here's a quote from Lea Salonga's interview where she talked about the struggles she faced as a person of color in theater back in the day and being the first asian actor to play Eponine in Les Mis: "there is some expectation and i think i spent quite a few sleepless nights thinking, i am sure there are people out there who are just waiting for me to mess up just so they can say, "see, look, it doesn't work" so i really made sure i NAILED that song. like on opening night and on every night afterwards i was just driven to make sure to give no one any room to say anything negative about that." -Lea Salonga honestly, she's ICONIC. paved the way to so many asian artists!!!

I kinda remember Regine Velasquez once said that Ms.LEA'S voice is a pitch perfect and also most of the singers in the Philippines said that Ms.LEA SALONGA is the only one who has crystal clear voice and no doubt to that! Hands down!💖

She is a Gem in Philippine Music. She is the original voice of Princess Jasmine & Mulan. She won in 1991 a Tony award for best actress in musical (Miss Saigon), a Laurence Olivier Award, Drama Desk Award & Outer critics circle award.

I watched in one of her interviews that Lea works very, very hard to perfect her pitch and intonation - because being Asian, she is always inclined to prove to doubters that she can do it. She needs to show her Western colleagues that she deserves the role offered to her because she has the talent and will to do it.

She is really known to have that ear in music hardly ever out of tune. Her audition for Ma Saigon is so magical at 16. Ypu can check it out in You tube

Aside from Ms. Tara Simon, you Yazik are my favorite vocal coach reactors. Simply because you and ms. Tara are the only reactors thats says that KZ tandingan has C range in her Rolling in the deep performance (singer competition). Aside from that you explain that just because you dont have higher range doesnt means you cant be a great singer. Its a matter of technique and how you utilise your voice like kz did in her performance.

Now I confirmed that you are such a legit and a very technically note to note detector because you got the same thought with Regine Velasquez at this part 4:40 about the perfection of the pitch that Lea Salonga has.

Amazing, Ms. Tara simons says also that Lea is mixing in that part for the reason that it doesnt exhaust your voice. As broadway musical plays runs for along period of days. Mixing their voice really helps the singer not tire their voice. Amazing Coach.

Yes, this was in 1995...it was for the 10th anniversary. I remember ‘cause I was at University when this came out. You really need to go watch her live in a concert hall. She’s come to Hawai’i several times and I my friends and I went to watch her a couple of times...simply impressive.

I always like the Miss Saigon, Sun and Moon. Even her audition for it was beautiful, even if she was being corrected on the key and tone. Her voice was beautiful.

There is a video of Lea Salonga singing" I dreamed a Dream", recorded during the actual play (played Fantine) and she was intense in it. The quality isn't as great as this, obviously, but I still got goosebumps. Hope you check that out. Musical theatre singers don't get as much credit as they should esp considering they have to perform these songs live with full emotion while acting out the play for 2 hrs, 8 shows a week. the best ones just can express the emotions so well and evoke feelings from the viewer so effortlessly and you find yourself hanging on every word and every note..

She's classically trained since a very young age....Regine and other Filipino singers have relative pitch, but Lea and only some few have absolute pitch.

Other popular veteran singers (Regine Velasquez and Lani Misalucha) are reluctant to judge singing competitions because they say that they only have relative pitch, while Lea has Perfect Pitch, making her a perfect judge for The Voice Philippines.

I suggest you watch her duet with Marius, "A Little Fall of Rain" it will surely take your breath away.

Yes, Lea Salonga is pitch perfect. A lot of singers have said it too. Lea said on her interview during the saga of Miss Saigon, Disney etc, she almost lost her voice but Classical singing saved her.

A friend of mine got me a free ticket when we are in New Mexico... it was a majestic opera house first time I’ve ever seen in my life ... that night I can’t relate to the songs, acting and multiple performances but I am pretty simply amazed how the backgrounds transitions...I was not getting the actual juice of music but I was really not into musical I don’t know why, but lately watching soap opera now opening my inner being how beautiful the sounds in my ears ... it actually help calm me down and release my stress.
