Jesus! What a Guy! Sky is such a down to earth guy like any of us, working long hours to bring us these incredible videos for us to learn by… I’m so happy it was just a valve rod not seated correctly… and for a pro mechanic to admit one tiny check not done, takes guts! But with all your work on that magnum, I’m so pleased it was just that! I’ve a Hemi here in the UK, which is something you never see here, and watching his videos has inspired me to maintain and keep it on the road running strong here, so thank you! Looking forward to seeing it run and flying around in it! Keep rock in’ Sky! Ps, love the new beard! 🇬🇧

Those pushrods are tricky. Even if it looks like they're seated properly, they still pop out sometimes. That happened on my 300C when I got done rebuilding it. It was misfiring on #6 (which also happened to be the cylinder that dropped a valve seat before the rebuild), I pulled the valve cover, found a pushrod was popped out, and realized it needed another valve cover gasket because the brand new one decided to tear in the back and caused the oil leak that I was hunting.

I almost died not paying attention to an outer tie rod on the passenger side - insane situation that I lived through!

I rebuild 5.7 hemi engine, with valve drop,,😂 and when i was installing push rods I had his voice saying in my head be careful with rods they will pop out. Safe to say they didn't. took me longer to make sure they seated right. Thanks for that.🎉

This is exciting! I'm glad you found someone that is willing to work with you to get it tuned. I can only imagine your panic when it started missing. I hate the feeling when you know it's got to be right cause you were so careful but yet something is wrong. I'm excited to see this on the road and what it will do!

Happy birthday to your daughter. That's one heck of a nice 1st car. Should be a lot of fun to drive and I'd guess good gas mileage (Something that high school age kids need with today's gas prices!)

Another thing that I noticed was wrong was one of your videos where you said you can eagle swap heads to gen 3 hemis. They do not work without custom length pushrods which is a pain. I was under the idea that they would just work by swapping the eagle heads, pushrods and pistons and rods over but it doesn't.

The EXACT same thing happened to me when I was building my Hemi. (Which was following your Cam-Swap Challenger Build) After a manufacturing defect in the first Cam cause the piston and valves to kiss, I had to rebuild and once we got done, we had smoke out the back and no compression and misfire in cylinder #5. We were worried that a piston had cracked and/or the block had been damaged as we only swapped the Valves and a Valve guide. Until we suddenly got compression back again, and then it went away. The Tech who was helping me told me to take the valve cover off and see if anything looks weird. Yep, Pushrod had slipped off. After taking a funny video of it, put it back together and for the first time in 5 months, my Charger was able to Roar down the highway. Also, What? No Mopar for the girl's first car??? I'm just kidding of course.

Glad to see you are driving it once again. Great to have a tuner on board to dial it in, that will make it a beast for sure. No doubt you will learn some things along the way. What is that in the other bay at 15:05?? Did you get another project that will be coming in the future? Happy belated birthday to your daughter. I'm sure she is over the moon with that gift. Very cool tutorial on closed/open loop fuel system operation and fuel trim and its effect on running. Sorry your pushrod popped out and caused some momentary grief, sometimes doo-doo happens, and you were straight up with us on describing what happened. Had a persistent P219A code a couple years ago in my '14 300C 5.7 that drove me nuts finding it, turned out to be poor O2 sensor placement in shorty headers(was reading exhaust out of one cylinder instead of all 4), moved upstream O2's downstream about 2" into the mid pipe and problem solved, also plugged off the bungs in the headers. It raised hell with the fuel trim in the left bank for sure! Thanks for another great video!

Hm, after rebuilding my 6.1 Hemi and changing the cam with stock tune it will knock and pudder right around 3k rpm up until my oil temp is about 220 it might give a full wonderful pull. and sometimes just sitting at idle it'll idle down and rev up, kinda loud like I romped the gas a little. Was told the cam can run on the stock tune being it wasn't any more aggressive then my stock cam. probably should just put my 6.1 cam back in... ugh

Love the videos. I just ordered my long tubes & high flow cats mid pipes for my 5.7 challenger. I truly want to do the 392 manifold upgrade but every video on other channels they are buying “ready set up eBay kits” I’d really love to see you do a video on this mod by not doing an eBay kit. I understand getting outsourced parts. At MMX the only 5.7 kits are for trucks. I reached out to MMX but said they’ve been having problems with their module. Whereas everyone else was using an outsourced switch from MSD I believe? Do you have plans to do this mod on a future build? I’d love to see one with an accurate parts list. I’m thinking on just buying a MMX ported 392 manifold then just use the MSD switch. But honestly I’d trust the method you choose being you’re what I consider a Mopar expert

Not for the sake of pure argument, but I believe the fueling concept is a bit different - the ECM, NGC4 specifically does not have the fueling maps per se, rather it operates with the set stoichiometry value and then has various additives and factors to it, that are based on ECT, IAT, power demand (PE and Decel), component protection, startup condition and the list goes on... But still - it is not a 3D fueling map. What it does have as a map is the VE map used to calculate the airflow and ultimately the mass of air, that gets to the cylinder at each given moment (aircharge). This airmass is used for calculating the fuel amount, which is then translated into injector pulse and there you have it. However, you're correct in referencing the accumulated LTFT values as a map, which is populated and updated as the engine operates, and then used for quick modification of the applied fuel amount. Great to know that you now have a tuner working on the project and can't wait to see this engine really perform! All the best!

In theory.. would it be possible to use one of the Hemi's two spark bores to directly inject fuel into cylinders? We could run higher compression

Really interesting concept! Funny enough with the Hemi engine, if even one spark plug in a cylinder is bad it will misfire on that cylinder, so you can't really take one away. I think the main issue with trying to make an engine direct injected that didn't come that way is finding a way to run the high pressure fuel pump. They normally are run off of an extra cam lobe so making it work without that would be very difficult.

Great video! But after you explained how you had your 02’s setup I’m leaning towards that being the reason for your motor blowing. These Hemi’s are picky

I actually had them disabled through the PCM when it blew up because I wasn't using the closed loop tuning at that time. The engine looked like it ate an exhaust valve for some reason.

I had a question that i need help on, so im trying to do the same type pf swap but in a jeep grand Cherokee im switching from a 6.1 to a 6.4 BUT i can’t get my pcm to read my camshaft sensor, what could it be? I switched the sensor already, and its not reading, could it be that its having trouble reading the new phaser of the 392? If anyone could help lmk thanks
