Bryson at 0:16 is so me when I first read Tzuyu's name.. And when I found out it's pronounced as "Chewy" I was like "Wtf? It's not even close to 'Tzuyu'"

i learn some chinese backthen in high school, tzuyu name is literally pronounce as ju-yee, cz the letter 'yu' at the end is using chinese character with tone read as 'ui' with the half air half sound voice, for what i learn chinese had approx 5 tone for each word/letter that mean different in every tone. thats why they had to used the right tone/pronounce. esp this not only a word, but a person borned name. (chewy is drawn as the simplest pronouncetion so the int. fan could simply pronounced it, i guess)

Tzuyu's name in chinese pronunciation is "Zi Yu." Her name is romanized into "Tzu, Yu" which personally doesn't make any sense cause it in no way sounds like her original name. Then to add to that they had to koreanize her name into "Jjeu Wi" pronounced as "Chewie" as in Chewbacca's nickname, which still doesn't really sound like her original name either even if they can get it close to it. THEN ADDING TO THAT, again relating to Star Wars, fans call her Yoda cause of her pointed ears. I can see why its pretty hard to keep up with.

I think Tzuyu is more of an English translation from Chinese dialects(since Taiwanese speaks dialect too) instead of Chinese. A lot of Chinese from south-east Asian countries have this kind of English names that do not really sound like their Chinese names. :)

the korean way to pronounce tzuyu is like "jjewy" the j sound in korean is kinda similar to the ch sound tho so that's why people say it's pronounced "chewy". but tzuyu's name is actually chinese and is pronounced really different than the korean version, but i'm not even gonna try to explain how to correctly pronounce it in chinese bc it's really confusing for non chinese speakers :p

About Tzuyu's name: she's got a weird situation where Tzuyu is written more like how her Chinese name is pronounced (actually more like Tzi-yuu), but her Korean transliterated name is 쯔위 (Jjeu-wi), which sounds more like Jzuwee or Chewy, which is why you hear her name pronounced multiple ways.

hahha yeah ikr, but in chinese name, it is 子瑜, (ziyu) it more like tzeu eui.. so her korean name pronounced right. i found non-chinese people kinda hard to pronounce tzuyu xD

I think the reason they sound similar is because of their accents. People say that Jungkook has an accent since he's from Busan and they speak a bit differently. And since Momo is Japanese, her Japanese accent transfers when she sings in Korean. I could be wrong but this is why I think they sing similar.

everyone's already correcting you on how to say tzuyu, but i'm gonna point out how you mispronounced mina's name. you say it like min-uh and it's supposed to be me-nah (me as in me and you). small detail, but it got under my skin lol i liked this reaction though despite bryson/hamza not enjoying the song, i appreciate the honesty! I do think it needed something else; a rap breakdown, vocal harmonies, etc. it was somewhat bland. super catchy though

kelseagee Really? My UB is Minah from Girls Day and I always pronounced it "meenah" but since Mina is spelled like that, I thought it changed the way you say it to "Min a" idk 😂 I'm horrible at Korean pronunciation And thank you so much :) I'm so happy you enjoyed! And I agree.

I feel you, i'm typically bad at pronouncing Korean names. Twice's Mina is Japanese and I know that's how it's pronounced, but Kang Mina from ioi, who's 100% Korean, also uses that pronunciation the more you know~

The 'n' (ㄴ) is connected to Mi (미) in Minah (민아 from Girl's Day) while the 'n' (ㄴ) is connected to the 'a/ah' to make 'na' (나) in Mina (미나 from I.O.I). That's why the pronunciations are different.
