If you're going to attempt to rank the most important artists in CCM history I'm going to bet that Twila Paris makes your top 10. In my opinion, Twila belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of female artists! Her endearing voice, her delightful personality, her groundbreaking songwriting (she has songs in the hymn book!) and her induction into the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame have cemented her place in history. But doggone it if she's not one the nicest people I've ever met! And if you haven't listened to "The Warrior Is A Child" in a while....whew!

Just yesterday I was singing the Warrior is a Child and I was thinking where is Twila Paris. I go on RU-vid this morning and I see this interview. God is good and was happy to see this interview.

Twila Paris is one of my favorite gospel and worship singers, ever. Twila's able to cover the whole gamut of gentle and peaceful songs of praise, such as "What am I without You?" (my personal favorite song of praise for quiet meditation); the middle of the road, contemporary Christian classics of worship (e.g. "Runner"); right through to the powerful, instant hits and anthems of Worship such as "God is in Control" that lift your countenance, no matter how low you might be feeling, at any given moment/season in your life. I love you Twila Paris, and thank The LORD GOD Almighty for your wonderful gift of transferring His Spirit and inspiration into song form. Thank you, Andy for this great interview and biopic into Twila's GOD blessed and powered career in Gospel and Worship music. Subbed accordingly :D

Twila Paris isn’t a name I hear much these days, but she had quite the impact on me growing up in the 80s and 90s. So many great songs and memories!

Wow! I have been a Twila Paris fan for around forty years! And a 4Him fan for 34 years! Andy, this is such a great podcast!! I love the interaction around you and _The Warrior is a Child_ and Twila and _Where There is Faith_ and how you both drew strength and comfort from one another's music. I lived in NWA a couple of times in the 90s and thought about the possibility of bumping into Twila there (What would I say if I met Twila? Would I be able to convey my appreciation for her music?). So now is the time!! As I listen, I also consider that age-wise, I'm a contemporary of the two of you, and that I sadly did not allow God to use me during that time as he certainly used the two of you. God bless you for allowing Him to work through you to reach the souls of millions! I truly can't find words to say to convey my appreciation to the work both of you have done. Twila, I remember, fifteen or sixteen years ago, grabbing a church member to sing lead, getting my church choir together, and teaching them to sing the backup for _We Bow Down_ (The House of Worship arrangement). We rehearsed with absolutely no sheet music or lyrics on a Wednesday evening and then sang it on the following Sunday morning. We had a teen prodigy pianist, a teen prodigy drummer (both now professionals) and a choir who apparently could learn by ear as well as by sheet music. I even had them add the descant on the last chorus. They totally killed it. I was in tears, and that quiet Missionary Baptist church came alive that day!! And I'm with Andy on _The Warrior is a Child_ . When I hear "I drop my sword an cry for just a while", I literally have to fight back tears. Andy, You, Marty, Mark & Kirk inspired me and so many others in our spiritual walk. Different friends and I sang quite a few 4Him songs in the 90s and 2000s. I grew up in an 8-member family, singing hymns a Capella in the car as we travelled, so I could pick up any harmony in an instant. I listened to 4Him songs over and over, drawing out all the harmonies and dwelling on them. Your music was such a path for me to the throne of God! Whenever someone mentions 4Him, my brain immediately says 🎵"So don't go wastin your time holdin on to your liiiife" 🎵 Lastly, Twila, I have a brother who is your age. He had Hep C as a child. Fortunately for him, alcohol wasn't a part of our lives, and he didn't destroy his liver in college. He's 66 now and doing fine... he just has to keep an eye on it. Sorry for the length of this comment... but Andy, yours and Twila's music is such a deep part of my life!! God bless you two!!

So my favorite years for all of this were the ones when I was a Christian music deejay in DC and my favorite Twila song was the one about letting no man steal your crown, awesome then and still. And after those years ended, it was radio and that's how it goes, I kept my hand in it by being a volunteer concert runner for nearly a decade and for sure, tho' I said little because my job was to get the artists safely to the venue, I was honored to drive Twila from a hotel to the Weinberg Center in Frederick, Maryland. And I have Twila vinyl, O yeah, from back in the day. And just yesterday I added to my collection with a thrift-store find, Marian Anderson Sings Eleven Great Spirituals on RCA Victor, a minty mono long-play 10" record. 😀

Another great interview, with another favourite CCM artist of mine. I love all her work, but Kingdom Seekers (album) is my all-time favourite of hers. I loved hearing her reminisce about how the CCM artists interacted with each other, haha. It adds a nice touch of realism to all of you. Thanks for this one Andy!

We love NW Ark. TRUE STORY: We had her song ‘How Beautiful’ at our wedding in upstate NY in October 1992. What made it even more powerful was the lady that sang it was the brides’s sister. Her sister had been injured in a car wreck the day before the wedding and her car totaled. She miraculously was able to not only attend the wedding but sing that beautiful song before 150 people. What a powerful time it was. Thank you Twila.
