If I'm not mistaken, it had to be necessarily two of the same sex, because in her pregnancy story, she told that the first time they saw just ONE embryo, so the second one has split from the first and they must be monozygotic twins. ( not in a mean way I had twins and I love telling people the difference between them) so if someone says that they only saw one embryo and it split that would be di-di. In more simple words people call that fraternal. There is also mono-mono which is identical. The difference is with mono mono they are in the same sack and they use the same placenta. Mono mono is actually the rarest kind of twins. And then you have the mono di. Which is also identical but it’s just 2 separate sacks. But still the same placenta. So how you know which one your having is actually pretty simple. Most of the time with fraternal one looks further along by a day or 2 then the other. Hence the embryo spitting in half. With identical however you see them sooner and they look the exact same on an ultrasound. Also with fraternal it is very hard to tell super early if there is 2. With identical it is super easy to tell! I had mono di identical. They are now 3 months old I had 2 girls
