​​@@GoldenStateFishing Thx GFS for showing us Camp Manzanar. Many folks don't know the US had 10 concentration camps in some of the most desolated locations in the USA during WWII. We had same reasons for not stopping there, tired, hungry & wanting to get home after a wknd of fishing. We did visit when the museum opened, w/ Mom. We saw Dad's name listed on the roster. He was 1 of 11 volunteers who went up there to help set it up b4 the internees arrived. Fast forwards 20yrs(?) later Dad & my 2 Uncles cleaned the grounds, reset the knocked over gravestones, etc. on their pheasant hunting trips. Respect. Did u notice the memorial was used as target practice...some people have no respect.

Actually Miyatake-san made the camera he used to take those fotos as cameras were illegal for the internees.

​@@GoldenStateFishingDid u c the exhibit on the "runaway fisherman"? He snuck out at night to go fish the streams. He mite stay out a few days, but he always returned to "camp". A loyal fisherman in more ways than 1.

I’m out there every 2 weeks .. the sierra is my second home away from home . I’ll be back out next weekend and a bunch of times in fall . We did good but yes super hot 🥵

It was a time of war. Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor. Not making excuses for the government, but its not like the Republicans stood up for Japanese-AMERICANS & came to their rescue. The internees didn't care if the powers that be were Democrats or Republicans. It was US policy. & it was shameful for the entire country as most of the internees were born here. Note: there was not 1 conviction of espionage, treason or insurrection on the part of those internees. FACT!
