Technically you can even be under daylight, use your twilight sanctuary to be under constant dim-light and then use steps of night. You're a flying healing buff gifter cleric
Just started playing a Twilight Cleric. Currently at level 2. Took Custom Lineage and grabbed the Magic Initiate (Warlock) feat. Picked Eldritch Blast and Booming Blade for my cantrips. Chose Expeditious Retreat for my single use first level spell. Eldritch Blast for long range attacking especially once I start flying at level 6. Booming Blade to add to my melee attacks. Expeditious Retreat for 10 minutes of bonus action dashing upto your walking speed. And, since your flying speed equals your walking speed, you can fly very quickly if needed. I'm planning to take the War Caster feat at level 4 for obvious reasons. Then at level 8 I'm looking to take the Metamagic Adept Feat. Using Extended Spell and Aura of Vitality I will be able to heal 40d6 to my party mainly out of combat.

I'll be honest, I don't see how twilight sanctuary is anything but a 10. I don't agree that the temp hp could be higher, as it is already absurdly good. The best example of this would be with a totem barbarian. At level 2, assuming the barbarian is getting an average of 5.5 temp hp every turn, if they are raging, enemies have to do MORE than 11 damage to every turn to even put a dent in the barbarians actual HP. Twilight sanctuary would be my choice of strongest class feature in all of 5e, especially with the flight at level 6 and +2 ac bonus at level 17, it's so strong is so many ways that it's just beyond broken. Also, I would defintely rule steps of night as only working when in dim light or darkness, it's already strong enough with your twilight sanctauary making it so you are in dim light EVERYWHERE you go.
How do you figure rules as written that you can fly in the daylight? It plainly says you draw from the mystical powers of the night and when you are in dim lighter or darkness. It's so weird how people twist things to see how they want to see it when it's plainly says what it says
Adult Red Dragon gets 120ft Dark Vision while Dark Vision spell gices 60ft DV and Eye of the Night grants 300ft DV shared by up to 5 people and it is rechagable with lv 1 spell slot at lv 1. Adv at Inititive is unspeakably good. Just out of curiosity, would you tell me how Twilight Sanctuary's hp can be better? This provides ridiculous amount of hp per battle. I dont think I need to speak further, no wonder this class along with Peace Domain (and Twilight is probably worse because it is less complicated than Peace Domain) is banned across so many tables. Even UA wasnt this crazy. It is not because, Tricked Clerics lowered our standard, TD is just nuts.
They really did go insane with this subclass. It combos with so many multiclassing options, it gives amazing Darkvision at level 1. It's really hard to beat this one except for Peace in most situations
Given your friends Dark vision is kinda cool. But what dungeon only last an hour? And when the Sun goes down, I'm pretty sure it stays down for longer than an hour, so it's in okay.
This is true but what is worse is getting attacked in the dark so this helps to be able to at least survive the encounter. If there is no danger, at least you can stumble through with the players who do have it leading the way
I can see why there has been such a call to ban this class! Honestly I think it is more broken than the Peace domain because with with Peace domain you have to rely on your teammates to work strategically to take advantage of the abilities.
