how quiet it is, I love how close I am to Jt entrance, I love the sunsets, I love the big sky, but it has been summer for 7 months! I’m sick of the heat! A grocery outlet is opening soon here and I’m so excited, now I won’t have to drive all the way to Yucca.
Yes that’s what I hear a lot that the summer is why people don’t like it. Sounds like you guys are going to have a new pool within the town this coming summer. Yes grocery outlet is going to be much needed out there I agree with you on that
I was a union laborer in the 80s and helped build a Stater Brothers Market there, on the west end of town. Prior to that, there was Alamo Market in town or Vons if you wanted a big store. But, you had to drive all the way to Yucca Valley to shop. What happened to Staters?
Stayed here for a couple days and it's a nice little town. I went to Joshua tree and Palm Springs then went to Los Angeles/San Diego. A bit of a drive to each area
It should be noted if you have asthma the ozone is extremely high here and it will make your asthma worse. Also allergies are BAD here since it doesn't rain enough to wash the pollen out of the air. Not a good place for people with health issues, food allergies, or celiac disease
I live in Yucca Valley and there's NOTHING too do here's. Many restaurants have closed down. The day I got here, by the time I drove through the town,I texted my friend's and said "I'm leaving this one horse town". The only people I know who go to Joshua Tree National Park are foreigners. Why pay to see dirt and rocks when that's around you everyday all day. For shopping there's Marshall's, Ross, and Wal-Mart. To do anything you have to go to Palm Springs. That's about 40 minute from YV. Even further if you're from 29. If you're considering living anywhere up here, good luck. It's a hell hole.
@@ManYooFooty24which comment is racist??? The one where a woman wants to connect with people who look like her or the other one telling someone (who probably doesn't look like them) to STAY AWAY...
Twentynine Palms and Joshua tree and Yucca Valley are hell to live in. The crime rate has increased by 22% in the last year and the cost of living has gone up tremendously don't let anyone fool you

Ugh, girl I’m sorry. It will be nice when the new community pool is done next year. I do all online shopping so save trips down the hill but yes we need a target!
Honestly, if you like living in the desert, there are much nicer, much more affordable places with waaaaay more amenities in Arizona and Texas and you don't have California's insane taxes , cost of living, and crazy politics. You can always visit California from either of those states - 12 hour drive from Texas, 6 hours from AZ. I live in West Texas - My parents live in Scottsdale which is the same desert environment as 29 Palms except West Texas is friendlier and Scottsdale has more millionaires, lol. Plus they're way more to do and places to go in both places. I've never lived in 29 Palms but I've been through there many many times on my trips to and from California and it's never looked like the kind of place I'd want to live. There's nothing there, and its hot af - one summer there were car stalled all over the highway from ppls tires literally melting off. 29 Palms is a drive-through town and always the most boring part of the journey that we're always trying to hurry up and get through. Unless I were a Marine stationed there with no choice, I wouldn't live there. Or anywhere in California to be fair because the whole state is effed up, but 29P is definitely a place to live only if you're a soldier - or an illegal or criminal trying to fly under the radar.
Just depends on what youre looking for I guess. I live in Long Beach CA and have amenities everywhere that I rarely use and I always miss going out to the desert just to relax and be away from civilization. Arizona and Texas seem appealing because like you said the insane politics and regulations arent there as much. Im looking for acreage in the desert but I need to be able to hire contractors and be a reasonable driving distance to the big box stores. 29 isnt too bad since they have access to that stuff to the west.
Good afternoon Jessica thank you for sharing this video I been in 29 palms city for the last 7 years is beautiful place I love peace and quiet people are friendly over all more than big city is just very hard for single men who is looking for the future wife because the ratio like 90% men 10% women or 80% men 20% women and these single women I wish if they have more single woman looking for their future husband yes if you have any advice please let me know
No, were more human then the rest of the country, that's all pardner. Most of the people in this town are retired miliary. We don't have illegal aliens here either.
Yes Reggie he’s a great guy. There’s so much fun going on in 29 you’ll have to check it out. The ground squirrel or Campbell Hill bakery are great places to stop and grab a bite to eat
