When I got to the fishing segments in this video I was in heaven! When I first got outta the Air Force in 1972 I used to go up into the Rockies with my father in law backpacking. I’d spend the day before the trip in his yard catching big grasshoppers for our bait the next day using the clear bubble setup like you mentioned! Good times! Stay safe! ~Jim~
I got out of the Air Force in 74 so you are just a couple of years ahead of me. I never got to fish with my dad. He was always too busy. But my grand father took me out a few times while growing up. I didn't really get into fishing until the early 80s.
Larry, imagine if we were starting out today. I probably would have my home base, then be a Nomad traveling the country if not the world (before Covid) that is. We kind of got it all started with Van conversions, etc but funds were so limited in the day all I could afford was a worn out 1965 ford econoline work van. I bought it for $225.00, it had 122,000 miles, a worn out clutch, and plenty of dents, lol. What’s funny is it had a 170 6 cylinder, got 22mpg on the highway, decent mileage by todays standards even 43 years later
Love sharing and my videos are not just about trailers as you can see. Lots of other adventures on this channel and some are so old that the resolution is lacking because of the kind of cameras that were available back then.
Trolling sometimes has the best results on those little Sierra lakes. I have fished off the bank all afternoon, never had a bite and seen guys in a little aluminum skiff troll by 20 yards farther out catch big Browns.
Just left there on Nov 8 2023 and killed it using 2" Berkley minnow with a bobber about 18" above over by the boat rentals. Also using a mouse tail with sliding weight. 3 of us caught our limits. Really like this lake, and it was the first time we had been there.
I need to go bag and I need to get to Twin Lakes bad it's my favorite place on the whole planet that and Maui I went to Twin Lakes for 23 years in a row love it there love it love it love it
I haven't seen your vids in a couple of months so I clicked on the bell. That is a beautiful place, looks like you have it all to yourself, where's the dog?
You want some good size fish greatest fishing hole that I've ever found in the Sierras except 395 on the way to Truckee you come to the Marine base on the right side you go down the road it's on the left side there's cattle the stock loaders old Stock loaders you walk down to that stream you cast over to the edge of that Creek that River and you're guaranteed to pull 3 lb trout out of there not in the Melt of snow though the river is too rough
