It's just that we are getting at that point where technology as we know it has reached its limits in advancement. Therefore, the gap between a mid-range and top tier are just the extras like a gaming chipset, wireless charging, material, etc I personally don't see the 700 difference in the tech we care: camera. I can't mention performance because it seems okay, not everyone is a gamer. I would go with this phone and get a pocket camera anytime.
@alexdenton6586
@alexdenton6586 23 дня назад
Actually, I'm not sure, but I do have some doubts about whether it's a good deal to go for a mid-range product. I always think it might be better to buy a refurbished or second-hand phone that is two or three years old, or even older, which would cost the same price, but at least you're getting something that was considered high-end at the time. For the same price, you get something that is mid-range-is it really worth it after all? Wouldn't it be better to spend 500 euros on an old flagship that was top-of-the-line at its release rather than spending the same amount on something mediocre that you will keep for several years? That's the question I'm pondering.
@yigiteydemir8295
@yigiteydemir8295 22 дня назад
Today's mid-range phones have most of the features as older flagships. For example A55 has terrible bezels but same design language as new S series, good 120 hz AMOLED screen compared to 3 years ago 60-90Hz versions. IP67 is still good imo. If you're okay with performance and cameras, you'll get probably same user experience for daily usage. Plus, todays mid-range phones will get 4 years OS-5 years security updates, while 2-3 year old flagships are reaching the end of their software support. But since mid-range devices especially Samsung devices are overpriced imo, it makes more sense to buy them with a discount of 300-400. The same goes for the Pixel A series. After all, I would buy a current mid-range instead of 2-3 years old flagship for 500 euros, but my preference would be to buy the current mid-range at a discount :)

Hey Mike! I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you reviewing phones besides flagships, and, even though some consider there to be huge differences in the two phones, only tech enthusiasts will really feel those. The bezels, the processor, the camera, are definitely noticeable improvements, but only too those who are actively searching for those differences. In short, thanks for your amazing reviews, and they are much appreciated. Kudos....from Pakistan 😉

I mean its rather obvious, the s24+ is top of the line, if you have the snapdragon version like I do. Its nearly identical to the s24 ultra. The a35 is budget, you arent getting the high tier performance and edgeless display and stuff. But if you dont care about that then theres no real reason to buy the expensive model. My s24+ is absolutely beautiful, crazy fast, 9-10 hour SOT per charge if im on wifi strictly. Display is just incredible. But I can understand why someone may want the cheaper budget option

Hey nice job on the comparison and without a doubt if you're on a budget,save money or maybe you drop your phone a lot and so it's better to buy a less expensive phone the A35 will get almost everything done that you want on a normal phone. Or I forgot maybe if you want SD card support also. I think the s24 Plus does come with some upgrades camera ,processor ,ram, screen resolution, haptic motor, charging speed, higher rated water and dust protection, much smaller bezels, 7 years of updates and people will say this is not worth it but I would still be using my s10e if it came with that. Also AI features which actually are pretty cool I have to admit I don't use them all the time but when I use them I find them quite handy. I do speech to text all the time and so having the faster processor is for me a must as I'm really horrible typer on a phone so that's a major thing for me.

This comparison is inevitably going to go in the flagship's favor. You can compare the S23+ (launched for $1,000) to the S23 FE ($500 right now), where the FE would win the value race. Same for the new Pixel 8a ($500) vs the Pixel 8 Pro (launched at $1,000) - the flagship loses big time there.

This review leaves out A LOT of information that set these phones apart. Most importantly, the S24 has the Gen 3 Snapdragon processor while the A35 has the Samsung Exynos 1380. So sure, the A35 has a bigger battery but that means absolutely nothing in real use-case scenarios (which weren't shown) as the Exynos chip will suck down that fat battery while the Gen 3 Snapdragon is by far the most energy efficient mobile processor available for Android phones. NOT comparing this is basically lying to people about what really makes these phones different. You're basically telling people to spend $400 because "it's basically the same thing" when in reality, they're so drastically different, it's hilarious. If I bought a $400 phone because someone told me "it's just as good as the flagship" then I look up the REAL difference, I would call them a moron and never listen to a single thing they say again. Do a better job in these reviews because this was just a straight fucking lie to your fan base.

