I won't even hear my radio if my LS1 if past 3.5k RPMs.....seeing how this LT2 can crank to 7k RPMs the radio would be the last thing I'd use in this machine !
I'm of that same mind. The stereo in something like a C8 is useless as far as I'm concerned. I pulled the stereo out of the Z28 way back when, and replaced its face with a gauge & switch panel. It's not like the stereo could be heard over the sound of the exhaust through the cutouts anyway.
@Meta World Peace probably from people that have bought cars from him! I have never drove his cars and never spoken to anyone but alot of people have said he ripps people of! A real lot! And last video he said he is not driving this twin turbo as its a prototype but this video he drives it! If it was turbocharged a week ago why not drive it? Thats dodgy to me! Maybe it was just finished now ! Shorly after you finish something you immediately drive it to test it? Why wait a week? I could be wrong im not accusing him just commenting on what i notice! There is also alot of lies in comments so it could all be not true so dont take anything ive said as fact just an observation ive noticed!
Not trying to make you mad how ever I love turbos can't get enough of that sound. However my instant reaction was nooooo it sounds like a old truck duel exhaust pickup truck that someone put turbos on. Guess I'm not a fan of this particular sound. Its absolutely an amazing butt kicking car though.
I agree with both of you c7 is a proven example. I have no doubt this turbo system is clearly an actively advancing prototype that when finished will be all of our wish list items.
Here’s a guy that drives whatever he wants and when he mashes the pedal and the power hits he still gets excited like it was his first time ever. That’s cool.
m - I saw that and that Vette was impressive. The driver did do a good job but it looked like he wasn’t hitting the apexes correctly. Maybe it was just the optics but either way, that Vette is an engineering marvel. Wish he had better tires on it.
@@WarriorsPhoto Depends on how much you want to spend over time. A turbo charged engine is under greater stress and tends to wear faster. The stock transmission may not be designed to handle the much greater load. The shift duration in this video seems to be much longer under hard acceleration.
Karl K The end part was to add a little bit of laughs. I don’t modify cars anymore. I may when time and dollars permit go get a 90’s era Japanese car or Corvette Z06. But other than that a modern car is more than capable for my daily needs.
I remember when he first started out I was just a kidit was always a competition between the Viper and the Corvette and the two tuners John lingenfelter and Hennessy sure miss the good old days.
@@ErnestoBoots I had me a 95 TT stealth/ 6-speed. black with tan leather interior, original chrome wheels..it was a beauty. with just bolt ons it was a fun car, that was way ahead of its time..built strong.
@@SrtKillz12345 Aww man you can't go wrong with black...yes you're right, they were way ahead of their time! I wonder if anyone ever modded one to the 2,000hp Mark. Official VR4/Stealth RT thread lol.
1993 3000GT VR4. Pearl white. Red leather interior. 185MPH On the dash. Realistically like 180MPH. I doubt any less. That car was wicked fast. Especially once past 55mph. It cuts off at redline. The needle hits the board past. But it cuts you off. You get back to 178.5mph. Then back to 185 plus... Hits the board. Fuel cut off. And back. You cam hold 185-190mph for about 10-15 seconds. You figure... Average has to be best of a few runs. So 185mph high. 180 mph low. Dash. So on the street. I think its 185mph all day. Given enough road. Good conditions. For about 12 seconds. Solid. With higher boost. Maybe dialed and tuned to 400bhp +. 200mph is available easy. The rumor is 205 mph limited to gearing. But I believe with 500bhp to 600bhp.... 215mph - 220 is possible. Any more power. It would top out the same. Just quicker to do so. Anything past 205 mph is aero dynamic restrictions. Not gearing. Of course me... I'd go Honda J series V6. Twin Turbo. Aem infinity. With a PPG dog box. And keep All Wheel Drive. Rock solid. Stable. 160 is a freeze. Then surge... Peaks... Full max everything. The engine hits the hood at top speed on the secondary banks. So cylinder.... 1, 2, and 3.... Calm ... Cylinders... 4, 5, and #6!!!!.. Hit the hood... Prunm... Prunmm .. Praunm.... Nnnnma... Lol. I still remember. I was braking motor mounts! With a pasanger !!!! * In Mexico of course.... Lmao!
