Just discovered this channel, as a new TI4 player I am loving these faction guides. Right now I am just using them for the flavour of the factions to figure out which ones I want to play as not to spoil the discovery of being rubbish and fumbling through the tech trees!
What i've seen is that they are very strong politicly and make friend/ trade partners very easily. As long as they don't focus on empty systems all the time, they should see DET explore as a bonus where most get nothing. The Codex does really help. They are one of the blue-tech big boys, which helps a lot ofcourse. Becoming neighbors with all player is hard early game, but those mechs are insanely powerfull.
Nearly won a 3-player game with Empyrean playing against the Naalu and and Titans of Ul. Was super fun utilizing their promissory notes and negotiating ways to help each side in their objectives. Required a lot of randomness, though, like happening to get the Naalu's 0 token. The one thing I need to figure out is being more defensive with them, because I wasn't able to stop the winslay. But maybe that's easier in a game with more players because you can hide under the surface more.
Maybe I missed it, but i'm surprised you didn't recommend atleast one green tech so they can upgrade fighters for the purposes of going around the galaxy picking up those frontier tokens. Is there a specific reason you'd advise against fighter II? Too much of an investment for something that could be accomplished by other high value ships?
Great stuff! Your whole presentation is on point. I've got a friend who bought TI4, but hasn't played yet. I'm usually a Barony type of guy, but this guide got me interested in The Empyrean! Hopefully my friend and I can meet soon and spend the whole day playing, just like we did all the time before the pandemic hit. Anyways, thanks for the video! I feel they keep improving!

Ideas for fighting the Empyrean: overwhelming force. They'll typically not have big or powerful fleets, so just build a big fleet and go for them. Just make sure not to give them ceasefire from their faction tech.
