On a lazy Sunday while using my SoloStove Campfire I was breaking up twigs to feed the fire and noticed that I would get some strips of bark that would peel off. I thought it would be interesting to see if I could collect enough strips to make a birds nest. I had made birds nests from peeling wild grape vine bark in the past and thought it wouldn’t hurt to try. I had collected the sticks and twigs from our yard prior to mowing the grass back in early autumn. The sticks are from tulip poplar, maple, ash, and unknown trees that we have around the house. The results are very promising. It really didn’t take all that much time and could be an alternative method for a tinder bundle or such. It is also something to occupy your time while sitting around the fire and prepping for your next fire.