That's gonna be the next new car I buy hands down. Thank you John Hennessey for all the hard work you have done for us the little guy who Wwwrench on our cars and love the excitement of you and your team building and enjoying the cars that we love to wrench on and make them perform even better. I appreciate your channel and keep up the great work you do. Peace
Sadly the C8 isnt even the top 10 fastest Vettes of all time. Its quick not fast once you hit 110 the C8 vette stops pushing itself to the limit unlike the Older Vettes. Vette were monster off the roll while this one loses to Mustangs.
Its rear wheel drive and then engine is in the middle now. So the transmission will be stressed less. Though I see awd zr1 and C?.R packages with 6cyl twin turbo engines
You realize there are plenty of other cars that are more refined than the C8 that put down nearly that much power? I don't think it'll make records on the track but maybe on the drag races.
Anthony Whitford probably because the next breaking point is the diff or the trans! I can’t wait to watch people break it and rebuild it to withstand more power.
Exhaust right off the turbine always sounds so cool. Like the old STS rear mounts... nice job John. I’m glad you survived those rocky viper years. You know the ones. I’ve been a fan since the old days tho. Remember those old Motor Trend shootouts? The red venom and the yellow c5 zo6. Ruf porsches... the good old days
Now let’s see a top speed video of this new C8 like you did with the C7 in Texas. That’s still one of my favorite all time RU-vid videos! Your content is some of the best, sir!
ExpWars overkill for the street but NOT overkill doing rolling launches on a decommissioned airport runway vs exotics *drool*. But for me, a stock C8 or C8 W/ mild tune + exhaust is all I need/want.
@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA he is talking about how affordable this car is compaired to these over rated European cars. I do not think that you can buy performance like this for this much over there. Unless you buy used then they break all the time. So yes the c8 did set the mark with affordable performance
Silver Lion Media no you’re not stop lying c8s with nitrous are running mid 10s not seeing any Supra do that. Japanese performance cars aren’t good like they were in the 90s.
@@jaredchampagne2752 Yes ur right but its worth it i think. Power have a price and a car like this one with 800hp crank will be a supercar killer . Since not every one like flat plane crank like the z06 rumours announced, people are gonna buy stingrays like crazy and mods them, then .. cost will be lower on a mass produced . And again its my own opinion
John, you are a Beast!!! This build is going to be EPIC once it's completed. Nothing else to be doing during this COVID19 shut down, but building some more super fast cars. Love It!! You, your team and everyone, stay safe, all will get back to normal soon enough. Just need to be patient and extra careful for the time being. Cheers to you all from Toronto.
Lol, I thought it was funny when "that other" shop freaked out and started throwing shade at yall when you announced that you built the first turbo C8.... I bet they are have a difficult time sleeping after witnessing this xD Great work guys! That thing sounds evil
Nah they are designing a better kit and doing it right by not rushing it. I guess it's cool to be the first but I'd rather be the best. Greatness takes time. If you don't respect that rule of life then you have already lost the game.
I told people that this car was going to put a lot of Mustangs and Hellcats,Red eyes,on the trailer,or be sending them home early,he hasn't even tuned this car yet! I love it,I am a die hard GM fanatic, great job! Z06,ZR1 coming soon!
I saw one in person today, man it really is a beautiful car... You have to see it in person to really appreciate how beautiful it is... Definitely a supercar
@Gossip Heart A supercar is a high performance car that represents the pinnacle of a manufacturers engineering. All you C8 fanboys say the base model is a supercar just because it keeps up with them. Supercars are supposed to be rare also. If you C8 fanboys call the C8 stingray a supercar, then every corvette since the C5 was a supercar because all of them kept pace with supercars. However, they were too common to get excited about seeing one. A supercar needs to be rare as well as fast. And the C8 will likely be the best selling corvette ever made. So it doesn’t make the cut to be a supercar. However it and the base model Porsche 911 are way too fast to just be a sports car. That’s why I place the C8 and base 911 into a hybrid category called “super sports cars”. This category is good for cars that keep up with supercars but aren’t rare or special enough to be supercars. Now do you understand where I’m coming from? I adore the car but I simply don’t see how the C8 is a supercar because it’s mid engine.
