The bush fires are certainly a major concern. I'm so touched by how many people across the world are fundraising for us here. Fortunately I'm in an area a long way from the fires but I know how frightening and devastating the impact of fires are. I saw that Mister Domestic is running an online auction to raise funds. The kindness from other parts of the world is overwhelming.
Thank you for a lovely and inspiring vlog. The people and animals in Australia are very much in our prayers here in The Netherlands. I used one of your links to make a donation. Take care and much strength.
I loved this video. I have also made the Zadie twice - I made the long sleeved version in a beautiful purple linen. I’ve just finished the sleeveless version in a lighter fabric - a cotton viscose. Both look fabulous, even though I am short and curvy. I agree that it is a pattern which suits all ages and body types. 👍😊
Love them and the reviews. In terms of free patterns, Peppermint magazine offer such great well finished contemporary and also beginner friendly option s, they may be an option to do for a sewalong. Thanks for all the work you put into your vlogs, they are really great.
So glad you are safe. Prayers are going up for all in Australia. Adele at Button and Pip on you tube has made a fantastic Zadie out of a floral scuba! I haven’t tried one yet.
OOOHHHH!! I wasn’t sure about the Zadie for me (I’m a bit over 5’ 10” tall) and would like a jumpsuit for my office based work. After watching your review, I am going to purchase the pattern, make my usual alterations, make a toile, then a cotton lawn and if it works on me try mid weight bonded stretch crepe. The style looks so good on you! The twice as nice series is super helpful, thank you! X
I bought a cheap crappy jumpsuit very similar to the Zadie from KMart (NZ) and was surprised how good it looks on me, so am going to try and clone it as I doubt it will last ( poor material). Love your Zadies and the direction your channel is taking.
Thanks for posting this! I can't wait to make the Zadie! (I'm always late to the party.) I like the idea of doing a video of free patterns. I think that is such a good idea and it does make sewing more accessible to to everyone. We are praying for Australia here in N. California.
Natasha thankyou so much! We are hoping the fire situation will ease up but it’s been such an early fire season this year 😞 I’m so glad you liked the video! You’ll love the Zadie xxx
Oh dear. I was rolling my eyes about yet another jumpsuit and thinking to myself - “Ergh. I am so over jumpsuits. Why would anyone want to wear one?” .......then I saw the line drawing and realised it is pretty much the same as the Now &Then Patterns Beach Pyjamas...........Which I made a couple of years ago in a floaty rayon from Spotlight............ And I have to admit that I really do love them. They are comfortable and cool to wear. I will have to go dig them out as they are perfect for the atrocious hot weather in Melbourne at the moment. BTW Your Zadies look great on you. And Thanks for reminding me what I have in my wardrobe 😏
TRACIE WEBSTER I love the name “Beach pyjamas” so much more! 🤣 yes they are amazingly comfortable but the worst bit us going to the toilet especially when you’re out 😩
That jumpsuit is just perfect for you! You look lovely in both version, you have a very food idea to put one free pattern tutorial a nd one pay pattern. Have a wonderful day. Christine
I’m so excited to make mine. I’m saving it for Spring/Summer this year. And I’m glad you’re all ok. There’s alot of fires in Africa too. Just not televised. xx
Hi, great video!! Really nice jumpsuit!! If you use a knit to make this one, you wouldn’t need a “bias” strip of fabric; just use the the stretch of the knit!!
I love this episode!! You have totally convinced me to make the Zadie! I love how it looks in the lighter weight fabric. I can't wait until your next episode on the Free Range because I am trying to decide if I want to try those or the Made By Rae Rose pants! Would you say cotton poplin would work for the Zadie? Thanks! PS, I would also love to see a wrap up of what Tshirt patterns you have made. Maybe free ones? there are so many to pick from! Thank you!!
I really enjoyed this pattern review! I have seen lots of versions on IG and have the pattern. I do intend to make this in African Wax print that I have in my stash as we get into better weather here in the U.K.. I do love a free pattern, so will really look forward to seeing your recommendations ❤️
Hi Kristen, Thankyou for the video, i like the pattern but probably won’t make it. Jumpsuits are too hard to get to the toilet. I want to Thankyou for the list of charities to donate to below. I live in Melbourne but you are much closer to the fires. We went to Eildon on the water with our boat and it was eerie being the only two boats there for 4 days. Smoke caused us to have asthma...very sick. What is your favorite interfacing that you use? Thankyou and best wishes. Looking forward to the free pattern reviews.
Viddy thankyou so much for watching! I just use a light weight iron on interfacing from Spotlight! I really need to try some more though! There’s lots out there I’ve never used. The smoke has been really awful for causing breathing issues for a lot of people 😥
Hi! I am wondering if you would feel.comfortable sharing your measurements? I'm making a Zadie soon, bit I'm struggling size selection - I usually range between 3 different sizes between the bust, waist and hip and 14 is probably the size of my bust but I'm wondering if I could get away with a 12 to better accommodate the rest of me? Thanks so much.
Found! Thank you! My full bust measurement is the same as yours, but my upper is 94cm. Do you think there is enough ease in the bodice with the cross over to go down to a 12? I may just have to muslin the bodice I think... 🤔🤔
Is the bodice and bottoms separate pattern pieces? I was wondering if I could do two separate prints for top bottom. I’d like to see some peppermint free patterns made by a fellow sewist. A lot of people said the peppermint jumpsuit is hard to get on and off. xx
Live, Love & Learn Naturally yes all seperate pieces so that would work so well! I might have to make the peppermint jumpsuit but adapt it to get in on or off easily!
Hi Kristen. Have been wanting to make this for ages but worry about choosing the correct size. We are the same height and similar body type.I’m a 12-14 (NZ) ready made. Did you shorten the Zadie at all? Thank you for your channel. It’s lovely to be able to get inspiration from close to home and from someone who has great style. Keep safe. The fires seem to be the only topic for conversation over here which means that you are all constantly in our thoughts.
Bernice Horne thankyou so much for your kind words! I love connecting with everyone especially from our own hemisphere! I would look at the 12 for yourself? A maximum 14 because I’m normally an au 14-16 in ready to wear! It’s very forgiving especially around the waist! I made it exactly as the pattern size 14 with no adjustments! Good luck and I’d love to hear how you go with it xx