What a pair of ordinary, boring, uninspiring looking devices. Samsung, imo, and I've said this since Galaxy S3, should stick to designing washing machines, and outsource every other design to someone who can actually do a half decent job. During this video, an ad came up for Samsung S23 FE (as brand new phone release?) and it looks IDENTICAL to these two. How did we allow Apple, Samsung to start charging us more for less? A THOUSAND DOLLARS for a phone....ridiculous. To hear you beech about bezels, which are almost non-existent tbh and as such make the design impractical, bezels that as human with hands, NEEDS them at least deep enough for the flesh of the fingers to grip the device without covering the screen...can you at all reset your mind from all the marketing gibberish NONENSE that has invaded your reasoning, and realize somehow that bezels are not a SPEC!? I tried holding an S24, and I kept constantly entering home screen settings or moving an icon - to not mess with the screen, I have to hold it so specifically and risk dropping it...heck no. Punch hole cameras are awful, they are so much more distracting in full screen video, in pretty much any type of content and media, than even a big notch. The brain wants to assign it to the whatever is on the screen, and it always distracts because it doesn't belong there. Notch is immediately dismissed subconsciously as part of the hardware, not the screen, and it doesn't interfere the same way. What happened with invisible Camera that's behind the actual pixels? oh yeah! that's called innovation and was the next thing to come from LG in their upcoming phones before they got forced into shutting down their mobile division...by disgustingly greedy uninspiring giant corporations, mindlessly devouring everything that can be challenging their status quo as the default providers. I'm a LITTLE cynical, since my favorite smartphone makers, HTC and then LG got demolished, because their business model of pushing real innovation was crushed by sheer greed. My daily driver, as they say? It's an LG G8. I'm an absolute audio purist, and there is no other professional level portable music player/device than can deliver pure audiophile level of high fidelity sound in it's highest format possible, which I hook to my dolby 5.1 home theatre and my pro headphones. I have a 1 TERABYTE high speed microSD card in it too, and I can film in 4K @60FPS as much as I want without any worry. Today's flagship phones have these super resolution cameras, even 8K video, and no expandable storage, while coming at laughable memory capacities, each next level costing literally hundreds of dollars more. It's time to look upto China for innovation that makes sense while not loosing the roots of the past.

Giving users a good camera experience with the A35/55 is a smart move by Samsung. That’s how you develop brand loyalty. In the future when a user of an A35/55 is ready to upgrade they’ll likely at least consider sticking with Samsung since they know their cameras are capable .

Just dropped in for shits and giggles. I have the S24 Plus. It's my backup phone. My daily driver is a 15 Pro Max. I used Galaxy S series phones from the original Galaxy S thru the S22 Ultra. Then I sold my S22 Ultra and bought a 13 Pro Max. Within a week it was my daily driver.

If you're not going S24 Ultra then go A35. S24 and S24+ are just useless, unless you're a gamer

I don't see your point of view. Why disregard the base models?

@@gustavjohansson2805 well, the A35 shape, size and look are almost the same. Cameras almost the same. S24 Ultra is an awesome phone but what you don't really get much more with other S models. A35 and you'll look like you have the S24 and have 90% the same phone. Get the A35, unless you're a mug

@@LynxEng yea but remember the S series are flaghsip phone and they are top of the line flaghip phones they play better gameswith Snapdragon 8 gen 3 but the a55 and a35 have exynos chipset

@@LynxEng but the s24 is still a flagship phone with a flagship experience, just without the niches of the ultra and a substantially smaller price tag. The difference in price between the a35 and the s24 is smaller than the differencein price between the s24 and the ultra, placing it in a sweetspot in my opinion. Also the a35 is not nearly as compact in size as the s24