@Gossip Heart You sound like another one of those damn fanboys. I never said the C8 stingray was a decline in engineering. I’m saying that the base model isn’t the best of the C8. The Z06 and ZR1 will be supercars because that’s when Chevy goes balls to the wall in their engineering and breaks some major records with them. “Anyone can buy a Lamborghini or Ferrari”. That was one of the stupidest sentences I have ever heard. Only people in the 1% can afford a Lamborghini or Ferrari. That’s why they are so rare. The truth is, about 50% of people can afford a C8 Corvette at one point or another and that makes the C8 not as special to see in person as something like a Ferrari or even a C7 Z06. That’s why the C8 isn’t a supercar. It’s a hybrid of a supercar and a sports car. It’s a SUPER SPORTS CAR. NOT A SUPERCAR. Stick to what you know. Video games
Beautiful. Cmon Hennesey make this thing crazy reel in some 720s.I hope they offer like 3 packages for this car a 650 whp pack.. A 800 whp pack and a 1200whp package
People online love to throw shade at this shop or that builder but my 2010 HPE800 is my daily driver and STILL embarrassing cars all over Florida. Cheers, everyone, stay safe.
we still waiting for update of this twin turbo build, honestly this car is the best sounding car i've ever heard that american v8+turbo spooling up ahhh it so satisfying
I would like you to do a project with the jeep Wrangler, since it was already done in the gladiator ... I am Brazilian, and I like the work of Hennessey, if possible a project in the Jeep Wrangler with the Hellcat engine! hugs
Chevrolet, GM, and Hennessey hit a Grand Slam Homer with this one. This Twin Turbo C8 Corvette is very fast. GM really made a World Class performer, the Twin Turbo makes this an extremely hard car to beat! Kudos to the fit and finish of the retrofitting it looks very professional.
Everyone else is talking about adding turbos for their C8 while Hennessy is saying, "been there done that ". They doing it and not that clickbait baloney every other youtuber is doing.
He's not the one who has a certain reputation to fix. He gave his opinion and so far other than seeing the car with it installed, they don't even have a video up running the actual numbers. Hopefully no more horror stories about Hennessey, but you know it's hard to get rid of bad publicity you created yourself. 🤔
@@evilformerlys4704 Well when you do the amount of jobs that Hennessey does, you're going to have an issue at some point. Nobody is perfect even if they strive for it.
I'v always liked the ride comfort of my C-6 Z51. It really is comfortable; the seats, etc. I've never been disappointed. I can actually feel more refreshed after a road trip in my C-6 than my 6 month old Honda Insight. Don't know where some haters get the idea that the 'Vettes are not comfortable. I dare say, tho I've never been able to compare, my Vette is likely more comfortable than the Euro exotics which, based on reports I've seen, are a bit rough-riding.
Why does engine rule this is RWD, it's AWD, which means yes, just like the old Porsche 959, it's so good that by the time you lose it, there's absolutely no coming back except for luck.
ntme9 yeah glad u noticed that too I wasn’t a fan of the exhaust note at all. I think it’s just the length of the exhaust. Couldn’t get the best glimpse from the video but looks like the exhaust is pretty much just like 6 inches off the turbo. Needs more exhaust after the turbos like the lambos do and clean up the exhaust note.
I searched the comments looking for somebody else that noticed. It sounded like it was breaking up, or even bogging at the shift during the pull at 3:15. It definitely didn't sound right...
You've done wonders with the C8-Z51. I would like my C8 when I get it to sound and perform like your car. The exhaust note sound makes it sound like a supercar!
I love the sound. It sound awesome without being stupid loud. Ok, I haven't heard it in person, so I actually don't know how loud it really is, but compared to being NA, it sounds much more reserved. I dig that.
That Hennessey venom gt will always remain legendary! Everytime I see a lotus elise or exige I get all depressed thinking I'll probably never get the chance of even seeing my dream car before I die
Just gotta be careful. I run a true cai on my car with no water shield. I avoid all puddles, and if the water looks like it will touch the rim of my wheel. I'll shut the car off, coast through, and crank it back up when I'm out
I remember having my C5 turbo.... The turbos were in the back.... So you had some top of a turbo lag... Now the engines in the back and probably have zero lag
Can't stand that guy. I used to be a big fan but then he started dissing hennessey, saying it wasn't the "real" first twin turbo C8. Come on, grow up, congratulate your peers, and outdo them. Don't try to take their title.
Haha exactly... funniest part about sheepey/alex is he doesnt build any of the parts it's all guys that he hires and then takes credit for all their work...
