Lea Salonga is the first Asian Tony & Laurence Olivier Awardee. She is the Disney Princcess & also the Broadway Diva. She won many international awards as well. Pls. react to her version of Don't Cry for Me Argentina, Wonderful reactions & comments. Thanks fr. Manila. Stay Safe.
Lea is the only disney princess that performed twice in a disney movie soundtrack. You guys ever ever saw her on west end as kim in miss saigon? During the time it was a gruesome daily performance.
You should see her in Miss Saigon. She was stunning vocally and theatrically. She has maintained that clarity in her voice which lends much for theatre as we can clearly understand the lines. Her high notes are not irritating, so unlike many belters.
She became popular on Ms. Saigon. She’s the original. Yes she’s known for her diction and that you understand every word. She’s a pride of the Philippines.
Yes yes yes. Oh my god. I adore her, she's the quintessential Epinone. I loved Sam Barks too but Lea is THE one., There are some seriously stunning other performances in this 10th Anniversary concert. It would be amazing if you could react to one or more of these please? Philip Quast singing Stars, Colm Wilkinson singing Bring Him Home
Actually this performance was a one night thing. This wasn’t your typical broadway show that ran multiple nights. It was a special anniversary event. She did It in head voice because she can’t really belt. She’s never had a performance where you heard her belt this note
@@quiddy As it's a concert, yes, they only performed once. However, the original poster meant that (most) musical theatre actors perform 6 to 8 shows a week, so they must take good care of their voices. Also, it's not that Lea cannot belt. She can, but prefers not to. She's a master of mixing and takes good care of her instrument that way. 😊
Bing Bing I know what he meant but that’s not a valid reason for why Lea didn’t belt it in that particular performance. That one night event was a pretty huge event and given that it was a one night thing, there was no reason why Lea would not belt it other than the fact that she couldn’t. Lea cannot belt. Have you even seen any of her performances where she belts? Maybe in the lower notes but I’m talking about her higher range.
So much respect with Ms. Lea Salonga in she singing ... Like she is owning the stage whenever she sings.. so powerful and magical... Can't compare her to other singers in Saigon. ❤️🥰
Please check out Lea's version of Don't Cry for me Argentina. Also "I know him so well" and "Movie in my mind" both with Rachelle Ann Go, another Filipina theatre artist/singer. Both were done in London.
It’s good that you like Lea but I don’t know exactly what you mean. Freddie Aguilar anak song was translated in more than 28 languages. Pilita corrales also had international acclaim. The invention of the karaoke machine was credited to a Filipino. Perhaps you mean the most popular?
Wow, I had only just seen your reaction vids and I immediately looked up if you have one on Lea Salonga and you do! (just 23 minutes ago! Amazing!) #LeaSalonga #ProudFilipina
Still on the intro... damn lads, your voices suit Country Music so naturally! One of my fave intros of yours so far. (It's my favorite Cheryl Crow record as well.)
I heard she was singing this since she was little that why she knows this song by heart. It was also her audition piece for Miss Saigon where she played the main character even before she got the role in Disney.
You're one of my favorite reactors. Great comments. Great voices too. I'm a fan. Can you please react to Elaine Duran Singing "Someday". Thanks! Greetings from the Philippines.
Great reaction from two who have and appreciate great singing talent. Lea has such a magnificent voice, truly a treasure. You ought to try a listen to Voctave. All the singers are awesome and do justice to Disney songs amongst others.
Thanks, guys! Lea was absolutely phenomenal! And, btw, the intro from you two guys was great. Continued success with whatever you do. I hate to do this because this video belongs to Lea but, I've never tuned into you guys before and I would like to suggest something for you to listen to. I know you will enjoy it. Angelina Jordan singing Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT/The Champions from 2020. Please, don't get distracted by the AGT reference or anything else. Listen to her and. believe me guys, you will take it from there. You'll know what I mean. The fact I'm here listening to Lea gives you an idea of my taste for great music.
I'm happy to be able to watch Miss Saigon and a bit sad because it wasn't Leah Salonga.. She was 18 when she got the role of Kim.. She's a Legend❣️ wish I could go back to that time 🥺
Dont forget that before all that disney of mulan & aladdin shes kniwn as Ms Saigon where she won the prestigious Tony Awards in broadway & Sir Olivier awardsnin London . Shes not only a super good singer but a multi awarded actress in theatre as well in broadway & in London
She did a duet with Regine Velasquez singing a Medley during Quarantine and Lea is still the same, clear, precise diction, on pitch and just using a regular earphone at that. Please also react to that when you have the time because both Queens did an amazing performance.
Thanks for that lovely intro! Not the first time watching this performance for the Les Misérables anniversary but it still gives me goosebumps each time I see it. Lea opened the door for other Asians to London's West End and to Broadway. I had the opportunity to see her perform as Kim in 'Miss Saigon' back in 2000 in Manila. Check out The Feed's interview with her from a few years ago, if you want to know more about her: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NwaSR_sbUus.html
One vocal coach reacted to her ending verse, that she didn't paused for a breath for it it was just one breath from " but only....' until 'on my own'... and I did notice too and it is so hard to copy.
Cause sometimes we are blinded by temporary pleasures it brings us, but at the end, we realize it's really not the kind of happiness we are looking for. ❤ I'm not familiar with genres but it sounds country to me, and I love it. :)
