Lillian and Vaughn Barmakian, Arlington, Massachusetts: "We're not married to each other … I'm married to his identical twin brother [Darren] … I'm married to her identical twin sister [Sylvia]." Johnny Carson substitutes for Henry.
Only Sylvia survives. Her sister died in 2020. The two brothers died in 2006 and 2018, respectively. They had a combined seven children. Their marriages lasted 47 and 60 years, ending with the death of one of the spouses.
The thing that got me was at the end when Garry said that they would get double Winston Cigarette cartons. Since this is 1959, what an thoughtful gift to pregnant women.
Emphysema, COPD and lung cancer make wonderful parting gifts for pregnant game show contestants. Not to mention low birth weights for their soon-to-be babies.
Lol everyone laughed when they asked if their parents were married. Well, three years after my grandmother died in a car wreck my grandfather married my aunt's mother in law. I also have a friend who was widowed when her daughters was little, she met her second husband at her daughter's wedding. She married her son in law's uncle, two years after meeting him at her daughter's wedding.
@@VioletJoy What is sad about this is I bet if you asked people in their teens and 20s and maybe even their 30s, they would have no idea why the audience is laughing so hysterically at Bill's question.
Because the DNA is the same... that would mean that if each couple had children... the COUSINS wouldn't really be cousins, they'd still be brothers and sisters.
Yes. Genetically speaking, their kids would be full siblings; and in general, the children of identical twins will always be genetic half-siblings at the least .
You know what I find so sad? I bet if you were to ask someone in his or her teens or 20s why the audience is laughing so hysterically when Bill Cullen misspeaks and asks,"Were your parents married?" they would have no idea. For those who may not know, though, the audience was laughing so hard at Bill Cullen's misspoken words because it was an absurdity back then to think that a man and woman would be living together, have children, and not be married. This is a sad commentary on the times we are living in today.
Oh, they know. I know identical twins and their kids always knew which was Mom and which was Auntie by the time they were 2 or so. There are subtle differences that family quickly learns. In their case, one had a chicken pox scar on the side of her face, very faint, but the kids knew and saw it. Also one is a little heavier than the other.
To the owner of this RU-vid channel, would it be possible for you to send me a copy of this video of my grandparents? I would love to have a copy for my own records.
Those are what maternity tops looked like then. I remember them. Those ugly things were still what we wore in the early 1980's. You younger gals don't know how fortunate you are they make better looking maternity clothes now.
@@melvawages7143 There are much cuter maternity clothes now, that's for sure. I don't remember seeing any THAT bad back in the 80s though. Lol. I had my kids in the 90s and never wore any maternity clothes. That was when long tops and leggings first came in style, so I wore those and dresses with an empire waist.
Women didn’t go out in public as much when they were that far a long. It was difficult to constantly make clothes for you changing body and shape, so the muumuu style of dress was the most common. The fact they were on a stage may have played a role in their choices. The dresses are odd but I’ve seen uglier dresses.♥️💕🎆🎆
If you watched ",I love Lucy" when she was expecting ( remember you could not say pregnant on TV) and her clothes were awful...made her look really frumpy...
I have to agree the 1950s ones were bad. The ones I saw in pictures that my mom wore in the 80s I didn't think were bad. I hate seeing pregnant women wearing skintight clothes these days. Yuck.
Oh F**k......... we have identical girls, hopefully they don't do this to us. They're bad enough with trying to tell them apart, and as for taking them on holidays - - - that's an experience and a half. Had to haul them out of school to go to passport office cos they thought we were trying to get 2 passports for one girl, went to America, poor bastard at homeland security desk thought he was losing his mind. And yes, they do that spooky twin thing, answer at the same time, buy the same stuff, wear the same clothes, finish each other's sentence... AND drive me nuts when they want their allowance...... like a pair of piranhas against a goldfish!!! wife thinks it's hilarious!!!
There was a case like this on youtube and their children turned out to have the same basic dna, as if they were twins themselves. Identical (twins) DNA with Identical DNA had babies at the same time abd those 2 babies had identical DNA, though they were cousins.
So true and tragic! It's unbelievable and disgusting to watch Gary smoke while moderating, especially in front of children. The tobacco industry has a lot to account for.
I both love and hate this game show. I love the nostalgia, the idea of the game itself and the panel. However, I'm not sure how Garry Moore got the job as the host. He is neither well spoken nor funny. I cringe watching every episode. The panel is delightful though, particularly Betty. I don't understand the timing of the game. They barely have time to ask one question sometimes. I wish they were able to ask several questions each and go around several times in order to have a chance at guessing. I think that would be more fun. They're always getting cut off. I realize I'm critiquing a show from long ago. Lol
The show was presented as entertainment, not a competition. The fun of it was the show’s creativity in showcasing the contestants’ secrets. And there wasn’t a lot at stake, just $80.
Are you judging that from their appearance on screen or do you have some additional information on them? Genetically identical people will rarely retain identical appearances through their lives. Lack of nutrition or an illness in one child may stunt their growth compared to their healthy sibling. Life style choices such as food preferences or sports activities may also adjust their appearances.
@@zarabada6125 as an identical twin that is 100% correct. People have the misconception the identical twins will stay 100% the same through out their lives. Which is possible because of the reasons you stated. For one thing my twin is now about 2"-3" taller than me and some other things different. But as far as whn we were younger we can't even tell each other apart in pictures.
